That builder has the right idea with her modern build/classic style XC bike. That’s the future in my opinion. Once every realizes how much the modern slacked out mtb suck to ride compared to the old ones. Quick and agile and good climbers.

Why did all the bikes have either Purple or that Flat Gold / Brass color headsets? Did I miss something? I liked the Brass color.
CK released 2 special colors of hubs and headsets.
So many lovely bikes and so many really nice knowledgable people who all seemed to think like me..... because I hate press fit anything with a passion and flat mount is spawn of the devil, but I do love big tyres.
When will SRAM and shimano catch up with the wider range gearing for on and offroad?

That's an Enve logo. Enve bars/ stem/ fork/ rims.
Sounds like clearance to 50mm is becoming more the norm these days. Wondering if we'll ever get someone doing a drop bar 4"+ wide fatties for those winter adventures.. just a matter of time I suppose!

interesting that every bike is equipped with a cambium, with anodized rivets that either match the violet or gold hubs on the builds.
Its not a coincidence. CK anodized rivets for a short run of saddles to match the hubs.

I have Chris King hubs and head tube components on my MTB Santa Cruz Blur x4 recently upgraded to SRAM X01 Eagle drivetrain. Noob to Gravel went once I'm hooked, looking to get a Kona Sultra Ltd or a Surly Cutthroat any suggestions would be appreciated LOVE YOUR CHANNEL I'm leaning Kona seems like a good start and Bang for the buck!
Bromos, Sunstar Ranger you should look at or some how ride a Litespeed GRAVEL and the first bike in the video. You then would be hankering for those instead!

at 0:18 there's an all weather cambium with purple rivets. Gotta track one of those down for sure. Edit: I guess that saddle pops up again on a few different builds. Sick bikes and what a great day at the factory... been using CK headsets for 20 years and still have at least 5 on several bikes and in the box.... including the original in perfect shape aside from a little faded anodizing, that Black color just didnt hold up well to 20 yrs of riding ;-)
BUT...
I must be the ONLY guy who fukin HATES the Purple Ano craze then and now........ wasn't a fan back in the 90's & not fukin stoked that so many goofs are pushing it again,.... i guess for some retro nostalgia reason...?

Truth be said, once you ride Chris king 👑, you never think of other products.
I have CK hubs. They're very pretty and work great, but if buying more hubs tomorrow I'd buy Hope. Also look good, work extremely well, significantly cheaper. And I prefer the sound.

Maybe rigid mountain bikes are just gravel bikes with flat bars...

Maybe 29er mtbs are just road bikes with flat bars and big tires.
It may or may not be rigid mountain bike. The point is its more than just drop bars. There are differences in brakes, bb shell and clearance issues for road cranks as well as road geo. It doesn’t have the super slack HTA angles and high trail of modern mountain bikes. The TT length is probably optimized to have a certain amount of stem length and weight on the front that a mountain bike isn’t designed for. Inevitably someone will chime in, “it’s just 90s mtb geometry”. Sure, so if I want a bike like that I’m suppose to travel into the past dust off a 90s mtb with aging components and hack together a drop bar bike. Why not just accept that it is what it is. I’m not mired in either road or mtb camps and honestly don’t care its an iteration of an old design because I don’t have access to a time machine to ride the bike its supposedly based off of.

Look at the High Latitude geometry (or check out the genesis fortitude). I think the reason I take issue with this is that I reject false marketing in cycling. The rebranding of cyclocross bikes seems weird, and now 'chunky tyre' gravel bikes which just doesn't seem any different to rigid 29ers of a while back (longer stem length and geometry included). I feel all this rebranding of old stuff and marketing of the 'next big thing' is to sell unnecessary stuff to people
Why would anyone want steel? When you can have a do it all forever Titanium, do it all day forever or race bike?

cool bikes but the line between old school mountain bikes, aka hybrid bikes today, and gravel bikes is pretty much nonexistent to the naked eye.

Sincerely, that purple color has to be the ugliest and unmatchable one. I still haven't seen any bike where the combination with the paintjob really works. Instead of it, that whiskey brown should be part of the permanent colors... get rid of purple and pink, no one with average sense of aesthetics will miss them

I think that's looking at it from a very surface level perspective. The geometry, mounts, prominence of steel, and rigid forks also differentiate these bikes from hardtail MTBs.
