I think it is strange that minimalists and zero-wasters talk so little about libraries. I think the concept is super and really fits both the lifestyles.
Siri H Thank you!
I think libraries in general are becoming less accessible.
I LOVE LIBRARIES SO MUCH
I don't know how it is in other countries but I find libraries as something natural in almost all towns in Czech rep. We used to go there with elementary school and ever since whenever I wanted some book I would just go there. I probalby wouldn't mention it either since it is so natural to me. On the other hand to buy a book is something I do very rarely I only do it with books which I really love and I know I can read them over and over again :)
Also I love the smell of used older books.
I always find it strange how they say going paperless is so much better because than you have to charge your reading devices regularly which is bad for the environment in a different way. Library's or second hand are my go to options!
Great video! Its funny, i am 40 years old and a lot of these tips are actually quite old: my grandmother and parents did a lot of the things you advise to save money (switching of lights, cooking yourself and eating local/seasonal food, thrifting, showering less, drying your clothes in the wind, walking of cycling to work, not eating a lot of meat etc etc). I am happy that all this is âin fashionâ again!
I was talking to my nana about this stuff a while back (I'm 31 and have been doing all these things for over a decade anyway) but one thing I was surprised to learn was people used to get pots and pans fixed after years of wear and tear, she said there was someone local who used to fix them. Googling it all I can see is how to re-apply non-stick to pans and nothing about fixing actual damaged pans. Must be too much hassle for even most of the eco-friendly community. I'll have to ask her next time I see her because I'm curious how they did it now.
A different tip for the shower one, for those who take long showers, you can stop the water after getting wet, you can wash your body and your hair without wasting the extra water, then turn the water back on to rinse everything off. I do this all the time, and my water bill has gone down since I've started doing this.
That's a good one. A common tip it reminds me of is the turning the tap off when brushing your teeth, I've been doing it since I was kid but a surprising amount of people just don't do it.
Ohh and ladies: menstrual cups, reusable pads and panties...sorry for bringing it up but I donât know how much normal pads and tampons cost in the UK but here in Switzerland they cost a fortune and create a lot of trash..
Omg yes totally forgot about this one! So true saves an absolute fortune!
I havent bought any one use pads in over a year! I really reccomend it
For me it's been nearly two years!!I saved a fortune!!
Diva cups are amazing and women usually experience less bacterial infections (like me) so much better for your health
Iâve brought a homemade reusable sanitary towel from a girl on Etsy, I plan to buy some more. Itâs got a cute pattern and nice to support a little business.
Where I live (Quebec, Canada), we have only one electricity supplier and it's hydroelectrical so the whole province is powered using the force of water, which is think is super cool! Also, the best decision I made this year was to start biking to work. It significantly reduced my stress levels as I don't have to deal with public transit and crowds anymore, I just get on my bike, enjoy the fresh air and get to work fully energized and in such a good mood!
Yes, vive le quebec! I would love to bike to work all the time, but winter is so horrible, 7 month out of the year its impossible.
I think learning to sew is such an important skill! It takes 5 minutes to sew a button back onto a shirt, and cotton/needles will last for ages! When you think about how much you would spend on replacing an item of clothing vs fixing it, the difference is huge! The planet and our purses will be much happier :) Great video, some really amazing tips as always!
Eleanora Jane I am sewing a skirt for myself right now!
You can also sew a lot of reusable things like produce bags, napkins, to go kits for cutlery, pads ect
My niece is named Eleanora(:
in my opinion plastic bags in shops should cost more.people don't care about 10p and they still buy those, if the price would be ÂŁ1 or so people will think twice before they take it, or will remember to take some from home. Also I bought water destiller- brilliant idea, you will be surprised whats left on the bottom- stinky mud...do not drink water straight from tap.
Yes I agree they should make them pricier and outlaw the standard plastic bags in shops and instead only sell bags for life that are more expensive! And tap water isnât all that bad - I drink it! But would like a distiller đ
Louise C , if I could decide I would ban selling plastic bags altogether
Morrisons no longer sells the single use bags at all, they just don't have them in the store at all. They only carry the reusable thicker plastic bags.
clairecheney In Germany, more and more stores don't sell plastic bags anymore. Just reusable bags or plasticbags for like 1âŹ. It is really awesome. One company started banning plastic bags and many companies are doing it as well :)
i might be wrong but i imagine the price will gradually increase. fingers crossed :)
I live in the US and people very rarely dry their clothes on a rack here. I started using one during the summer time after I spent some time abroad and I love how it has also helped retain the quality of my clothes!
its quite common in city areas. i lived in new york and i can name several people that use drying racks.
I have 2 drying racks. The only things I usually dry are towels, sheets, blankets, etc.I also wash all clothes in cold water on a gentle cycleâŠ.As you said it saves wear and tear on clothes.
Let ur hair air dry and use heatless hair styles!! Its much less damaging for your hair plus ur hair jus looks floofierâš
Canât believe I forgot this! Amazing tip!
Also, if you really like to curl your hair (I have straight Asian hair), you can use those heatless hair curlers (it looks like a malleable cushioned wire) like I do. I have long hair and that still works for me. Better for your hair health too!
Buying secondhand books as well. I donât think you mentioned it, but if you need a hard copy of a book, try to find it secondhand, itâll likely be cheaper and that book has already been bought so itâs better to keep it being used than to buy another one. And if you donât need a hard copy, a digital copy on your phone.
Yaaas! đđ»
All Time Disaster thriftbooks is my favourite website, Iâve bought so many hardback and paperback books for only about âŹ3 each!
Yes! Here is Australia one of our charity stores have an annual book fair. I got 22 books for $1AUD each. I saved so much and it went to a go cause.
Yes! Thriftbooks.com
Yes!! I never ever buy brand new books, always second hand!!
To elaborate on the not showering tip: Not showering does not mean not washing!! I always hear people say that if you don't shower, you're gross. Especially in hotter climates. But a shower is not the only way to get clean. Start using a washcloth! I probably shower every other day, but I wash myself every day! On the day's I'm not showering, I just grab a washcloth, and wash myself at the sink. Just wet yourself really quickly, put a drop of soap on your washcloth and scrub the places that get dirty (armpits...) rinse the washcloth and whipe all the soap off again. It only takes about a minute, so it saves you time in the morning, and it saves you a lot of water.
I second this, I usually only shower when I want to wash my hair. Otherwise I just wash myself with a washcloth. It's quicker, more sustainable and I also user colder water since I don't need to cover my whole body with water
Loved that you mentioned taking less showers instead of just taking shorter showers! Definitely not necessary to shower everyday. I shower every other day and wash my hair once a week and I'm definitely not smelly (at least I think!).
Haha yes I think itâs so funny we are told we should shower everyday when itâs totally unnecessary!
That wont work in tropical countries like Brazil (where I live). 2 or 3 baths by day are necessary.
My boyfriend and I both live in Miami and he is able go days without using any soap but I just stink!! Some people just smell worse than others đ
Ellen Lima yesssss I live in jamaica and it was sooo hot today
I agree, and some people are even shocked that others don't shower morning AND evening! I often just have a little stand-up wash at the sink with soap and a flannel, uses way less water and you can still reach any parts likely to sweat!
Also join a super savers group (groups that go to grocery stores in their closing times and collect food they would throw out!) more and more places are allowing this. ***ESPECIALLY IF YOUâRE STUDENTS***
If youâre like me and really prefer multiple showers a week, pop on a shower head that reduces water output. Ours cuts the amount of water coming out of our shower in half. Doing this and limiting our showers to about 3 minutes means weâre saving a lot of water.
Sydney Freeman will definitely do that. I canât go a day without showering
I have very dry skin. I only shower 2-3 times a week as per doctors advice and no, I donât stink. I just wash the areas of my body like my armpits, between my boobs or my female parts daily. You wont really start stinking at your elbows đ
Oh and as for light bulbs - buy LED. Those âoldschoolâ energysaving bulbs are full with nasty chemicals that are bad for the environment.
breena.me not to mention they use up more energy ending up being more expensive!
@A P, no LEDs have no Mercury in them. The "oldschool" bulbs breena.me was talking about are the ones with Mercury. The oldschool-ones are the pipe-ish looking and in those pipes is the Mercury.
I've honestly never showered more than 2-3 times a week, and I don't get smelly (if you find your underarms are a problem I find that shaving my pits keeps my bo down)
Another thing thats kinda odd that I do, I don't use soap. I never really have, and I don't plan on starting. Water, shampoo, and conditioner is all I ever use (and yes that includes the downstairs)
I only shower twice in a week and don't stink (I asked friends of mine to be sure).
2 to 3 times a week. Who are those doctors?
I agree with THINK BEFORE YOU BUY . I used to spend a lot on things that I donât actually need. Now I learned my lesson.
When I dont wash my Hair i need like 30 Seconds, I also turn the water off when i use shower gel! Its a really good tip because a lot of people shampoo their hair and stuff and let the water run, which is wasting so much water!
Great tip!
Good idea, I'll try this!
I do this too! My mum always brought me up turning the shower off whenever I was actually doing something (shampoo, soap, etc). Water was just for rinsing it off after!
I've started doing this ever since I watched this video- it's made me realise just how much water I was wasting before!! I admit I'm not looking forward to doing it in colder weather!
I turn the water off too while washing in the shower
Great video! A few thought from me:
Drying your clothes outside on a line makes it also smell so much better.
Many libraries (at least here in Germany) also provide borrowing ebooks. That might not be "more green" than buying ebooks, but it saves you money. But oh, yes, it might be greener if you would usually take your car to go to the library.
If something is broken check your town if there is a kind of repair cafe. We have that like every other month. People are coming together to fix things.
Happy Veggie Kids & Family The app Libby let's you check out ebooks from your library straight from your phone. It's wonderful, I can't recommend it enough!
Thank you! I will definitely check it out!
The diva cup for women, air-drying your clothes and hair, reusable produce bags, glass containers (costs more on the spot, but easier to keep for a longer amount of time), reusable cotton pads to wash your face, using an essential oils diffuser instead of candles.... :)
Similar to the second hand clothes tip, set up a clothes swap party with your friends. You can easily build up a massive party and everyone always finds something they love. Make it a big extended network event! Sometimes these events exist publicly too.
When I'm shopping and I decide not to buy something, e.g. nice trainers on sale that I don't need, I put the amount of money it cost on my separate saving account. After a year or so I don't have to worry about money for holidays for example :-)
Awesome idea! Might try that out :)
I shower twice a week my hair and my full body as wellđ but here in italy we have the little extra sink next to the toilet in which we can wash separate part of our body very easly... that is the best to clean the necessary parts!
Wowwww. I wondered what that little sink was when I was in Europe! Now I know!
For the people who get their periods - use a menstrual cup. They are from ÂŁ10-ÂŁ20 and they can last you yearssss. You just wash them. The amount of money spent on pads and tampons through a year is insane and let alone the amounts of plastic packaging they have. Switching for a menstrual cup is like the best thing. Also using bamboo toothbrushes is like hella better than plastic ones and of course using metal straws as well instead of the plastic ones. I normally carry around a cup glass jar of like a normal size and when I go places I ask them to put the drink I want to buy in there instead of in a plastic cup and like 99% of the time they say yes. Just make sure you don't take like a huge cup or jar because if not they will say no. Take a slightly smaller one than the size of of their ones and they will be fine with it ! Hope that helpeddd
Katherine Melmoth I love how you said "people who get their period" -because there are also ftm trans who really have a problem with that particular female part of their body â€
Katherine Melmoth I love my moon cup. With pads I got red spots on my skin and now I have no pain anymore đ
I tried one and it felt like I was tearing myself apart
Great tips! I also save money through : having a hand driven washing machine, a desert refrigerator (no electricity), and no TV (you can watch pretty much anything on a computer). Also don't forget that going paper free is good, but you need to be careful about your internet data. Storing tons of emails or data consumes lots of energy in data centers.
I am starting a freelance web developer career and plan to work with green data centers only (for instance located in cold countries where they don't need to cool servers so much -or not at all-). The internet is not a wireless magical thing, there are lots of physical machines and wires that make it work. We need to remember that!
I'm proud to say that I already do half of the things listed in this video, and I will do my best to start doing the other half!
This summer I will be donating nearly my whole wardrobe because I have so much stuff that I don't even wear (it's crazy) so I won't be buying so many clothes anymore. Also, my dad changed the lightbulbs in our whole house to LED bulbs (the amount of money you save it's noticeable right away!)
(I love how you edit your videos â€ïž .)
Yay youâre doing amazing then! It feels so good to declutter and I agree, the lightbulbs save so much! And thanks! â€ïž
I used to shower and wash my hair every single day! It's only when I started to respect/like myself I realised how unnecessary it was! I was scared of how a body naturally is! Three times a week works for me now :)
I also recommend ASOS Marketplace, great site for vintage designers/ sports brands!
So good that you encourage people to cook their own foods. Not only is it healthier but it is so morale boosting in a world where knowing how to cook is such a lost art. I love yogurt and cheese products. But all of them are sold in plastic. Iâve begun to make my own yogurt lately and I love it. Itâs a lot cheaper and it doesnât take much time or effort to make. I make it in my crock pot. Itâs so fantastic. And no plastic is used in making or storing it since I store it in old jars from other things Iâve purchased in the past. And I donât feel bad about giving away small jars of my yogurt to friends in those old jars that I use as Tupperware more or less. And the great thing about cooking my own food is that people really love my cooking even though Iâm not a gourmet because they are so used to eating prepackaged that anything fresh made tastes wonderful. So another morale booster.
I am just binge watching videos about zero waste and this definitely helps a lot. Thank you! đđż
Yay!
I usually mostly just ignore ads on youtube videos, but Octopus Energy sounds brilliant! Definitely going to switch when my contract runs out
I switched yesterday..very easy
Congratulations on 160,000 subscriptions. I hadn't paid attention. I was in the 4,000s when I subscribed. Your message is important and I'm glad it's being heard by so many.
Amazing topic! Love the combination of going green and saving money â€đ±
Thank you for the amazing tips! My mom has a drying rack on our front yard that she uses on sunny warm days, and uses the dryer in the winter. I can only wash my clothes at night since I'm busy throughout the day, having to use the dryer. After you talked about a drying rack, I bought a somewhat small drying rack that should fit in my bathroom or bedroom
One I would add to the list is to check your loft to see if there is insulation in there. If there isn't, get some installed, which in the UK can be done for free in some cases via certain government schemes. The same goes for cavity wall insulation but that is harder to check so get a survey done for that at the same time. This can save some pennies on the heating cost of a house and also use less gas / electricity / wood / coal. One other would be to check your windows and doors seal properly when shut and the frames don't have any holes / gaps in the sealant around the frame that can let drafts in.
Thanks for the great video. I do most of these already. I would also add traditional cloth napkins and tissues to the list. The paper ones are not eco-friendly. The traditional ones you can just throw in the washer with your clothes and reuse.
Great idea!
But doesn't washing the cloth towels cost more than buying paper towels?
I love taking short showers and just using my conjac sponge or plain water. It works wonders for my sensitive skin! And doing it in the morning takes literally a minute and wakes me up really well!
Also, safety razors... So much less expensive in the long haul than disposable ones!!
Theresa __ Do you have a brand you would recommend? I bought one recently and am having a hard time getting used to it. I don't get as close of a shave as I'm used to and keep cutting my legs. :( I have heard such great things about safety razors though and would love to find one that works!
Hey Lauren! I have the one from Merkur, made in Germany and the 100 pack of Astra blades! I still haven't totally gotten the hang of it yet either, but whenever I use tiny strokes and little pressure. I've actually watched a video before, on how to use a safety razor on your legs here on youtube. Very informational haha Hope this helps girl!!
Kamilla A hi girl, I put them back in the little sleeve they come in and then put them in the trash. Not sure if that's safe enough, I hope so!! :)
I personally use an epilator and it must be one of the best switches I've made in my life. Don't have to so it every day, skin is completely smooth, you don't have to deal with stubbles and no waste
I just wanted to say that I love your channel so much! I recently found it because I was developing my interest for minimalism and then I saw that you're vegan as well which makes you ten times more interesting to me. Your videos motivate me to be a better version of myself, I always knew that I had to reduce my waste and all that in order to keep the environment clean(er) but I never really looked into it a little further. Now I see it's actually really easy but extremely important! I'm so happy that I found this channel. Great video quality and editingđ keep up the great work. Greetings from Germany:)
You are forever my favorite CZcamsr! Keep spreading good things and the idea that we can be comfortable with who we are!!
If you smell just a little bit, you can just take a wet wash cloth and go over the smelling parts. Works wonders and is a lot quicker!
Stella Anna Paulina I use some witch hazel on a reusable washcloth pad (I cut up an old washcloth) and hit the hot spots! LoL
Thank you sooo much for this! I've just started trying out the whole new eco-lifestyle kind of thing. I'm from the Philippines, which is in the top 3 out of the whole world that pollutes the ocean way too much. I'm starting out by bringing my own silverwear and bringing my own eco bag around with me :.)
OMG!! Thank you so much for this video. It's a little different from what I normally watch, but I'm sooo glad I did. Honestly everything you have said makes perfect sense and everyone should be taking a leaf out of your book. I feel so inspired and will be making more of a conscious effort to live a greener life style.
Once again thank you xx
I think that some of these simple things go unnoticed! Thank you for the awareness video. I still live with my parents (Iâm 14) so some of these I cannot do but I will try and persuade them! X
So glad I'm already doing half of these without thinking, shows I'm on the right track I think. And I'm moving into my first apartment next week and looking forward to starting clean with a minimalist vegan lifestyle, aaaah I'm excited!
Absolutely LOVING this video! I hope more people will get inspired to go green and see what a change they can make!
Hats off to you, such a fantatsic outlook on life for one in young years! Absolutely meant not to be a patronising comment, just impressed that you came to this ethos decades before I ever did. đ
I want a cleaning product video so badly, now that you mentioned it! These were some great tips, I definitely do most of these already. The water thing is really difficult, I live in a city that houses one of the biggest pharmacy companies and the water here tastes really awful, even after filtering, but I'll be moving somewhere else soon and hopefully the water will be drinkable there!
Love y Maddy ! You inspire me and your advices are very useful for me and for many other people. Thank you so much.
I also recommend going to auction houses for furniture! You can amazing antiques as well as more modern furniture for such a bargain!
Definitely gonna try some of these! Thanksđ
I love watching your videos - I can tell youâre such an amazing, humble person âșïž Sending love from Toronto, Canadaâ€ïž
Awww thank you so much â€ïž
Hello Madeleine ! Thank you for that great video ! I've just subscribed to your channel (I've found you thanks to Cheryl's ). Thank you for these amazing tips! I'm French and I'm part of a minimalist forum in France and we share a lot of tips about minimalism on it. One tip that most of us apply is to create a menu schedule/ plan for the week and to buy grocery shopping only from that menu list: it saves a lot of money and avoid wasting food ! Plus it forces us to reevaluate our pantry before starting a grocery list ! Hope this tip will help; thank you again for that great video !
Amazing video! Really great ideas to save energy and money! I already do quite a lot of these but you definitely gave me ideas to be even more environmentally friendly ! Thanks đ
This video was really beautiful to watch!!! I always love your editing style but this one was particularly nice on the eyes âșïž
Ooo look forward to your video on DIY cleaning products!!! đđ±
You really are an inspiration, Maddie! :D
Inspired! I love watching your videos in the morning before I get up. We are trying to be minimal waste, your videos are such a great motivation.
Iâm excited for the make your own cleaning supply vid. Thank you:)
Should hopefully make it next week!
Love these tips! And I am definitely looking forward to the DIY cleaning products!
Excellent video. I do most of these things already but good to be reminded. I look forward to your video on making cleaning products. I use Dr Bronners Castile soap or Dr Bronners Sal Suds for everything in my house.
This was such a helpful video thanks so much! đâ€ïž
I am just waiting for you to reach 1 mil. I bet itâll happen before New Yearâs!
Ha! I wish! I think thatâs very optimistic!
thank you for the video!! i wish everyone could finally stop closing their eyes and start caring for the planet, their health, the animals!! how can people be so ignorant. if everyone tried to do their best we could change so much.
I wish they would change for plastic bags in the US! My parents waste so many plastic bags when they grocery shop. And I wish it was easier to recycle in general in the US. In some places, they have recycling pickup but not where I live. My local recycling center doesn't take everything, even if it's technically recyclable, so it makes it difficult for me to recycle.
Except The showers tip, I loved all of your tips. Where I live (brazil, rain forest Very near, super moist and hot, multiple baths a day are a must.)
Ellen Lima Would it work if instead of multiple showers or actual baths each day, you just put some cool soapy water in the sink/basin and had a stand-up wash with a washcloth? Just thinking of ways you could save water but still feel clean, must be horrible feeling sticky all day! :)
Exactly!, I live in YucatĂĄn, Mexico, it's just so hot ALL THE TIME, and you sweat in places you didn't know you could sweat haha
You can make sure that you're using a biodegradable eco friendly soap and take quick showers. Using cold water really helps me shower faster and it feels really refreshing when you get used to it. :)
Same here in Indonesia
Same here in India. Cannot go without two showers a day. Even when the weather is cool, we still stink because of the humidity. But then we often use a bucket and mug for bathing n not an actual shower. Three average sized mugs for wetting ourselves and three to wash the soap off. Thatâs not a lot especially when compared to a 15 min shower.
Love all your tips! I work at a supermarket and we charge 5 cents (canadian) per plastic bag up to 50 cents, but it makes me so upset when people tell me that they left their reusable bags in the car and just buy plastic bags!! Thank you for all the info and I'll definitely be using a lot of these :)
This is great, I really respect your way of thinking.
This was such a good video, all the different clips and editing it was so nicely thought out and put together thank youđ
Great tips! I'm all about borrowing books/clothes/everything! Love a good Clothes Swap party :)
Digital Nomad Girl We do those for formal dresses. Itâs very fun!
I'm honestly feeling so proud right now because I already to most of these things haha I'm really looking forward to the making your own cleaning products video because that's something I struggle with and still kind of can't believe works as well. Maybe normal cleaning products yes but I find I have a really hard time believing that I don't need proper laundry detergents.
Such a great video - thanks for the wonderful tips! I do a lot of these already but itâs always good to get some new ideas. I especially need to work on my paper towel use - I go through way too much! Also, you look amazing in this video - hair and makeup đđ»
Great video. I live in the US and the culture here is so different. We have very few bagless stores. Most electrical outlets do not have âoffâ switches.
I learned a lot watching this!
When buying produce, donât put it in little plastic bags (not sure if this is a thing in Europe but it is in North America). Just put them in your basket. No need to waste extra plastic bags for apples and oranges. Wash them when you get home and youâre good to go
Wow great video!!! đđŒđđŒđđŒ love mixing eco friendly ideas with saving money! Make another!!!!
Camerajungle is useful for secondhand camera if youâre based in the uk! They come with a year warranty with the camera as well, and they do go over the condition of the camera. Itâs where I got my sony mk 3, and I really love my compact camera.
Hi there. I have started going green since 2007 and do most of the things you mentioned in this video. I am originally from Russia and never thought about my footprint before I came to the UK. I try my best to avoid plastic but still have few plastic bottles in my kitchen. My aim is to be completely plastic free. All my furniture is second hand. I recently switched to solid shampoo bar and a traditional metal safety razor. The best thing about going green is feel good factor, be a part of growing trend:). It's a great video. Thank you!
"Sew it up!" - love it đ
all of these are great! thank youđ
This is such a great video. Great ideas and very easy to make them at home . Thanks
Love these types of videos! Please do more x
Love your videos, especially these ones. Amazing content + great personality. :)
I'm on octopus, they're the cheapest as well as eco so perfect!
Hi Maddy we really enjoyed your video thank you for the tips my husband and I are doing most of those things we always enjoy your videos.
I'm excited for your DIY cleaning products video!
Me too! It looks really interesting
is that you fitch ?????
Thank you for the video! I'm excited to watch the thrift store tips next.
Brilliant tips. One issue with the drying rack is mould. In the UK a lot of houses that I have rented have had a 'no drying racks' note in the contracts as the added moisture adds to growth so this can be a issue but I try and wash cold, dry on the minimum time setting and just hang out for the last dry (not always feasible but best we can do in the damp).
Also having multi purpose items is huge! My produce bags double as delicates laundry bags and all my kitchen appliances do double and triple duty.
I have started washing my hair once a week however I wash just my bangs/fringe ever other day and it has worked out great. I have been vintage/second hand shopping since I was 13 so like 32 years now you have figured out my age. I use Dr Bronnerâs soap for everything body wash, floor washing, kitchen & bathroom washing.
Loved this video!
I feel pretty lucky that in Australia we don't need to use Dryers for our clothes. Even in winter the daytime is enough to dry everything.
100% switching to Octopus now- thanks for letting us know!
Great video, thank you! I am interested about the DIY cleaning products, they would be really useful!
This is great :) My Poppy gave me a book years ago that I think you may like, it's called '1001 easy ways to earth-wise living'. Unsure if you'd get much new from it but I have found it very handy when going earth friendly :)
Just wanted to say I'm a new subscriber :) watched your food challenge videos and I do a lot of what you covered on this video too :) great tips! The one I discovered fairly recently is getting rid of cling film and using beeswax wraps (but not buying more than necessary!)
Great tips! Been washing my clothes in cold water for years :)
Great video đ
My other tips : cups or washable pads ; home made body product (deodorant and lip balm), low/no poo and solid soap ; washable "cotons" to remove make-up etc ; vegetable oil as "moisturizer" (one that you can eat AND use on your body, with a neutral smell, like sesame oil, hazelnut oil etc, so you can buy it in big glass bottle intead of multiple little bottles) ; drinking sodas veeeery occasionnaly ; no straw ; home made natural fertilizer & repulsive in my garden ; shaving less because plastic razor = shit for environment (the best would be 1) not shave at all, or 2) being a pro and making oriental wax that is 100% 0 waste and 100% natural)....
A while ago, I used to shower with a bucket on the floor, after I finished my shower I would use the water in the bucket to flush the toilet when i needed to. very convenient if you're toilet is in the bathroom, and usually the water from the bucket is still pretty clean. Just has some soap in it.
Thank you for really good tips. I am doing most of them and to be honest here in California it is really easy to do. My next target is to involve kids in this activity. They know already why we should save the planet and are ready to help.
