  • This week (with a bit of a cold so excuse me!) I review the Zadie dress by Tilly and the Buttons and talk about Prym seam tape interfacing. I also talk about the Nina Lee Southbank sweater dress in teal Ponte Roma and how to style it with scarves.
Leopard print scarf from H&M last year.
Black and grey animal print scarf from Primark.

The Sadie dress looks really good on you . I love the colour combo . The length is perfect for you . If I want to make a hem as narrow as possible I sew some bias tape on then you get a decent hem without turning too much under .

Nice makes, maybe make a hem band... for the dress

Lovely makes! Both gorgeous..... the Zadie dress suits you so much, they both look great, but the Zadie is so flattering to your lovely shape. 😘😊

What fun. I just bought the same pattern while I was in Birmingham at Guthrie & Ghani. I saw a version that Nikki from the Stitch Sister’s made (all black with a white/black striped front yoke) and loved it. The length suits you. My fabric/pattern haul from England is in 3 boxes at the moment winging its way to me in Oregon. Oh, the anticipation! Love your teal turtleneck too. Well done!

I saw that version too and loved it. Be interesting to hear what you think when you make it. Thanks for watching!

I think both dresses look absolutely fantastic on you, Carrie....Thanks for pointing out about the pivot points, I’m looking at getting & sewing the pattern next year....

You could add a black bias tape folded under and then it will be the same length as what you were wearing. Looks really nice. It doesn’t say in the instructions do you cut with right sides together or top side and then lay your pattern pieces on.

I can’t remember, it’s been a while since I made the Zadie, I have worn it quite a lot during the winter with tights. Always gets complimented 😊

Next year both these patterns will be on my list to sew. Both look great. Thanks for the tips about the pivot points! I'd definitely size down for your next Southbank xx

Fab video Love the Southbank dress, I'm toying with trying it but think I'm a bit to short and curvy LOL. I've never been too keen on Zadie if I'm honest but purely because it wouldn't work on my shape LOL

      @threadtherapy251  Před 5 lety +1

I think short and curvy sounds perfect. Shorten the body of the dress making sure it comes just above the knee when the band is applied, big chunky scarf and you are good to go. Properly comfy too ;-)

I don’t think you have to worry about hemming the dress; as you said...tights and you’re good! And yes to sizing down on the teal dress, but it still looks awesome! ❤️

Love the Southbank sweater the colour looks great on you. I’ve just made it and it was huge! So I graded it down around the waist and under the arms.... I’m glad it wasn’t just me who found it big x

I can see what you mean. I love your Zadie shorter! Thanks for the review aND I totally agree that you can do with a smaller Southbank but they both look lovely.

Your Zadie is very nice but I haven’t seen that many I like so have always felt I wouldn’t make it. 💕The Southbank seems to come up very different in each fabric Ive made it in so if you size down be aware that some seem tighter than others. I’ve made quite a few and some as presents and use size 10. I don’t put the pockets in mine. I like the relaxed style which is just right for me. Also it can be hacked as did so with a cropped sweatshirt to go with a skirt and lowered the neckline and I made one as a tunic length in lighter weight fabric. 😁

It’s definitely a marmite dress the Zadie! Thanks for watching! X

I didn’t think Id like the southbank from the line drawing but it looks good on you & cozy especially with the second scarf. You could always add a contrast of the other grey fabric to the Tilly dress for the hem if you were concerned with the length although I think that might be more work than it would be worth. It looks great.

love both makes...that blue is so nice...i think the zadie looks great and the length i think totally works...im not much into that style cuz i would look pregnant but i think the shorter version gives it a different look...tfs:)

I loved the Zadie dress on you, to bad you don't like it. Hard lessons learned, sewing and drinking don't mix.
