You were in my city and meters away from my school (it was close to mo mo's) 💕 but a tip: when you go to restaurants and ask for a vegan francesinha MAKE SURE THE SAUCE IS VEGAN. There are a lot of places in porto that are claiming to have a vegan francesinha but use the same sauce as the regular ones, and the sauce has meat in it. Another place you could go next time is Vegana By Tentúgal! The foods is cheap and the owner, Márcia, is so lovely and nice and makes everything to make your meal time comfortable and enjoyable. Hope you had fun 💕💕💕

Hi Maddie and Alex! I've been following you for a while but I've finally committed to going full vegan two weeks ago. If you ever feeling like coming to the states, we have TONS of local vegan options! I recommend sticking to the coasts though ( Oregon, California, Washington, and new England!) I'm from Boston and we have this place called Veggie Galaxy and it is AMAZING!

I was introduced to Happy Cow by a lady who travels playing her piano in the street and I use it a great deal as I am vegan and my partner is vegetarian and we need good food.
At the end of this month we are travelling to Switzerland and have located potential places for lunches and buying things to make lunches.
I make and take banana oat cookies for the trip and also baked potatoes as they are easy to digest and of course fruit.
Great vlog, Porto looks lovely and easy to get vegan food and treats. Definitely a holiday to think about.😁

Most people where i live have no idea what vegan means. So you can learn the words Vegane or Vegetalien but they may still think you just mean no meat. Best wishes from an alien in France.
Blu Pam Marshall yeah I went to France this year because we made like an exchange with a French school (I'm Spanish) and when I told the family I was vegan they didn't really know what it was. I don't know about the rest of France but where I went people didn't know much about it and they didn't really understand 😅 However, they were really understanding and supported me. I had an amazing experience there! Greetings from Spain 😊

Ha this is so weird, I went to Porto last year and ended up in some of the exact same places as you! The one with the vegan crepes and pizzas and the francesina place. Although last year they didn't have vegan cheese, so I'm glad they decided to add it to the menu!

I just got back from a week in Florida! Surrounded by alcohol and meat eaters! However, I ate vegan the entire time except one small goof. I had salad dressing with egg in it. But like you said, I didn't stress! I did my best and I ate well and had a BLAST! Beautiful video. Now I'm going to take a nap.

How do you reccomend looking at cities ahead of time to decide where you are going to travel? Where do you look/ what resources are you using?

Normally I travel in my car because I can bring my wheelchair then. I use to eat breakfast and snacks in my car with bought bread, vegan spreads, fruits etc. That's a good option as well :)

About to embark on my first trip o Europe! Super worried about eating vegan in Italy but this is giving me hope!

You can have pasta or ask for pizza without cheese:) I'm not Italian myself but German and that is European as well:) in bigger supermarkets or restaurants they have vegan options or something vegetarian that can be changed into something vegan (at least where I live)
I find eating vegan in Italy quite easy so don't worry :) you can eat marinara pizza (it's a plain pizza with no cheese) or some pasta, there're always few options to choose from, but always say 'no cheese' which is 'senza formaggio' and ask for extra veggies on the side :) you can also find that lots of places have sorbet ice creams and coffee with soy milk. Don't forget to try foccacia with olives! It's my favourite :)

Quick question: I have soy and gluten sensitivity and am new to vegan diet. How difficult would it be for me to avoid these two items when travelling, esp when trying to speak or read in non-English speaking places?
Would you say that Portugal is expensive? They charged us with 7,10 € for two rolls and a handful of olives in Viana do Castelo, so I was wondering if that's normal.
Not sure if they are the same ones or if you already know but those asda cola bottles are vegetarian but not vegan. Just ignore me if i'm wrong! 😂 great video though 😊
I'm now vegan for 2 months, in autumn I will fly to Tenerife with my mom to visit our family. We will stay at my granny's, but she had a ruff time last autumn to cook something vegetarian and I don't know what to do. I don't want to stress her out or so.
Just show her the ropes! Cook your own food and share some delicious vegan recipes with your family (I have plenty 😉) Don’t make it a nuisance, just share, help and be understanding and it’ll be fine 😊
You guys were drinking red wine at the end? Was it vegan wine? Egg or even fish is often used in the fining process of wine production.
Yes it was vegan wine at a mostly vegetarian restaurant (Essencia)! They had all of their wines labelled which was super handy. But I was just having water as I don’t drink 😊
