The way Mr Mike rips into the old floor boards without gloves, is savage but poop on the same hands is so not tolerated lol😱 As always love the content. Love how raw you are!!
I love seeing the whole process of this project. Your not crazy for taking the necessary steps you do to make sure it’s something your going to commit yourself to. Bravo 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼
I started watching your videos a million years ago for your room makeovers and you're still my favourite home improvement creator in the internets. I think demo videos are so satisfying and it's mind-blowing seeing you do all this hard work and a lot of it on your own. I don't know if you're secretely Wonderwoman but damn girl. It's so exciting to see you talk about and work on your property because I feel like your content has become just absolutely top-notch ever since you started to work on your own spaces that are unapologetically yours. It really makes me excited to watch the entire journey seeing this go from a demoed space to building and framing and making magic happen. Also, how big is your sweet little boy becoming? That's crazyyy, what a pretty pretty pup. It's so lovely to see your dogs every now and then in your videos
You probably plan on covering that wood subfloor cuz that's what you do with a subfloor . . .but snap!! That woodgrain and color variation is so pretty!!!
♥ I LOVE THE SMALL STEPS! ♥ I also love how you share your personal development in the process of slowing down and learning as much as you can before, instead of always "learning from my mistakes." As someone who also likes to get things done at the expense of doing them well and correctly, I greatly appreciate your transparency and honesty on this journey. AND what a fun perk to have another video out so soon!!!
Girl you’re such a boss!!! I’m from Arizona and wanted to let you know having a black roof can make your house a lot hotter in the summer. You probably already knew that but I thought I would warn you just in case!! Keep killing it!!
‘Rachel, just focus on...’ - wait - I’m not the only one talking to myself while working on a project alone?? Pheww, what a relief😄. Love these videos, very motivating and inspirering to see you buckle up and getting down to work. Keep up the good work❤️
Honestly I like this broken down format better for your videos because it means videos more often with less stress on you to put out something with a big finished product ❤️
Honestly, watching your videoes gave me the confidence to just start a project and learn as I go myself! thank you so much for doing what you're doing!
I love the idea of breaking it down to manageable pieces. When I was in grad school, I got very scared when I saw all the things I needed to do to get my doctorate. My advisor told me to stop doing that. She said - just look at what’s needed for the NEXT thing. It’s amazing when you’re finally done with a big project like yours to look back and realize how many things you did, each one a NEXT thing. The framed out and subfloored bathroom area feels like a big step. If I were you, I’d keep going back to admire it!
I'm liking this series. It's always a treat to watch you take on jobs alone , to see how your mind works, what makes you tick and tock. As I've said b4 your one of the most strongest woman I watch. You've been blessed with the talent to take things apart , see their worth and build it back up again. You're fun to watch because your so down to earth, your moments of UGGH! are nutty, the 4 legged kiddos are adorbs, you just rock, and so do your friends
Your a spirited human. I've watched you grow. This move to Joshua Tree was your rebirth. You should be extremely proud of who you've become and continue to become. Everyday is a learning experience, whether you do something or just sit back to breath.
miss rachel metz!!! stop apologizing for your content girl! we love you and appreciate the process. I much more appreciate seeing it in real time, but also love crazy makeovers! but we’ve been here for you we ain’t leaving, no need to say sorry anymore for doing what’s best for you ❤️
When looking at your space…I picture a full-length sink/vanity/countertop going from wall to wall from the side of the tub to the black iron pipe. Does that make sense?! 😆 So when you essentially walk in, you would turn to the right and directly be facing a single sink with counter space to the left of the sink. You would sit on the toilet (currently where the toilet was) and face the sink. Also for that dead space at the end of the tub, you could utilize that space for shelving above for essentials, plants, cute knick-knacks. Seeing it how it is now bare, gives room for so much more creative thinking. I can’t wait to see it all completed.
Mike is always a hoot. The only thing I remember learning from my Dad about toilets is that you should put a rag or something in the hole. There are gases that can come up and you don't want to get any debris in the hole while you are demoing.
Only tip I have is get rid of the dust mask and get a respirator. They are available where I am now, haven't been for a year. But those actually protect you.
I’m so excited for this renovation. It’s actually how I found you a while ago! I myself have restored a 1978 Toyota micro mini camper. And was searching for renovations on giant vintage trailers. I’ve now watched many of your videos and cheering you on through your projects!
Love watching your builds and demos. All I can think about is how awesome a large mirrored barn door (mirror facing into the living room) would look to divide up the bedroom/bathroom from the rest of the space, but still give lots of light and privacy if needed. And it'd work open or closed!
Rachel, girl you are such an inspiration to all those young ladies out there, also your so blessed to have such wonderful friends,so many people think they have friends but you only truly know when they are prepared to come and get stuck in with you. Loving the process your making and it totally makes sense to do it in sections so you don't get overwhelmed also. Your doing a fabulous job and so looking forward to that door! 😀
I really appreciate all the steps you show and the breakdown of the process in different videos! It helps me too in my projects (diy related or not) when I think how you go to work. Thank you for your videos!
There's something so satisfying just seeing demo being done. Can not wait to see this as an end project, however, seeing each step is therapeutic AND super inspirational to start my own projects! Thanks Rachel ♥
I really appreciate that you show how messy and tough these projects can be, and how much prep can be involved. I think lots of DIYer glaze over how hard and time consuming this really is.
Heck yeeeeees!!!!! Can’t wait to see this little Tiny home!!! 🤩 You rock so much and I’m all here for the shewolf personality that the desert has brought out of you!!! ♥️🙌🏻
That new subfloor is so gratifying. I actually like how it looks! I'm so happy to see you slowing down, looking to learn and not just bulldoze it. That's when we learn :) Have you considered just pulling all the cast iron and coming back with pvc? I mean, it seems like it would be easy to do a replumb honestly. Go to home depot, hang out in the plumbing section and find one of the old guys that shows up in that section. They are ALWAYS the guys that *know* what you need. Like, they do this for a retirement job after plumbing for 40 years. That guy. The inside of those walls still bug me. lol. the rust makes me wonder what's going on. Condensation? I would consider grinding and priming it. Lastly, Blaze is your little shadow
Excuse miss Rachel! No shame on you. We grow & we learn! Thank you for sharing!! Xx I would insulate the floor too! It will make a huge difference with temperature control both cool & warm. I am in love with push to open doors I can see making some awesome storage walls with these in the living area. They look so clean looking. I cannot wait to see it all 🥰🥰
Oh do I so relate to getting frustrated with demo even new building. I hate when things just don’t go the way they should. This is a huge project wow, impressive. This is going to be amazing. That Diablo blade is the bomb. Mike is always fun, just jumps in get er done. Cast iron gets brittle as it ages, then you would need rubber fittings to marry other pipe to it.
Hi Rach, exciting getting started. I completely understand why you would phase the build. It feels like the project is so much easier when you break the work down into chunks.

definitely down to the brass tacks! I don't think that I have seen the skeleton of a mobile before. My husband and I have always lived in mobiles. We bought our first home that was a 12X70 and the people who had lived in it before had taken out a bedroom to enlarge the livingroom! I had a huge (!) livingroom! In comparison to the rest of the house! but we have never gutted one before so this is really interesting to me to see the guts of the building itself! thanks for the vid! I know you are going to make this absolutely beautiful! xoxo
everytime I watch a new video of your house, it's like I get addicted and I cannot WAIT for the next one. The process is just so interesting to me, it's like a cliff hanger everytime
That new framed out bathroom looks so much better, it's still cute and small (I agree obviously with it being a trailer) but what a massive difference giving a little bit extra wiggle room to the bathroom, hope you can move everything around like you hope but it still work out great if you can't. Xxx
Ong my mom n sis finally moved also but they stayed together n got blessed with a property like u 360 sunset sunrise views dirt free space open yard all around mountains farm animals all thi above n the owner said I can build a house on the property it’s so huge n I went to Walmart today saw a Joshua tree shirt n thought omg I need to let Rachel know I just uploaded the video of the house I want to buy tools n drills n saws so bad bc I’m ready to get my Metz diys going on in their home lol
I love it here!!!I miss a couple upload so I can binge watch, however I tore up my carpet in my bedroom and got ambitious😵💫 and wanted to put down the flooring, but my boyfriend says no because I’m gonna mess 🙄it up so I’m just here to live through you!!!
I enjoy how you break things down, I find it really interesting. I have a hard time asking for help too, so can relate. Blaze is so cute watching you work!
to me, it sounds more difficult and time consuming to not do all the subfloor at once, all the framing at once, all the drywall at once, ETC. But I totally get that once your brain figures something out in a certain way, that's just the way that you have to do things in order to stay concentrated and motivated and keep on track! I'm doing a small shed project right now and could totally understand what you meant. Also, wouldn't we all love to have a friend like Mike lol.
Nice job!!! Keeping it real with all the mishaps and learning on the job makes these DIYs so relatable. AND is that a shoutout to Muaw[Stephanie] at the end there!? I going to say it was✌🏽😉
I love your videos!! I found some 4 years ago videos and you should be so proud of how far you have come..P.a… so I joying learning new skills with you!!!
🌓Hey love, how are you doing sugar? This video was super special to me because of the authenticity of your growth and being transparent in how it really is. I am so proud of you honey, for you to step out and grow even when it was uncomfortable, you did it. That’s maturity on so many incredible levels. I’m sending you a huge hug and just know I am so inspired by you and I look forward to seeing and hearing what you have learned, and your accomplishments and even the ugly parts. Don’t forget to make time for you babe, I’m not saying you’re not doing it, I’m just saying don’t forget to continue to do it. Love ya and give your fur babies a hug for me. Lol. 🤎👏🏾👏🏾😘💕💕
Today I'm turning 25 and I couldn't start my day better than watching your work. You're such an inspiring woman! And it's so satisfying to watch you rip apart this walls hahah it's like watching a feminist ripping apart the patriarchy 💥🤘 love
Loving the new slowed down videos! I totally agree that watching a vid where they tackle a bunch is overwhelming. Can’t wait for the next vid-saw the window on IG 😍 also are you keeping the tub?
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz nice! I feel like so many people are just ripping out the tubs and putting in walk in showers! Sometimes its nice to have a soak 🛁
Amazing work, amazing vibe! Love seeing the whole process. Just my 3 cents: Swinging doors in a tight space gets annoying over time (even though that welded arch door sounds gorgeous and I want to see that fo sho!). Seeing the side of the toilet through the door will give gross Feng Shui. BUT I know you'll do a kickass job. You always do and you always grow and learn. Happy to be able to watch!! XO
Not sure if anyone explained trailer construction.. or if you mentioned it or not.. but the underside of the trailer needs to have insulation and a bottom to keep rats, mice snakes etc from making nests etc.. then lay the subfloor.. unless you just hire someone to do it.. the underside.. as mine I did wire mesh to keep those critters out.. hope this makes sense

Just pausing the video real quick to ask where you found that hammered copper pot?!?! It is gorgeous!!!
This was a fun demo day! Bathroom 2.0 is exciting 😁😁
Everyone needs a friend like you
The way Mr Mike rips into the old floor boards without gloves, is savage but poop on the same hands is so not tolerated lol😱 As always love the content. Love how raw you are!!
Haha 😂 Mr. Mike man
😂😂 bad idea
I love seeing the whole process of this project. Your not crazy for taking the necessary steps you do to make sure it’s something your going to commit yourself to. Bravo 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼

That subfloor is actually so pretty! I would use that as my floor.... LOL
It’s beautiful, I agree!
Could have rotting or maybe she wants to insulate?

Thank you and me too! I cannot wait to share the level we're about to dive into
Your timing is perfect every time I swear
🤍
You probably plan on covering that wood subfloor cuz that's what you do with a subfloor . . .but snap!! That woodgrain and color variation is so pretty!!!
Isn't it so lovely? I wanted nice subfloor on the off chance I decide to keep it 🙃
also mr. mike is such a hype man. i’m so glad he’s there for you!
Rachel, I’m still getting those MCM vibes with lots of windows to take in those gorgeous sunsets (and views). Can’t wait for more!

I love the way you talk to yourself. “Rachel let’s just focus on taking out the floor” 😂❤️ so cute
😂
It’s a really good idea to phase the project the way you are. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
Thank you!

AH ok I will.
Thanks, Mr. Mike. I will be using that phrase with my boss next week: “We are more than likely doing the right thing,”.
Haha our life motto over here.
When looking at your space…I picture a full-length sink/vanity/countertop going from wall to wall from the side of the tub to the black iron pipe. Does that make sense?! 😆 So when you essentially walk in, you would turn to the right and directly be facing a single sink with counter space to the left of the sink. Mike is always a hoot. The only thing I remember learning from my Dad about toilets is that you should put a rag or something in the hole. There are gases that can come up and you don't want to get any debris in the hole while you are demoing.
Yes! I learned that in the episode with Jess 😂😩
I love how Mr. Mike said “We are more than likely doing the right thing.” 😁 I feel that way 90% of the time. ✨
Haha
Only tip I have is get rid of the dust mask and get a respirator. They are available where I am now, haven't been for a year. But those actually protect you.
Thank you!
I’m so excited for this renovation. It’s actually how I found you a while ago! I myself have restored a 1978 Toyota micro mini camper. And was searching for renovations on giant vintage trailers. I’ve now watched many of your videos and cheering you on through your projects!
Oh so rad!
Love watching your builds and demos. All I can think about is how awesome a large mirrored barn door (mirror facing into the living room) would look to divide up the bedroom/bathroom from the rest of the space, but still give lots of light and privacy if needed. And it'd work open or closed!
I love that you slowed your pace and doing what you wanna do! 💙
Thank you! It's been really lovely.
Thank you so much!
A horse water trough would be cool for the tub. Light weight and inexpensive.
This trailer is going to be Fab. Fun to see Mike.
I really appreciate all the steps you show and the breakdown of the process in different videos! It helps me too in my projects (diy related or not) when I think how you go to work. Thank you for your videos!
Oh hell yeah. Of course!
There's something so satisfying just seeing demo being done. Can not wait to see this as an end project, however, seeing each step is therapeutic AND super inspirational to start my own projects! Thanks Rachel ♥
Yay!
I really appreciate that you show how messy and tough these projects can be, and how much prep can be involved. I think lots of DIYer glaze over how hard and time consuming this really is.
Thank you for watching!
It's so lovely to watch you work, and it's great to see you get help!
Thank you!
Heck yeeeeees!!!!! Can’t wait to see this little Tiny home!!! 🤩
You rock so much and I’m all here for the shewolf personality that the desert has brought out of you!!!
♥️🙌🏻
Thank you for the love!
That new subfloor is so gratifying. I actually like how it looks! I'm so happy to see you slowing down, looking to learn and not just bulldoze it. That's when we learn :)
Have you considered just pulling all the cast iron and coming back with pvc?

Looking forward to your final outcome. I’ll be along for the ride!
Yay!
Lol. 🤎👏🏾👏🏾😘💕💕
Love you!
Today I'm turning 25 and I couldn't start my day better than watching your work. You're such an inspiring woman! And it's so satisfying to watch you rip apart this walls hahah it's like watching a feminist ripping apart the patriarchy 💥🤘 love
LOVE you! Happy birthday!
Loving the new slowed down videos! I totally agree that watching a vid where they tackle a bunch is overwhelming. Can’t wait for the next vid-saw the window on IG 😍 also are you keeping the tub?
Yes!
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz nice! I feel like so many people are just ripping out the tubs and putting in walk in showers! Sometimes its nice to have a soak 🛁
Hell yeah! You’re dialing it in!
Slowly but surely.
Very excited to see how this comes song ♥️♥️
Amazing work, amazing vibe! Love seeing the whole process. Just my 3 cents: Swinging doors in a tight space gets annoying over time (even though that welded arch door sounds gorgeous and I want to see that fo sho!). Seeing the side of the toilet through the door will give gross Feng Shui. BUT I know you'll do a kickass job. You always do and you always grow and learn. Happy to be able to watch!! XO
Annnnd I’m here for Professor DIY Miss Metz class! 🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻
🥰
The new wood looks beautiful 😍 you have some amazingly helpful friends!

🥰
👍🏻👍🏻looking good .. step by step is a smart way 💖💖💖💖💖
Rachel uploading makes me so happy
Yay!
I am holding off on subfloor because I need to redo the plumbing! But yes I am updating and insulating once I get the plumbing all solid ❤️🔥.
But I need a shirt that says “ Time lapse this shit because I’m about to get pissed” 🤣🤣
Hahahaha
I’m loving the new Rachel! Just show us absolutely EVERYTHING you can! We will watch it 🤩 Hope you’re ok! 😘🇧🇷😘
LOVE YOU

Cut the main drain leaving the trailer then run pvc and tie the drain back in with a fernco
Yay !!! I’m excited to watch !!!
