When a meteor full of space gunk transforms Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) into a giant, the government renames her Ginormica and confines her to a secret compound with other monsters, like bug-headed Dr. Cockroach (Hugh Laurie). When an extraterrestrial robot lands on Earth and begins a rampage, Gen. W.R. Monger persuades the president to send Ginormica and her fellow monsters to battle the machine and save the planet. This I can agree on. Personality wise, I didn’t find Ginormica to be obnoxious and childish. And despite being pretty big and strong, she still needed help at times. And her character is far from weak and useless, but it showed she isn’t a one woman show that can do it all(aka boring). Not just character wise, but I actually prefer the Monsters vs Aliens movie over most of the products and characters the MCU has been cranking out after Endgame. Though Endgame itself has criticisms too. Maybe I have been ranting on, but you get my point.

This was the first movie that I remember actually hating as a small kid. It frustrated me how they treated that giant lady like she wasn't human.

The Shrek-type ending with her arc also felt kinda forced, or just predictable.

@@TheCarefinder Yeah, I'll admit it was probably better that way, all ten kids away from my grandpa in the casket, but it was just sort of a strange day for me, because me and my cousin are the oldest on my mom's side, so we were the only ones who really understood what was happening, cause I was probably like 8 or 9 at the time, and my sisters and cousins were like 5 and 6 so they were just playing with toys and laughing at the movie while I was just sitting there thinking about my grandpa. It was just a very surreal day, and most of what I remember about it was this movie, and me being to sad to really laugh at it. But I don't necessarily think it's a bad movie, it's just connected to a sad memory for me.

@@luthientinuviel3883 Yes. I know this exact feeling. Watching 321 Penguins at church when Parents did stuff. They ran the Rangers scouts group at the time. Now they have a scouts group of their own with 9 kids. I have 8 younger homeschooled siblings. Its the best. Anyways I really understand this. Also one time in Sunday school we watched a really weird christian show. I don't think it was bible man. It involved this creature thing that melted teleported then un-melted is a super creepy way and was always getting closer to the people in the story. It was like a weird dream. I kinda want to find what it was i was watching. But i also kinda don't lol.

@freerobux49 BOB isn’t the smartest. Dr.Cockroach is insanely durable but isn’t physically the strongest. I understand Susan being giant sized with the Quantonium, she was physically stronger/more of a tank than Link. But the scene I was talking about, she was normal sized. And that was Link’s moment of shine. And was able to hold off more clones when trying to close that lip. What that hovering scooter Link grabbed that helped Susan get out of the ship? I understand Link not being your favorite. But I wouldn’t say he was useless either.

This is a great underrated DreamWorks film, to bad it never got a sequel. I mean it gotten a television spin-off on Nickelodeon but still I would have prefer a sequel.

“Don’t cry, it makes my knees hurt” is probably cause rain makes arthritis bad.
There are so many things about this movie I wish more people mentioned. Like:
-Susan literally ran into the meteor's landing area. If she stayed in the gazebo, she wouldn't have been hit. That thing was like... five times her height in length? It was REALLY small for a meteorite, and she managed to run right into the one place where it landed. And then when her mom finds her... the meteor is gone without explanation and just never gets brought up again.
-The giant robot is shown on-screen to be incredibly slow, but whenever the movie cuts, the robot is always either right behind Susan or has somehow snuck up on her in some way, and it's like... how is this slow-ass, loud-ass robot doing this so easily whenever it isn't on-screen? It's one of my least favorite tropes.
-Susan wasn't able to destroy the robot on her own. She had to trip the robot and cause it to destroy the Golden Gate Bridge and drop it onto the robot to destroy it. But when Galaxar suggests sending another robot to attack her, his ship's AI is like "That won't work, Susan has become too powerful." Bitch, she won because of the environment they were fighting in. The bridge's steel wires tangled up the robot's limbs, and that enabled her to trip it up and destroy it USING the bridge. If the fight happened on a flat plane, like in a desert, she wouldn't have been able to do ANYTHING to it. It's so dumb.

I am very, VERY nostalgic for this movie. I can’t bring myself to hate it, just because I’ve always found it so charming. I respect if people don’t like it, but I personally will never dislike this film.
