Doug the kind of guy to call an equalizer a DJ experience.
Straight Up that’s what dj’ing is
ok
@@eVerProductions1 that dip shit thaught they just jockied disc's lol
Hes still a virgin lmao
I like how he describes an equalizer like it's an alien artifact.
XD lol
These youngins, I tell ya. Lol.
He called a door tweeter a subwoofer one time. Doug knows shockingly little about car audio. It's weird.
"It's like your Eclipse head factory head unit gave you an opportunity to have your own DJ experience"
Alex A hehe
I’ve always wondered why Doug never talks about a car’s sound system when talking about quirks and features....And this explains why.
He is totally ignorant on audio. It's his kryptonite!
Quincy Poaches He’s totally ignorant, period.
I'm always so sad when he has opportunities to review the UNREAL oe sound systems he's lucky enough to encounter.
Merc's Bermester, Ford GT's Mcintosh, and especially Pagani's Sonus Faber... All missed opportunities to satisfy us curious audiophiles.
ELEVATEOFFROAD.COM I’d think Doug would at least show Audi’s and Aston Martin’s Bang and Olufsen’s tweeters pop out of the dashboard, as those are quite a quirk even for a non-audio guy.
But a lot of those premium sound systems made by super high-end brands like Bermester in M-B, Bang and Olufsen in Audi et. al., and Meridian in Jaguar and Land Rover aren’t entirely made by those brands, as a single pair of entry-level speakers from many of those brands would cost the same or more than the cost of the entire sound system option (e.g. Meridian’s entry level speaker is a $3000 boom box, which is more than the Meridian option). So they’re not at the same level of quality of speakers those brands make, and a high-end aftermarket system (such as my Hertz Mille Legends powered by a JL Audio Slash 300/4v3 amp) would blow most away. The one exception I could see would be Sonus Faber in the Paganini since that’s an extreme limited production care and everything about it is perfect.
@@falkenlaser Awesome information! Thanks 😉😉
That's the most unusual way to describe a graphic EQ I've ever heard.
Doug the type of guy to know everything about cars but not know what an equalizer is.
Roman G loved it.
And think they're exclusive to car stereos.
Beat me to it....
Roman G doug is showing his age
love how he explained it xD
Doug the type of guy to have never seen an equalizer in 2018.
Back when Mitsubishi was cool 😢
I loved the brand one day... had 3 Mitsubishi. How could they screw it up soooo bad??
@@setahr fr they really made some best cars in the market
@@setahr They didn't screw it up. They just didn't care about it at all, after all they're a really huge conglomerate.
@@MrBrno Yes from their point of view, not so much from the fans point of view. So its kind of emotional for me so "screwed" is the right term for me.
"...these weird, numbered sliders. They make you a DJ."
Oh Dougie...

THIS is a 1988 Doug Demuro without shorts
Please do "Doug the type of guy" content on your channel.
Oh Doug... you don’t mess with another man’s EQ. How could you.
Doug: the type of guy to play with the flash-to-pass and not notice it's the same high beams shining through clear plastic.
I was yelling it into my phone
That was the most idiotic part of this video, holy crap
That and the EQ being something rare got me.
I said the same thing. Then again... he had no idea what an equalizer was for the radio was, either sooooo....
Dave Louisell Yeah, but you've gotta remember, he's only 30. So when he was a young kid, cars with equalizers were becoming a thing of the past...
Doug, this car is AWD, has a t3/t4 turbo, deep cuts in the seats to hold you in place, a large vertical shifter, a dashboard designed for a guage cluster, and a wheel that isn't cluttered with unneeded buttons. The 4G63T motor came with a butterfly valve system for pulling in more air at higher speeds. It came running like 14 second quarter mile times, 195 horse power, doing over 120mph from the factory. The GSX is a great racecar platform on a budget. That's what it's best for. I loved mine.
PS: I've seen these with sub 8 second quarter mile times. I was building a road racing car when I sold mine and the person who bought it was stripping it to the metal and making it into a drag car.
Mean u can tune as crazy as evo's ? Same 4G engine

I wish modern car stereos still had 7 band equalizers...you're lucky to get Treble, mid-range and bass now
To be fair to modern cars, they do have much better sounding stereos nowadays. I've been in loads of friend's cars from the last 5 or so years, even budget ones, and they all sound great. Compare that to older/cheaper cars from 10+ years ago and they were a lot lot worse so an EQ would actually help with improving audio quality, in some cases.
Plus...I can still change it anyway, it's just moved to my phone rather than the car.
In the meantime I have some Kenwood head unit and a $40 pair of Sony speakers from Walmart and I'm happy with it.
Could be better, but beats the old ratty stock speakers.
Yeah, I have Bass, mid, and treble in my 13 Mazdaspeed 3, and that seems cool compared to the shitty Cobalt I had before that only had treble and bass.
Brent Boswell my BMW does
Aftermarket is the answer, as a music guy i could not live without an EQ, i get kinda sad when i hear people listening tunes with ready set EQ:s.
My first sports car as a young adult and my favorite. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I loved how this car drove, cornered, was so stable at high speeds.
I had a 1991 eclipse for a few years In the early 2000, when I was in college, It was easy Easy to drive and park, had a cute interior, dashboard and trunk, Of course mine was the baseline model, at least it had power windows, but the thing had 95 horsepower But I seriously do miss the heck out of that car and if I could have ever clicked my heels and had the 135 hp DOHC engine installed, not even the Turbo, I would've been happy
I graduated H.S. in 1990. For the next few years, I sooo wanted an Eagle Talon TSI!
I just love hearing the amusement and bemusement as you discuss the "odd" features from back in the day!
I was the same. Graduated in 89 and a few years later bought a 93 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. LOVED that car.
almost the identical story here as well..... ended up with a used 1990 Acura Integra LS hatchback instead. Loved that car but wanted a TSI in the worst way!
I hear you! I . in 1991 and entered the Air Force that summer. I wanted one too but it wasn't possible on an Airman's pay.
Aux in a 1990 this is definitely a 100/100
lxr that alone would have compelled me to buy one. That was wayyyyy ahead of its time
No need to Install an ugly aftermarket reciever!
lxr that’s mitsu for you, they sure have a thing for high tech, my vr4 and sl 3000gt both have oem receivers and come with an aux
My 2009 car doesn’t have it...
I would hit like, but then it wouldn't be at 69
Hilarious watching Doug struggle to describe an equalizer.
It's like he's completely out of touch with anything that's not an exotic or a supercar.
mpuone it's almost like the Doug score is made to favor supercars and luxury suvs...
go watch my first video ever in nba history and leave a like... oh and sub!!!.. oh and stay tuned for future videos!!! :)
JDM DROOLERS screw off
Levers.
I am SO depressed. He keeps saying "Back in 1990". I was, 18 back then, and it seems all perfectly, NORMAL, to me.
God I've gotten old...
It's ok...i was 2 and it makes me feel old too.
You are ancient. I’m sorry.
I was just 7 but still makes me mad!
I was 18 in 1980, cheer up. It’s all good.
@ Jess4metoo
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. YOU'RE ALMOST 60 NOW.
*realizes Im almost 30*
FUCK.
A car from 1990 with a aux jack is way ahead of it's time. Never seen a car from this era with aux!
My 2006 Hyundai Elantra didn't have an aux jack
This entire car is far away of it's time...I still have one
I had a 1984 Isuzu Impulse that had an aux jack and also had a very complicated and sophisticated computer interface. I bought mine used and it never worked. I wanted to replace it with a working one, but I remember they were going for more than $800 used.
I think most Mitsubishi’s from this era came stock with that. Mitsubishi was a very tech focused brand back then. The tech from the 3000gt vr-4, active aero, electronic adjustable suspension, 4 wheel steering, and a lot more.Mitsubishi also designed and made their own turbos, which Subaru borrowed for a little bit during the 90s
My friend had one in his 80's Opel Omega A, I was blown away by that and said "No way thats real" but it was!
Doug looks 40 yet manages to talk about the radio EQ like he was born in the year 2000.😅
Came to the comments to say this
Right? Like dude, you're older than me, and you don't know what an equalizer is? It's like when you make a character and dump all the points into one stat.
ditto
I think he was fucking with us
it takes a special kind of man to grow up to look like someone who could just as easily pass for 45 as 25 : /
Doug, the high beam in the headlight lowered position still comes from the main headlight unit. It just shines through the light bar in that stowed position.
GearUP-Go! Was going to make the same comment. Smart function ;)
Wow, that’s actually a pretty clever design. How did Doug miss that? He would have been so impressed.
GearUP-Go! Shit I just commented this and now I see that someone else has already noticed. I am also surprised Doug didn't notice this
They do this so it doesn't waste time while opening when you could be flashing
LamborghiniReven1000 That's what she said
Wow, I didn't expect even cars in 1990s have pop-up headlights. This car has one of my favourite gauge cluster design, and even pop-up headlights or rear end design that it was similar to the Pontiac Fiero back in 1980s. The GSX even has a turbocharger.😍
The Chevrolet Corvette had popup headlights in 2004. :)
Man this I remember driving one of those was absolutely a thrill !! Definitely one of the coolest cars in the 90’s
Still a blast to drive these.
I've never heard such explanation of an graphic EQ.
And still not explain what it does properly.
It's a way to adjust high, mid, and low frequencies for the sound, Dougie.
Haha I thought the same. What a long explanation for two words really: EQ bands
I was just going to comment on this. 'Levers'. Did he miss the 80's & 90's?
It was weird he didn't know what that was lol
I think what he means to say, that the car stereo contains an equalizer. An eighties gizmo...but then again, he was probably born in the eighties...
90s was the high time for Mitsubishi. The Starion, the Eclipse, the 3000GT (GTO) and obviously the Lancer Evolution. Those were the days...
hell even their SUVs were rockin house!
I had a 92 montero 5 speed... it was slow but awesome
I miss when they had sports cars.
The Galant VR-4 was pretty badass as well
The Lancer Evo VI "Tommi Makinen Edition" is the greatest Mitsubishi of all time. IIMO.
My dad used to have a 93 Eclipse. I was in a band, and we fit my whole drum set with cymbals and everything in it. With both of us riding in it at the same time.
Had a 92 model with 300hp back in the day. Way too much fun, and surprised many Mustangs, 300ZX TT, Dodge Stealth TT/3000GT, 911's etc Thanks for the drive down memory lane.
It's called an equalizer Doug, an Equalizer.
Vehicle Virals yeah... I thought he was dumbing it down for his younger viewers but that doesn't make sense either because everyone knows what an eqalizer is...they make software one these days.
strange.
We even bought and added equalizers to our car stereos back in the 80s and 90s.
Does he really not know what that is? He has to know it’s an equalizer...right?
That part was pretty frustrating to watch.
It seems like he was too young when most of the things he considered "weird" were widely used.
I expect the comments gonna be about the equalizer, I'm not disappointed.
metalperslfx that’s exactly and the only reason I came to the comments section too! 🥴
A couple of things to note. The sliders on the stereo are collectively called a graphic equalizer and a lot of '80s stereos had them. Going further back, lots of people would install custom stereos with an extra power amp that had one of these equalizers built in. Manufacturers just started adding them to the OEM head units due to their popularity. Also, on the power locks with these Japanese cars, you could unlock the driver door from the passenger side using the key (and vice versa IIRC). You simply turned the key twice in the unlock direction and it unlocked the other side (and the back doors if it was a 4-door). I think they were trying to figure out a way to have some of the functionality of keyless entry without using a transmitter fob, a thing that I miss every time I have to pull the big honking key fob from my pocket when I want to drive my car. I hate the bulky newer keys and key fobs taking up all that space in my pocket. Hopefully this gets remedied at some point and they finally miniaturize this stuff.
the stock infinity stereo with equalizer was amazing! I had it in the 96 TSI and no one could believe it was stock..especially in that day
Dont the pop-ups just shine through the plastic bits while they are folded in ?
Marthijn van Oorschot Correct. There aren’t 2 high beams like he claims. The standard high beams flash while closed and through clear lenses.
Marthijn van Oorschot that's what I thought too
I guess he didnt see that when he look at it. i have to rewind the video a few times before i noticed it
I was just going to post this
Oh wow now that's clever.
When Mitsubishi was actually cool 😢
now we have the mirage 💩
Rip eclipse. The new crossover doesn't get the honor of that name from me.
The evo is alright
Dillon Tannehill , there is no more evo.
I love the Mirage, but it’s a Very different tool. 50 mpg is a different value than 6.7 0-60. I do think they need to expand the model range, though.
Turbo AWD Mirage!
Good memories. Got my Laser RS Turbo up to 140mph. The steering was really good compared to other cars I've owned.
I have one too it’s my first car never selling it
The best part about these cars was that you could add almost 100 hp with exhaust, boost controler, and good gas. I had a 92 TSI AWD for many years and loved it - rarely did someone know what it was when they were new. And it was actually reliable if you tuned it carefully (monitoring knock etc.), didn't push beyond safe limits.. kept good oil/gas and didn't beat up the transmission with fast shifting.
Doug the type of guy to not have a f-ing clue what a 90s EQ looks like
At least those levers gave Doug a DJ experience.
Doug is a type a guy.
Doug, the type of guy who's never seen a graphic equalizer before.
Amazing right?
There's probably a lot of things car related this joke of a narrator has never seen, like the oil drain plug, and oil filter on ANY car he's owned, a set of wrenches and a ratchet and sockets. Bet he's never jacked a car up, or changed a flat tire either. Probably calls AAA if he gets a flat, and never leaves the air conditioned interior of his car! Slips his AAA card out through the barely cracked window to the AAA driver! LOL!
Dreadnought59 broke fucker he'd rather pay someone like you. Some guy who gets a kick out of killing himself at a dead end job. Someone who hasn't driven 20 million dollars worth of vehicles a week. You aren't anybody you never will be, DOUG IS.
Or door inserts, or window buttons that stay down until the window is fully opened or closed....
There is nothing graphic about that equalizer
12:40 Doug the car guy discovered the magic of an 'equalizer'...
I had a 93 laser in 2005, it was an amazing vehicle, it ran high 12s with very few upgrades. As he is explaining this car I feel like he explaining my arm or leg, it became an extention of my body. It was amazing!!!
Also doug it dosent have 2 sets of high beams. Its just the pop up lights shinging through the clear plastic when they are down.
Thank you, I thougt I was the only one who noticed and was about to make a comment.
yes i was about to say that
Doug is a car reviewer on CZcams. Do you honestly expect him to research before posting a video?
bryceowen I can't tell if your being serious
No it's not. I don't know where you pulled that from. Day lights and night lights are different bulbs and those "clear plastics" are not clear from other side, so light can't go trough them anyway.
So we learned here that Doug have never heard about Graphical Equalizer, man that made me feel old...
Haha...he called them little silver levers that change the sound quality - Yes we are old.
Driver focused dashboards are awesome.
The only thing Doug has hid from the cops are his Pokemon cards
I thought you were “Broski”
And his pot gummies... he's not man enough to handle a bong hit... and his mom will get mad because her Plymouth laser had better class than that
Nicholas Scirollio cuz your drunk
whats wrong with Pokemon cards?
The Eclipse has had one of the worst fates ever... It started out as a cool little coupe (1st Gen) and even became a movie star (2nd Gen), then puberty hit it like a truck (3rd Gen) and it looked really weird for a few more years (4th Gen)... And now they turned it into a ridiculously ugly Crossover that looks like a modern version of the Pontiac Aztek or a jacked-up Prius (5th Gen, Eclipse Cross). What a shame - I feel you, poor little car.
The Stig's German Cousin the eclipse gt looks the best
XD betyar 4th gen looks nice imo
The Stig's German Cousin Found another CTzen.
iDroppedMeBaconCrossaint_kek That's what I was going to say!
I actually don't mind the Eclipse Cross... I just wish it came as an actual coupe. IMO there's an unexploited market for high riding sports crossovers...
Aww, this was my first car.. and how could doug not mention the weird fact that this car had two identical twin siblings.. that's right, who remembers Plymouth Laser, and the Eagle Talon... mine was actually a '92 Laser and oh, how it brings back memories to see this!
I owned a black on silver Eagle Talon TSI just like in the brief photo you popped up. The reason you felt the vague on center steering is because your test car didn't have the larger wheel and sporty tire package. I absolutely loved this car. It's slow by today's standard, but so is a BMW e30 (which I currently drive). In its day it was quick, giving Mustang 5.0 GTs a run for their money. And when the roads got slippery, it was game over for just about anything else. The AWD system worked flawlessly with nice rear wheel bias. I could go on, but thanks for bringing back the memories!
Doug is the kind of guy to review his own video and give it a doug score
With an "Aux In Cord" back in the 1990s; this car scores a perfect 10 already!!!!!
Crazy Candy Crush lmfao😂😂
+Will Serrano it was because CD players were just becoming widely available, but were still expensive. Many people's only CD player was a discman or similar. You hooked it up to your home stereo with a minijack->RCA plug then brought it to your car. While having a front facing jack was rare, tons of cars back then did have an "aux" setting that went to two RCA ports on the back of the head unit, and then the dealer or other installer would run the cable to the glovebox or something. I think a lot of JDM cars actually had the front minijack very early, due to the popularity of MiniDisc long before MP3 players and later smartphones were a thing, though it is strange to see it in the US designed and built eclipse, maybe that premium head unit was used in actual Japanese Mitsubishis as well.
Edit: it also makes sense in a higher end car stereo because those tape adapters sounded terrible, and someone shelling out for it at the time probably has a portable CD player and would want it to sound good
I loved these cars. Ive had a talon tsi and an eclipse gsx. Fun cars but they can nickle and dime you to death especially when they are built. Overall fun cars to drive.
A friend to me had a custom GS, lowerd with saffran fold metallic with matching seats. It was awesome and got alot of attentione. The center console was so comfortable in a driving experience and the gear box was so easy to operate with only flicks of the wrist.
Doug, WTF...you are not THAT young. There are interesting sliding levers on the audio system??? Jesus, you never heard of an equalizer?? EQ for short. I can't be that old that an EQ is a mystery!!!
I thought the same thing, the EQ was a great aftermarket purchase of the time also. . Back before double din stereos you had Pioneer cassette player with a clarion EQ under it. Those were the days
I was born in 1995 (22 years old) I've had a couple older stereos with full EQ settings. Also my computer itself allows you to adjust the EQ settings along with my music making programs.
This is guy who complained about the dome light later on, are you really that surprised?
Richard Sak / doug's man card status was always suspect, even if his videos have been entertaining.
😂 yup! this old dude thinks he is like 25, i think he is already in his forties
A car with an equalizer... Now that's something you won't see often nowadays
every modern car has it, just not analogue.
I'm amused that Doug apparently hadn't seen a graphic equalizer before. At that point in time all the cool stereos had them. I had a 92 Plymouth Laser RS AWD, unti the timing belt snapped. My favorite car I ever owned.
god forbid anyone knows frequency and not just a scale -6 to 6 haha
My 1997 Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 had and analog eq
Willie, now that's a cool 90's car. You're lucky to have owned one.
That is absolutely gorgeous! Inside and out! Seriously 👏 👏 👏! I had a 93 laser, my favorite car ever. It looked at least that good, but that was in 2000, and had a new paint job! I had very few mods, 3' from turbo, boost gage, blow off valve and it was doing high 12 sec 1/4. It was awesome.
I've watched numerous videos of yours, and I've never been so envious of you as I am while watching this.
0-60 in 6.7 sec was king back in 1990. I test drove one of these back then was “ blown” away.
Doug doesn't know what is an analogue equaliser.
Doug doesn’t know anything
Apparently neither do you. "Analog equalizer."
Martin Schmidt Tomāto, tomäto I suppose then.
Manbeast beat me to it....
For a guy who supposedly knows a lot about cars this is pretty disappointing. Tons of cars had these in the 80s and 90s. Also home stereos, computers, etc. ...
Ahhh the memories... this brings me back LOL My very first car I purchased on a loan was a base model red manual 1994 Eclipse. That car was so much fun. The sun roof leaked like a mofo and the valve cover gasket had to be changed every 6 months but the ample hatch space allowed for me to have a killer sound system and it hardly ever broke. The girls really loved it too! I pretty much drove this car thru all of my Air Force career and went from South Carolina all the way to California in it without cruise control too which really sucked
I owned a brand new '90 Eagle Talon Tsi, the equivalent of the Eclipse GS (both turbo, FWD). I still think of it as one of the most fun cars I've owned, and I loved the styling, performance and value. Only issues were torque steer, which the AWD version (GSX or Tsi AWD) cured, and warping front rotors. It was also the fastest car I've driven, as in 120 on the interstate. I wish I still had it and one actually just sold on Bring a Trailer for about $18K, but I realized it was just trying to take 30 years off my age, which it couldn't do, so I didn't bid. Now I wish I did. Oh well.
Ahh the 90s, good times.
maxxjett films ikr. I had a 96 Volvo 850R, was such a cool and fast car, loved that thing.
go watch my first video ever in nba history and leave a like... oh and sub!!!.. oh and stay tuned for future videos!!! :)
maxxjett films Excellent!
Hell yea
matias balbin
No experts every freakin where!..
I appreciate these old car reviews.
Chad Pugh I would love to see more cheap special editions as well. Like mid 90s mclaren pontiac grand prix
Agreed
The old car reviews are awesome. And there is always one or two moments where something seems so strange to him that its as close as we can get to watching an alien review the car.
Theres something behind you in ur profile pic
Salty der Regenmacher ???
I owned a 1991 Mits Eclipse GS dark blue turbo which I bought used in 1993. I remember test driving it and was impressed with how fast it was. I ended up installing Borbet rims, tinted the windows, and replaced the airbox with an HKS intake for an added15 HP and 5 more pounds of boost. With very little work the car was a quick sleeper and I was even able to beat the local 5.0 Mustangs in my neighborhood. I found the handling to be very good and overall the car was very reliable. I ended up selling it after 8 years and 90k on it. During that time I only replaced the front brakes and put a couple of sets of tires on it.
Watching this video brought back many memories of that car with the small back seating area and the automatic seat belts. That car was a lot of fun and I miss it.
I had 3 of them, my first car was a 91 eclipse non turbo, second 92 gst and my third a 90 gsx. I loved that car and will get another one day as my keeper car.
Doug's the type of guy to be too young to know what a graphic equalizer is on a stereo!
I'm younger and know. It's just things that were always around no matter whose house you were in, or what kind of parents you had.
Yep...just a new age pussy.
If he is surprised by an equalizer in a 1990 Mitsu, he will be blown away by a 1996 Saturn SL2.
😂😂 right
Yeah, these "old" 90s reviews make me feel old, but EQs are still alive in every level of AV equipment, I guess some just don't use them. Looks to be a simple cut and boost of that particular Hz. Even modern smart phones have that on board
Pretty sick car for 1990 and looks like someone took great care of it
I had that car! All black! Brand new off the showroom floor in 91. Loved it! Miss it terribly!
Doug, the type of guy to smash a water bottle with a car center console
What makes me sad is what Mitsubishi did, turning this iconic line of cars into a fucking SUV crossover. I was hoping it would only be one of those vague rumors we never hear from again. Last week I officially saw the commercial.
The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Should've been the Eclipse Sacrilege. I'll go hug my 2G and cry now...
They started screwing it up mid 90's. It was late 90's when they really went stupid.
I heard another rumor that the Lancer is coming back as a CUV also...
I remember when the concepts of the 2015-2016 Mitsubishi Eclipse were rumored. Looking back, I would’ve killed to have gotten that instead of the shit we got.
DareToBeDeviant I honestly think it's a preview of whats to come. I'm willing to bet they are bringing the Eclipse back for 2019 or 2020.
Mitsubishi had a good run from the the early 90's till 2009.
I think the lights the car uses to flash when de pop up headlights are down are the same ones, just reflecting.
Correct. They shine through the trim and you can see that it goes up with the lights.
they clearly shine through the clear trim underneath. SMH comon doug!!!
That's what I thought, awkward Doug thought they're separate
About to say the same thing.
Sometimes I wonder about how Doug misses the most obvious things. Especially because he looks for these "quirks"
That 4G63 engine was a legend!! Many of them were manufactured in Japan (by Mitsubishi), USA (by Chrysler and Mitsubishi), and Korea (by Hyundai)!!
This car looks brand new!!! Congrats to the proud owner 👏👏👏
The guy that owns that GSX seems like a very meticulous type of person by the way the garage and car look. I can just picture him the next time he drove it and found out his equalizer had been messed with.
Is also the owner of the pristine MR2. What compels a person to own a pristine MR2 and a pristine Eclipse GSX?
The fact that the Turbo AWD DSM's and turbo MR2 are 2 of the pivotal Japanese cars of the 90s , the glory yrs of Japanese performance cars
Not to mention, fact at that time the owner has kept under 58k Miles on a pristine 2000 GSX, very meticulous indeed.
I'm the owner of both the GSX and MR2. That's my garage. And I just changed the equalizer back to how I had it before. :)
I'm the owner. I just like taking care of my cars, that's all. :)
So an equalizer is a strange concept?
I was just thinking the same thing. You don't know what an equalizer is?
Now I know why the sound in his video are crap :)
Young kids... I tell you!
Yeah, that was odd.
Yeah, "I don't know much about car stereos" from someone that professionally drives and writes about cars, and doesn't even know the most basic functions of a standard radio, modern or "vintage".
I had this exact car, in white too and 5 speed too! Mine had a beefed up twin turbo. It was such a fun, fast little car. I loved it so much. I used to fly everywhere in that car. It just wanted to go and was so fun to drive, so it was impossible to drive slow lol. It was so small that you could just dip in and out of traffic. Perfect car to whip through the city (Boston) and parking was great because it fit in small spots. It was definitely one of my favorite cars ive owned. This brought me back to some great memories
The design of the body is genius. This car is older than I'am and it still looks something out of a sci-fi that's still a few years away. Glad to see there are still some around.❤
The down position flashers are in fact the headlights themselves. The plastic is transparent and it sees in to the headlight compartment.
I owened a Talon TSI AWD and this has bought back memories. I realky enjoyed it on long road trips because it was fast and the seats were awesome. Passing cars at high speed was a synch.
In the snow even :)
Same.. My '93 TSi was the first new car I bought. Many great memories.
@@rollinlikeariver7756 My 1992 Talon TSI got me through the 2 worst winters we ever had in my area. It was also fun in the summer!
no joke about the passing speed - wish it had 6th gear though!
Me too, my 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD Black was my first new car, and quickly made me forget my previous car, 1983 Camero. Still miss my Talon.
The eclipse is my absolute favorite car so i subbed also i love all the rest of your videos
I had this same exact Eclipse, absolutely loved that car. It was always reliable and fun to drive. Never had a problem with it at all
Doug, Doug, Doug, I love you man but c’mon, stop talking nonsense! The brights are not 2 sets, they are the same lights shining through when they are lowered. VW has had CC on the stock for decades after this car. Control buttons on the steering wheel is not a new thing either, they’ve existed at least 35 years before this car was produced. I know I’m older than you but you seriously don’t know what a Graphic EQ is?
Evan J he’s trolling
P Q M He isn’t...
Came here to say this.
Come on, Doug!! You're smarter than that!!
thank you for being the only smart person to comment this because i noticed that too and it bugged me when he mentioned it
Hey moron...it's called a "stalk" not "stock." Get it together man.
LOL, it's called a coin tray! Way back in 1990 we used to pay tolls with actual coinage. It went sorta like this; you would pull up to a toll gate, reach into the change tray, remove the required coins and toss them into a (what looked like) a giant urinal, the coins would clink and clatter to the bottom then the gate would raise to let you pass. A very handy tray to have, especially in cities like Chicago.
Keep up the old car stuff, I love it. Thanks!
My first car ever was a DSM, a 91 Galant VR-4. Built 20 minutes from my house and where i currently work now! I love it.
Beautiful car! I’ve loved this gen since I was a kid.
Alternative title: Doug encounters his first equalizer.
Wow - the car is in amazing condition !!
Soul Food Cooking Ive only seen one or two ever and they were both huge piles
ikr
it belongs in a museum
Yes indeed, it is a beautiful survivor of the time. It was Mistubishi's Celica and Surpa competitor...
My man, Dougie. You reviewed my very first sports car I ever owned. It was a first gen. Forest Green 1991 AWD GXS Eclipse. Truly was the Last precision Mitusbishi. Oh, how I did loved it from the duel pop-up headlights to the motored 3-point seatbelts. Much obliged, D.D.
I commented earlier but feel I should also add, I had one of these when I lived in Wisconsin and I have to say it was the best winter car I ever had. Nothing about it says it should be a good winter car, but that was my experience. People be sliding all over in their SUVs and I'm blowing by. Ended up trading it in for a Toyota Celica, which would spin out at first gear with a slight rain. Loved both cars, still miss this one.
I drive a Dodge Dart now so these memories come up frequently.
Could not be a cleaner example. Someone has really babied that disposable car, and I really like that!
gtoger I had a 92 gs turbo eclipse that was totally perfect like 6 years ago. Was lowered with rims and bigger sway bars and that car would go around any corner at any speed I swear. Dark green with a black top. Had the sunroof bag and everything. I sold it for really good money and the kid riced it out then crashed it.
blindabinda123 the car didn't accept him lol
blindabinda123 that’s so sad :(
Without people like that we wouldn’t have a channel like dougs. So even tho people who baby cars for no reason annoy me we still gotta thank em🤣
Truth. I had to make mine look beautiful.
This car is very special to me. In 1989, I saw a black one on display at the Columbus, Ohio airport and immediately fell in love. I was 11 years old at the time. Fast forward to 1998, and I was able to buy my first new car (with my dad's help) and I bought a brand new GST. I have kept that car. It sits in my garage most of the time, but I take it out about once a month for a drive to relive my youth.
Adam Shepherd awesome!
That's awesome, cherish it
You are just 40 years old man
This is amazing…i had (5)Eagle Talon Tsi AWD. Years 92-94. Had an amazing time with them
My first car was a 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse. This video brings back so many memories.
Little levers that let you play dj in your own car! Listen! They really make a difference!!! Wowwwwww!
It's almost as if there was a graphic representation of how you're equalizing the tone of the music, to think this is the only sound system in the world to have this... I do wonder what all those little numbers mean... all the way to 10K? What a head scratcher...
@Oggy You really "unsubbed" because Doug didn't know what an EQ was? Lol. I thought it was freaking hilarious!
@Oggy Oh, i see. I think he is hilarious, in a doofy kinda way. Lol. And he does give detailed info on many different cars. You gotta at least give him that.
I thought He was joking about not knowing what the Equalizer was!
I had an 89 Dodge shadow es 2.2 turbo. Really considered the eagle talon in this version. These type of cars were the underdogs of the mustangs and camaros of the time. Would easily run with them or beat them. It would be awesome if someone could get Doug a Shelby version on the Dodges of this time. Thanks for the great video.
I currently have the sister car to this. A 1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo. I can't wait to get it out to drive for the summer. These were such fun cars to drive around.
I think Doug sold all of his shorts for new pants 😂
STICK SHIFTER but he's rich
JustAnother Stupidchannel78 iTz A jOkE
It's not Doug if he doesn't use shorts
DSM squad for life!
Talon owner, but I’m old.
Miss mine. Theres a small bunch for sale on dsmtuners.com Most of the greats seem to be sold though.
anonymous nah those are only going to keep going up in price.

*Pop up up and down headlights !*
-James Pumphrey
Hector Sanchez
YES
Pop up pop'n down headlights huh
Doug: Check out these seat belts
Millennials: What is this witchcraft
Millennials are even more baffled by the extra pedal.
what?
Madeline Monahan maybe but they were too young to remember
You know there are millenniasl allover world right? Not only in the US, and most people in Europe drive manual
Man Doug, for knowing so much about cars, there are a lot of common features that you apparently don't know about...
-The "second high beams" in the light bar are not a separate light. It is just the regular high beams turning on while your flip up lights are still down.
-The sun roof was actually a moon roof since it was see-through glass. You also didn't have to remove it to get the outside air. The handle where you released it can flip forward and latch up, holding it open at an angle.
-Stereo sliders are an EQ. Each number is a different frequency that you are adjusting independently. Most stock stereos now adjust the bass, mid, and high on a bell curve and don't allow for independent frequency adjustment.
-I've seen various newer cars that still have cruise control on stalks. It is not uncommon.
-The pocket to "hide stuff from cops" is the exact opposite of that. It is where you store your vehicle registration and insurance paperwork.
-The dome light actually DOES make sense and functions EXACTLY like every other one in existence. You have 3 positions: On, Door, and Off. On would latch it to be used at any point and would keep it on pretty much until the battery of the car dies. The one with the dot is the Door option. Having it down allows the dome light to come on only when the doors are open. When they close, the lights go off.
-The cartoonish drawings in the owners manual are quite common in many Japanese manuals of the 80's and 90's; this would include vehicles and electronics.
Erik Hendershot. That's just it, he DOESN'T know much about cars! He just reguritates facts and figures he 'researched' online in his vids. He's a moron!
perfect comment. my 2016 Audi has cruise control on a stalk!
I know this is old but I had to comment on this. I stopped watching at the EQ part. The headlight comment and the note about a convertible solving the “sunroof” issues had already irritated me. I owned a 97 and it had a POWER MOONROOF! The glass slide above the roof... not a convertible.
I understand it has to be very tough to put a video together on the fly, make it interesting and get everything 100% right but my God man... this entire video is flawed. It’s a shame because I really liked this generation of Eclipse in its time and was looking forward to a knowledgeable review.
LOL thank you for explaining all of this so I didn't have to. Sometimes I cringe when Doug doesn't know what some of those Simple Things Are but overall I think he does a pretty good job and he's Young so I give him a pass LOL
@@russess5956 My '80s GM cars had that! I guess they had to put it somewhere, so why not. No controls on steering wheels back then.
