what bothers me about so many lunar new year collections is that they won't commit to lunar new year colors but they also won't commit to tiger ones either so it's mostly cool packaging with a meh color story
That Morphe palette does not scream sweet tea and I hate it for ignoring the "theme". I am so so mad at the color story. I want warm browns, ruddy reds and cool oranges, maybe a lemony yellow or golden yellow. The army green is fine but you could even do one or two brighter greens or a teal that leans green. A tea collection could be amazing with more theme. Also sweet tea is more summer than Spring to me.

Your thoughts about Charlotte Tilbury are interesting. I think it’s actually a good idea to do favorites in new packaging since it’s more sustainable. From my understanding, Charlotte Tilbury packaging is refillable. Doing a fun limited packaging guarantees a consumer gets something they know they love and in limited packaging. Making new products may not all be sold and typically aren’t reusable. I actually hope brands move to creating limited edition refillable packaging to create more sustainable products as opposed to what we see now.

Precisely! I understand Hannah’s POV but I would love to have one of my most favorite workhorse products in fancy packaging, particularly if it’s refillable.
The setting powder is also a really big product in Asia, one of the best sellers, so I bet that's why they chose this specific product & I bet people are happy to have new packaging for it. They also have released brand new shades of lipstick also in special luna new year packaging. So I do think this was a bit of a harsh review
Aha….the Pat McGrath Bridgerton eyeshadow palette actually DOES contain one of her special (astral) shadows and it’s the blue one. It’s the first time she’s added one of those to her six pan palettes (per Alicia “kinky sweat”) so I had to order. It is stunning.
Can confirm it has an Astral shade plus it's made in Italy ✨✨✨
I’m subbed to Alicia too. Lol i am a sucker for the astral or special shades, only mothership I don’t have is IV I think (the one that doesn’t have special shades). I don’t like thinking about how much $$ I have in her eyeshadows but it’s been the one makeup thing I really splurge on.

@@clairecramer4425 no, all of the previous 6 pan palettes are made in the USA with imported ingredients and had no blitz or astral shades in them.
This Doja Cat collection is a part 2. Part 1 did have an eyeshadow palette, but it got mediocre reviews, and it's huge!

I actually like when brands repackage their classic products for limited editions. I often don't care for new hype stuff but only buy this one or those two products from a brand and getting them in a new fun packaging now and then is nice. :-) but I also get your perspective.
I think it's like, a fun bonus especially when you're not someone who just buys tons of makeup or have "backups" for products. Like, i enjoy going to a store and seeing "omg they have cute packaging for this holiday" and it does make me more likely to buy it 😂
Everyone I’ve seen try the Danessa “multichrome” eyeliners, well... look very underwhelmed unfortunately. The sugar drizzle ones ( that are also half the price at 11$) look a million times better. And sound like they last and perform way better as well ❤️
I have the sugar drizzle eyeliners(the whole collection), and they are in fact gorgeous. They last all day. I get up at 4:30am and have my eyeliner done by 5:45am. When I get home anywhere from 5-6:00pm, they are still on my waterline. They are worth the buy!
Theresa is dead said they don't last in her waterline and the shift is minimal. She recommended the sugar drizzle ones tho!

Sugar Drizzle Polish has multichrome eyeliners. They had just restocked a few days ago and have sold out again, but they do have a preorder that says it will ship in 3-4 weeks. But they are $10 a piece and if I remember correctly I think Theresa is Dead said she preferred the Sugar Drizzle Polish liners more when she reviewed the Danessa Myricks in a recent video.

One product I’m actually excited for is the tarte fall in bloom palette I have the original one and I love the formula I use it all the time but I hate that it has all the black and darker colors and the new one has more of the light neutrals im into.

Maybe I'm alone - but I don't hate the 'repackage for a holiday' thing, esp for Valentine's Day or Lunar New Year, which are super-gift giving holidays depending on where you live. This is something that someone would buy for you, because they know you use it.
Even though I don't really buy makeup I always have a very nostalgic feel for Wet n Wild. Their polishes were dirt cheap when I was growing up (80s, early 90s) and my grandma would but me a bunch and I'd mix them and make my own colors and stuff. It makes me a little sad that their polishes are almost nonexistent anymore
I had several nail polishes from them-they were actually good quality (for the price). I had a dark purple one I used to wear a lot in middle school (20 years ago)-it was my favorite.
Recently, the Always Nude or Natural or something like that and there’s another one more pink tones neutral…are both solid good palettes!!

That Morphie pallette you could quite literally take out every color on the outside. The middle 18 shades would be interesting to have but the outside shades are point less. Btw that sweater is everything Hannah! So cute!
Idk if you realized it, but the Huda eyeshadow palette is also a repromote. It's the Tiger palette that she released earlier in '21 with new packaging.
Mba cosmetics & sugar drizzle both have had multichrome eyeliners before. Although I will say it looks like Danesa has more colors and shifts to choose from.
Also, there is already a Doja Cat eyeshadow palette. The release you showed is part 2. The palette was in part 1.
SugarDrizzlePolish has had multichrome liners for awhile - and I'm OBSESSED.

I disagree with you on BH not being popular now. I think they've had a huge resurgence in the last year or or two with their travel series and this year with the birthstone palettes. They've become one of my favorite affordable brands! If you haven't tried anything recently I'd recommend giving them a try again :)
The Ice Cream Shoppe ones, too, and the Blueberry Muffin palette is stunning.

Hannah, your eye makeup is on FLEEK today, I'm loving it. I've never been a "basic" neutral type girl, suddenly over the past six months (at 41 years old, lmao) I've FINALLY gotten into them a bit and wore neutrals for the first time in my ENTIRE life, (yeah, I know) and I really like it. I've even gotten a lot of compliments on the smokiness and blend of the application and sultry way it makes my green eyes look which made me want to play with neutral tones even more. I'm iij gonna try this look you're wearing in this video and see if I can replicate it and see how it looks on me. Thanks for the inspo love!! ❤️ Have a great weekend ahead.

The Huda Beauty palette is repackaged. It’s the same as the Tiger-palette that released in 2021. Charlotte Tilbury also released three lipsticks in the Lunar new year-packaging, but those are all new shades. :)

I agree with you about eyeliners, I feel like eyeliners and mascaras should by default come in smaller sizes just because they have such short shelf lives. Mascaras should be replaced, what, every 3 to 6 months? And eyeliners, it can depend on the type of eyeliner that it is, but anything that close to my eye, I want it to be as fresh as possible.
Sometimes I like the repackaged stuff, because it's just a shake up of the product I already buy. If I really like it, I find a way to refill it. But I do agree that there should be more original releases.
Having a really rough mental day and seeing this really lifted my spirits, so thank you ♥️

The mini palette formula from Huda these days seems really good. I have the Khaki and one of the recent animal palettes and they are really good.

Also a thought on the doja cat launch - I feel like it didn’t have an eyeshadow palette because it may have been marketed more to Gen Z, who don’t seem to be big eye shadow consumers. Face milks and single pots of colour make more sense with that target audience. Think a vibe in line with the simplicity of glossier combined with the new graphic but straightforward monochromatic looks on Tik Tok.
This is the second launch. There was an eyeshadow palette, quads, and blush palettes launched in 2021

Charlotte got me with the tiger packaging. My powder hit pan and since Tiger is my year, I bought it. I would've bought the powder anyway, eventually, but the packaging got me.
I think that’s the perfect setup for getting the powder. I know I ran out of my favorite setting powder and just got a giant version in special packaging.
