- In today's episode, we hike the 'Path of the Glacier trail' around the very popular Mt Edith Cavell area in Jasper National Park which leads us to the stunning hanging 'Angel Glacier' above the turquoise-coloured 'Cavell Pond' whilst being surrounded by incredible Alpine scenery and admiring the imposing Mt Edith Cavell and valley, on this short and easy hike.

Beautiful filming as always. Love how Mt Cavell got its name, that's a lovely tribute to the lives saved but so sad what happened to her, this definitely keeps her memory alive. That's a huge mountain like you said and so so beautiful here with the gorgeous trees. That trail you walked was so lovely and peaceful too. I would love to walk there ! ~ Anna 👍

It sure gets better 🤣🤪What a wonderful place 🤩 The trail is very nice paved for s good distance and brand new . Edith Cavell did tremendous things so sad that she was executed 😢Didn’t know about the ice that fell and mad a tsunami and damage the environment. So looks like you will never try a good ice bath in that lake …Lol! Must be terrible the feeling of going in that cold water 🥶 We had dream twice to go there …once in 2016 and in 2018 but unfortunately it wasn’t possible because it was closed 😢 I am glad to have seen it trough your lens Laurie .

Thanks Serge❤️. Like you I have been trying to do this trail for a few years and it was always closed for me too until now. They have done a good job repairing the damage of the inland tsunami caused by the glacier's huge chunk of ice that fell 1km down in the pond (lucky it happened very early in the morning😶🌫️ or there would have been fatalities for sure). And correct, I am never going swimming in there🥶 it would be like knives stabbing you going in that ice water...no thank you). We will try to do the Cavell Meadow next year if we can. I hope you and Helene are well and having a great Thanksgiving long weekend with family. Hugs & kisses from Karen & me❤️🥰😘.

Your 10-year anniversary trip to the Rockies sounds fantastic, and we are pretty sure you will love this fantastic region. To answer a couple of your questions, the distance between the town of Banff and Jasper is about a 3 hours drive (288 km) but that's without any stops. As you will drive on the Icefields Parkway. one of the most stunning drives on the planet (aka Hwy 93) there are a multitude of pull-outs and viewpoints as well as lots of hiking trails and walking tracks, so we would advise to make it a full day drive as it is worth it and a must if you wish to see the essential tourist attractions along the way. Depending where you decide to stay (accommodation wise), it is worth planning your journey ahead to pick your planned stopovers and must-do as both Banff & Jasper National Parks are huge, and that's without adding Kootenay & Yoho National Parks that share borders with Banff and Jasper as well. We hope this helps your planning stage🙂.

This was absolutely spectacular! How far is Jasper National Park compared to Banff? We have just returned from this years holiday in Italy so will be starting to plan next years for our 10 year anniversary and we have decided Canada it is! Your videos are getting us super excited! Thanks, Nick & Jill for the wonderful comments🙂. To give you an idea, this section of the Canadian Rockies has 4 main national parks. These are Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, and Yoho National Parks. The total area of the 4 parks is over 20000km2 so planning your outings will be essential as there are vast distances to cover no matter where you choose to stay. From the town of Banff to the town of Jasper, it is a 288km drive and will take 3.5 hours to complete (that's without stopping which will be highly unlikely, especially on the Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic drives in the world with lookouts and pullouts everywhere and hiking trails galore 😉). I can email you a couple of ideas to maximize your time and also must-do hikes and outings as it would take too long here. Let me know if you want me to do this and how long you intend to stay.
