I have a '12 F1100 Sno Pro and I've found that if it doesn't start in like 10-15 seconds it's best to stop cranking and let the fuel pump pressurize then try turning it over again !! Sometimes I'll even turn the key all the way off and back on again to make it pressurize again, then it usually starts right up. If you just keep cranking it your either going to kill your battery or burn out your starter !
Cold weather tip; No need for a block heater. Just grab a trouble light with a 100W or higher bulb and toss it under the hood or basically anywhere near the block. It'll keep it warm enough overnight in almost any temp.
I have a 2012 xf 1100 procross and I live in the northern part of Norway. We have up to -35C. I have started my snowmobile many times in -20C and it always fires up in 5-10 seconds. Never had to try starting it twice. Had problems with it, but starting it in cold weather is not on the list... Did your snowmobile get easier to start when u had it run in a bit more?
Dude i just brought a brand new 2009 Arctic cat z1 turbo haha didn't even had it for the cold months but next year will be winter again and ill try it first before buying block heater. thanks tho!
Hi ryan i have the same sled, same year, i had to boost it 3 or 4 times to get it to keep running. after driving it a couple miles, it just quit then boosted it again and then the temp light was on and the sled kept jerking and only going a very slow speed. I made it back to my home but i was wondering if you know why this is happening, could the battery be the problem seeing its been in the -20s in the past few days here in Orillia Ontario.
I have the same sled but mine is a 2013. I was afraid trying it at -30C. Next time I will shoot a video to compare. My GMC start easily at -35C so the Cat should be the same because the cranking speed look's good.
Simon Lundmark shit my 91 Polaris indy 650 triple started in -35 and also -40 after about 6 pulls just to loosen it up and get the pistons moving plus it dont have electric start so i have to use one hand to pull and one hand to hit throttle with choke love the old 2 stroke smoke
Chris Scully you shouldnt start it when its more then -30 thats just stupid. If you dont want the pistons to "coldchoke"( dont know the English word for it )
thats not normal dude. you mighta got a lemon. was only fireing on 1 cylinder at first why it wouldnt stay running. i have same sled as yours but a 2013 and no block heater and live in manitoba canada and she starts fine in -20 c
because the oil is thick from the cold and i seen cars not start in the cold to... but a 2 stroke efi will start up every time no matter what temp as long as fuel is not frozen!!!!
The problem is something besides thick oil, the 1100 suzuki twin has a dry sump oil system for that very reason i.e. to make it less hard to start in the cold because the crank isn't sitting in a base pan full of cold, thick oil.
Sounds like you dont know what the hell youre doing. Flooding the battery and u just need to feather the throttle and keep it going. Yes it will need gas. Im 16 and i couldnt listen to you try to start it. Just feather it dude
Daniel Wilmot i could see killing the battery? or flooding the cylinders but never heard of flooding a battery lol thats just as funny as the opp telling me my 91 600 xlt triple was modified because i had a 91 650 triple pipe on it made him look dumb when i schooled him on the fact that the 600 pipe and can are identical to the 650 pipe and can
Daniel Wilmot first u must of went adhd cause he says in the video he had to keep giving it throttle to keep it going. Second.. it has a Ecu controlled start and it will flash temp on the lcd until it warms up. U really are not suppose to give it gas until that is over. Now in this case vs trashing a starter yea I would give it a little gas. He did nothing wrong it was clear he needed to put down the camera to use both hands since the key is done lower!
It's very clear that you have No Idea what you are doing

I have this identical sled and it started no problem in -30 yesterday, for some reason the starter sounded horrible
I have the same sled but mine is a 2013. I was afraid trying it at -30C. Next time I will shoot a video to compare. My GMC start easily at -35C so the Cat should be the same because the cranking speed look's good.
My Yami starts great in much colder weather!!!
yup, my 1977 enticer 250 starts every 2nd or third pull every cold morning but in warm conditions she starts almost first with the primer.
did you put gas line antifreeze in the gas??? Shouldn't start that hard!!! My buddies Here in Canada starts right up in minus 30.
Shit for a 2012 taking a long time to fire that up my 91 polaris indy 600 triple starts 3rd pull maybe 4th in -20
FIRST! Wow that thing is cranky! wholly shits! Was thinking about one of those...... till now.
lol yup. this is why i made the video. to give knowledge to the consumer.
Need a block heater and a really good battery
T fuel injected or carburetor?
Do a video on the ski do
my arctic cat ZRT -97 started in 2 pulls when it was -23C
Simon Lundmark shit my 91 Polaris indy 650 triple started in -35 and also -40 after about 6 pulls just to loosen it up and get the pistons moving plus it dont have electric start so i have to use one hand to pull and one hand to hit throttle with choke love the old 2 stroke smoke

How many belts u bust!? 2012 was the year that every says to avoid for that reason. Unless u have a new jack shaft designed to combat it.

I was expecting the 4 stroke would start first crank like on a car engine. They have EFI and computers engine mgmt, I wonder why it’s harder?
Alex Tomev -18deg C ...
Cars fire right up no problem in way colder temps than -18.
because the oil is thick from the cold and i seen cars not start in the cold to... but a 2 stroke efi will start up every time no matter what temp as long as fuel is not frozen!!!!

For synthetic oil -20C is nothing, at -40C 5w30 starts getting thicker but still flows very well.
It's because it wasn't broken in, tolerances still tight.
Hey @Ryan000s can you do a cold start with the engine heater please thiss video really help a lot!!!!!! LIKE :)
cold start
My 03 rx1 that only has 1200 miles on it start with in a secs of turning the key in that's not fuel injected in has in extra piston but good vid tho
Don't you have to plug in 4 strokes?
Kyle Gale no you dont
just give it som throttle and it will start
-4 degrees F isn't very cold, I hope you have since learned how to start this sled correctly
Today i will be teaching you how to burn out your starter motor
thats pretty sad thats o ºF where you are and my yamaha xtx starts fine in -25 ºF/-31ºC
Viper Venom15 my 2012 F1100 starts 3 seconds max down to -20F. OP's sled is probably just fucked
Чехотка
Go with a Yamaha,my Rx1 starts in -30 no problem
Some thing is not right> That snowmobile should cold start better than that. Something wrong with the whole systems. Can it checked out at Dealer.
it wasnt broken in. evrything was very stiff. starts much better now :)
RICHARD maaske it's a artic crap they aren't supposed too start
Should have bought a Yamaha. Would have started in 3 seconds.
Your some kind-of stupid arnt Ya?
Sounds like you dont know what the hell youre doing. Flooding the battery and u just need to feather the throttle and keep it going. Yes it will need gas. Im 16 and i couldnt listen to you try to start it. Just feather it dude
"Flooding the battery"........that's a new one!! Lol
Yes @welderteach . Its not literal its killing the battery.

apex
my 2004 arctic cat 440z starts easier than that
That's horrible mine starts way better in colder weather
junk guy
Another wonderful Artic Crap Sled.
