- Unboxing a new Segway X160 E Bike and putting it to the test off road on some great dirt bike single track. This bike impressed me in a massive way. The suspension, power, torque, and over all quality were better than I expected but the range was lacking in a huge way. At the end of my first test ride I had %15 batter after just 5.67 miles and 38 minutes of riding.
I bought this bike to convert to a Sur Ron X without waiting for a Luna Cycles preorder. Sub to watch the process and see if I save any money building the E bike in this way.

I just got one a couple weeks ago. I am 45, weight 170lb and have ZERO dirtbike/motorcycle experience. I have rode bicycles my entire life. This little bike is my favorite thing I have ever bought. I live in Las Vegas, surrounded by desert. It is perfect for exploring!!! I am not jumping or looking to break bones, so it is perfect for me. I have 135 miles on it already. I also bought a second battery. Best upgrade, lol!

The small rear tire also help with the torque, as it acts like if you had a 64 tooth sprocket in the back.
The same setup on 19”s would probably have stalled.

The motor is different as well. It has a different wind then the x260 or Sur Ron motor. Might want to look into it.

Pretty decent starter dirt ebike for a kid/teen or female. Adult males would want the Segway 260 which is a stock sur ron.
I hope you can find ways to add the small solar panel, charge controller, little DC air compressor, and power inverter for a tiny chainsaw and other small AC powered stuff. I feel like there is so much potential there. I have a solar setup on my motorcycle trailer and it is super useful.

As a guy who is over 200… like 220 to be exact. If I were to buy a x160, what should my first upgrade be? I want to basically make a stock surron, maybe add a bac4000 down the line.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I'm going to upgrade everything anyway why would I start from a Sur Ron/x260. This makes way more sense and you're saving so much more money. I got lucky and found a practically brand new one for $2k I'm now just waiting for things to get back in stock so I can start my upgrade journey SUPER STOKED !!

I thought about getting an x160 issues as well but in my research I thought I saw that the motor wasn't the same spec as a sur ron and so I didn't get it. I guess I was wrong

Can you just change the rear sprocket and get less twerk and more speed? Thinking about buying one and just getting a battery and changing the sprocket. Can the stock controller take the bigger battery?
I haven’t confirmed the stock controller can take a bigger battery yet but yes you can change figuring very easily on the back sprocket
I'm debating getting this or a full sized surron. I'm 6'2 260lbs, could you do some sort of 200+ weight tests to see how that affects it?
I would go for the full sized bike. The suspension on this is really weighted for riders under 175

I have tried 58T on a 19" wheel and found it too low, now can't imagine how it must be hitting every rock that's on the trail on these smaller wheels!
For real it was not comfortable. Or safe for that matter

Man, you say it’s softer?? When I ride my son’s X160 compared to my LBX, I think it feels like a rock! The rear spring especially on the X160 is way less plush IMO.
I tried a little red knob at the bottom of the shock in the rear that softens it up or hardens
I'm 1m83 esque it's not too big for this machine I would really like to buy it myself but I'm afraid it's too small ?
Moves good and with a lightweight teenager or someone light it would definitely fly and be plenty in my opinion.

I would only recommend the X160 if you plan on upgrading it to a Surron x I’ll be doing a video on this soon and you’ll be able to see how much it cost me overall.

Finally, a comprehensive review of the X160. Is the frame and swing arm the same size as the full size Sur Ron? This would be a more cost effective purchase for anyone who's going to mod everything else anyway.
Yes! The frame is exactly the same and that is exactly why I bought it. I will be doing a full video on upgrading it and talking about how much everything cost

I got the x260 on the way right now should have it in a couple days and I can't wait to rip on it I'm in a small desert town so I can't wait to stop using my car and be able to cut through places I can't in my car also I think a portable solar charger would be cool just in case you go to far you can post up for a bit while it charges enough to get home or to a spot for the actual charger bur I'm on flat ground in my town so I know it will go a lot further then 3 miles hahaha
What is the seat hight in inches?
These seg ron's are the great. They feel like a 125cc that is mountain bike nimble

The hills suck the life out of the range. That was a real world worst case scenario of a ride. Topspeed and around town stuff would be cool. My son is 6'2" 245lbs & I'm 6'1" 275 would the Suron be too small for us?
I will do a test around town next week. If you are looking just to cruise around town i think the Surron X would be fine. just preload the shocks, get the peg support and rise the bars.

I suppose you could, instead of a power inverter, maybe install a battery charger for cordless electric power tools. Something like that would be pretty legit I suppose.
That would be! Once I get a few solar panels I am planning on using this battery for storage when I’m not using it in the bike

Dude was gonna get a sur ron, but kinda costly. Im about 155lbs. I use to ride all the time. You think I would be good for it? Definitely would upgrade eventually.
It could handle your weight no problem but the X160’s range isn’t great. I haven’t done an official test yet but I think the 260 or Surron x has twice the range

Edwin I think you are wrong about the motor. The Segway X160 has a 300w brushless motor and the suron/x260 has a 700w brushless motor.
I will have to test it and see. Most info online said it was the same but we will see
Not sure where you read it was the same. The Segway website and others clearly show in the specs the X160 has a smaller motor. Unless the 300w motor is as capable as the 700w motor with the 60v battery and x controller, you might want to edit this video or include a disclaimer that your claims of them having the same motor is false.
