    Would you say it's better to get the speedbooster and canon ef mount combo rather than get the lenses in the mft mount for that extra light and crop factor? I checked adorama and it seems the lenses for both mounts are the same weight so that doesn't seem to be an issue it's just a matter of adding another piece of glass between the body and lens

      great question, I have debate this with my buddy @quackalope all the time as he owns the Rokinon 35mm MFT for his GH5 and the footage is beautiful, I personally prefer the option of the canon glass with the speedbooster as I had owned several EF-mount lenses before I went MFT cameras. Overall I think that either way the Rokinons make the gh5 look great and on what I would consider a budget. The real question is if you already own Full-frame or Ef-mount glass I would just by a speedbooster I see what you get out of the glass you already own. If you only own MFT glass, I would just go ahead and by the MFT versions. I hope that helps you out but regardless of what you decide that footage from the glass + camera combination is nice :)

    I'm currently using the GH6 paired with the metabones speedbooster and the Sigma ART f1.8/18-35mm -- with the speedbooster the GH6 tells me it stops down to f1.1 and the bokeh looks awesome. I was looking for something to punch the aperture down even more. Do you know what the Rokinon drops down to with the speedbooster? I would imagine the f1.5 would turn to sub f1? Thanks!

    • @LowellProductions
      @LowellProductions  Před rokem +1

      Love to hear that you are shooting with the Gh6, while I have never used that camera I can imagine that it is nice to have. To answer your question in regards to the Rokinon I guess you could say it would knock down to sub f1.3 or lower but I am just guessing. I most of the time tend to shot f2.8 and above for most of what I film so unfortunately I dont have a full answer for you. That being said great question. Cheers sir

      @@LowellProductions I'm going to start creating a new "series" of videos on my channel soon documenting a life journey my family and I are embarking on. I'll be using the GH6 for it.
      Otherwise, one of the reasons I'm fond of the low aperture is for low light situations, since the GH6 isn't too great in low light or with high ISO settings... so the extra light with low aperture really helps that micro four thirds sensor!

    Hey I have this mounted on my GX85... and I'm super worried about the weight of the lens. Do you think it'll damage the mount over time? It is a lot of glass hanging quite far out.

    • @LowellProductions
      @LowellProductions  Před 4 lety

      I haven’t found any issue with my gh4 and gh5 with this combination of booster and glass. I would say you will be just fine, occasionally if I’m using this setup for recording for long interviews typically I just mount my tripod quick release to the speedbooster mount rather that the camera. That way the weight is more evenly balanced or at least as much as you can do. Hopefully that makes sense but you should be fine

    • @thatsreallyamoon
      @thatsreallyamoon Před 4 lety

      @@LowellProductions oh hm, I meant without speed booster, directly on the camera (MFT mount). I have the GX85 and love the lens and camera, it's just so hard to guess whether I need to spend money and time on proper lens support (this is act a big commitment; small camera big lenses aren't very accomodated many gimbals), or if I can just mount the lens to the camera, and mount camera to gimbal and forget about it.

    Thank you for making this video. It would be easier for me to see how the lens / body combo looks with longer shots (edits) and no frame rate fast/slow post production variations. For a car commercial or fashion, fast edits, wild camera movement, speed ups, slow motion etc. all great. For lens analysis, speaking only for myself and not for other filmmakers, I prefer longer shots without the bells and whistles but perhaps you are advertising your look and style to market to clients. Thank you for the video. This comment is intended to be beneficial and supportive of you and your channel. 👍
