The first room makeover in my home is finally complete and it feels like I can breathe. Although this has been two years in the making, I'm not beating myself up for living life throughout my time here and making the decision to now start this massive project. I’ve been working behind the scenes on leaning into this new chapter and figuring out/feeling this new Rachel. Thank you for being here - I am excited to see where this house takes us xx.

Your designs are truly unique! Not a lot of designers out there can really honestly say that. You’re genuine and also it’s really cool you keep things around you that hold sentimental value for any reason and you design a space around people. That’s what you’re supposed to do imo. Oh my dear, I will never stop admiring you! I love "too much" because minimalist spaces don't reflect the personality of their inhabitant. They remind me of catalogue pictures. I want to be surrounded by my memories, gifts from loved ones and greenery. This is my idea of home, where those who are no longer with me are still with me. Thank you for this video!

You did it! I don't think it's too much at all. Adding that glass door and bringing in the outside was a great idea. It's not only way brighter but it highlights the plant wall and all the wood grain. I love the little items on that shelf that make it feel so personal. It's a room anyone would enjoy being in.
p.s. It doesn't feel claustrophobic at all -- that was the case for the room in its original (when you moved in) form, not now.

loving this room, the only "too much decor" i see is beautifully loved and cared for plants and i dont know anyone who would complain, it adds a bit of whimsy to the very structured built in wood and gives it this natural living wood feel.

This room is a lush little jungle in the desert! All of the treasures you've lovingly placed around the space add interest, not overwhelm. You've always had a great eye for beautiful, unique curation. And when you see that a room could use a door, you simply cut one out. Bravo! People with vision are often misunderstood; don't waste your time over explaining or apologizing. Chasing a brave idea and seeing where it takes you isn't for everybody ;)

I just lost my dog of 12+ years last month. I am a very solitary person, and he was hands-down my best friend and little baby. The world still doesn't make any sense without him.
I picked up his ashes just yesterday from the vet. I still cry almost every day because I miss him so much but I see they are selfish tears. He is okay. I'm not.
He hated when I was upset, and he could tell that I was about to get upset even before I did and he would be there looking at me. I know he wouldn't want me to be upset.
I chant nembutsu for him every day.
Anyways. I just really feel your loss and I am inspired by what you are doing and how you are transforming the pain into something.
