  • Welcome to the first ever episode of Abyss Theory! This is a brand new series I've been contemplating for a while as I've never had the confidence to create theories of my own and share them outside. So I'll use this as a tool for getting my personal opinions across and also a way to interact with viewers who are interested in MiA related content.
    Alex's discussion piece: pastebin.com/W1Az6yse
    In this episode, I will be looking into ideas posed by a recent subscriber regarding Srajo and Wakuna's identity as well as trying to debunk a theory regarding Faputa's upbringing.
    If you have any ideas for topics to talk about please let me know in the comments! Or if you want me to showcase one of your theories, please let me know over my email! I'll be sure to read them all!

    Hello everyone! So I’ve noticed this video is garnering some traction and after rewatching this video and looking at some comments…I NEED to address some misinformation and misconceptions, I’ve noticed.
    Firstly, the information regarding the role of Plague Doctors is COMPLETELY UNTRUE. This video makes it sound like all plague doctors spread pestilence with the soul intention of garnering a profit…which ISNT true. In fact, I’m unsure as to why I made it sound like truth 4 years ago…They were viewed as a bad omen amongst the plague BUT THAT DOESNT MAKE THEM BAD PEOPLE.
    THEY WORKED to save people who couldn’t afford more traditional doctors. Please pay no attention to that segment, my past self was a dumbass.
    Also! When looking over comments, a lot of people have been assuming that I’m the one who posed the “Faputa is the reincarnation of Riko’s soul theory” which isn’t true. This video was designed to DEBUNK that theory at the time, not encourage it…however!
    I’ve seen a bit of hate towards that theory and I don’t think that’s acceptable considering when the internet first posed this theory, it was WAY before Made In Abyss had even introduced Faputa as a fully fledged character. Time is an important factor to consider. Please don’t call out this theory in a harsh manner, as those who posed it could be reading these comments.
    That’s all from me. Thanks for reading and also supporting the content ❤️
    - Michael

    Personnaly, I think the white whistles are simply the lorekeepers of the Abyss and will appear near the end of the journey. Think about it, the lord of mystery will reveal the pit's darkests secrets while the lord of guidance will, as his title implies, guide the group through the seven (or more) layer. I'm betting they will both appear at the same time, or separated by a short amount of time, but will most likely not be on the same team, as while they both resided in the fifth layer, they traversed it through different ways, but they did so in a short amount of time between the two dives and while disrespecting the lord of dawn in the process because he is the one revealing this info in the manga (note that the movie skipped that scene). In conclusion, they are rival lorekeepers who will keep fleeing until the very end of the journey

  • @sovereignrepublicofcopticx6397

    I can prove the "Faputa is the reincarnation of Riko" theory wrong. a. Faputa knew Regs name before Riko ever gave him his name. it has to be either a coincident, or some other force is at play here, but Reg had his name before he met Riko, forgot it, then Riko just so happened to name him Reg again. I think this section of the manga was just a way to show that Faputa knew Reg in the past, and its a *pure coincidence* that Riko named him Reg. b. Riko is 13, Faputa is 110, how could Faputa be the reincarnation of someone who wouldn't even be born for 97 years?

    Theory - Reg is actually Lyza's second child, who is actually the twin of Riko who was left in the abyss by Lyza. Lyza decided to go on her final dive to rescue Reg and get him to the surface. When she reaches where Reg is, it turns out he was adopted by the Robot Units from bellow the sixth layer, where they imbued him with their tech allowing him to ascend. This was awesome I can't wait for next week! I never really thought about wakuna before but now I'm excited. I think an interesting video idea would be talking about Riko seeing a lack of humanity in Reg and how that makes her personality that of a white whistle. If you kinda wanna see what I'm talking about there is a video called Made in abyss, Eromanga sensei the biggest problem in anime... Or something like that. It contrasts and analyzes and address the controversy over the sexualization of characters in MiA to Eromanga sensei, but the guy brings up some really interesting ideas on the relationship that Reg and Riko has.
    Another cool thing I'd kinda want to think about is how Faputa would react to Riko if they were to meet in person. I had a few ideas I think could be interesting but I'm only gonna talk about this one bc I'm typing this on my phone haha. Essentially in Reg and Faputas encounter she uses the phrase "Faputa's reg." Almost as if it is an ownership thing. What if faputa comes to believe that Riko "stole" reg from her. Would she be balanced and turned into value? Idk but I thought that would be a cool like "o shiz" moment. But if the other idea that the balancing will no longer work because veko isn't in the prison anymore then Riko wouldn't be balanced which could cause anarchy in the village.
    Personally I think this village arc is just the first part of layer 6.

      The ownership thing is quite interesting. Especially when Reg told faputa he wants to return to his friends and she responded with “you want to be with them more than me?” With a rather Grimm expression. I’m excited to see where they go. Honestly I’d love to do a video on the topic of Riko and Reg, I’ll be sure to check out the video you suggested soon!

      Cooper Dooper I think you're reading too much into it. The "Faputa's Reg" part wasn't meant to have any kind of substance, but was rather supposed to be a wtf-moment that would leave the reader speculate about whether or not Faputa and Reg were in a relationship. Most readers outside Japan misunderstood this kind of speech. It doesn't have anything to do with ownership. It's just a vague implication of a romantic patnership between Reg and Faputa, without being too explicit about it, and leaving the interpretation up to the reader.

    Does nobody realize that Faputa knew Reg's name before he met Riko who gave him the name as well as what seems to be that Reg knew Riko before he met her, there is a part in the manga where Reg is talking to Faputa and he says his goal is to find his "haku" who is Riko.
    There is a theory that the white "Ring" at the bottom is a wormhole, I have a feeling that there is some timey wimey space stuff going on. Which would relate to the 2000 year cycle.

  • @cebolafn
    @cebolafn Před 2 lety +2

    I think Wakuna is a Sailor with a boat that can fly, go on land and on water and he uses it to guide people trough the abyss. He most likely has had a companion of his that liked sailing and because of that Wakuna started using water related relics, clothes and etc. I say all of this because when the narehate of the narehate village was changing riko's whisle appearance and more he said by Mugi's( I think it was her name) translation that he changed it suiting Prushka and her wishes(making it easier for prushka to "speak" and also increasing the whisles relic afinity), Riko also said that Prushka liked it. Probably the same thing with Doni("your worth" for Lyza's whisle) since the whisle has flowers, maybe just as Lyza likes flowers Doni like them too.
    Same with Srajo, Wakuna and maybe with Ozen and Bondrewd. Even though I don't understand why Riko's whisle took that form🤔. Is the the whisle taking his user's desires or its "your worth" wishes or is it the person that changes it that chooses its form?
    Remember this coment if it comes out that this is true😁

    i know the last manga wasn’t out at this point, but here’s a theory i have about it anyway:
    i think that faputa is reg’s mother.
    we know that the first cladle of greed (is that the name? not shure, i read the manga in french) was used to transforme the girl into ilbru (no idea what the english name is, but you know what i mean), the second was used to give birth to faputa, and faputa held a third and last egg.
    i think that this last cladle of greed was used to give birth to reg.
    here’s my reasoning: this egg will realize the dream of faputa, a creature who, i believe, was still very young at this point and didn’t know a lot about life. faputa knows that here mother used to be human, and despite having never truly met her, she loves her a lot. faputa is also attached to an intervention module (hope this name is the same in english, but i don’t see why it wouldn’t be).
    so if we mix this being’s interpretation of the two creatures she loves the most: a human (not anymore but still) and a robot, we would get something like reg, the only being in made in abyss that is bolth human and intervention module.
    this would also explain faputa’s relation with reg, and allow reg to still be in love (let’s be honest) with riko even if he regain’s his memories.

    In regards to the other white whistles, I absolutely can't wait see them in future manga, however they turn out, though I really hope they'll be major characters who stick around for a while. And, in terms of Wakuna, one thing that sticks in my head when I think about his whistle is that maybe it's a reference to the story of Jonah and the Whale? Since people seem to think he's a monk-like figure of some kind, it could fit with him being contemplative. Or, since a lot of people are tying the show to Dante's Inferno, the other thing I thought of is maybe it's a reference to the Leviathan, being a sea monster, and, with the Leviathan being the holder of the Gate of Hell in the poem, maybe that relates to Wakuna in his title as Lord of Guidance. But those are just my guesses.

    • @TheMickellPickell
      @TheMickellPickell  Před 6 lety +1

      Those are really interesting ideas! You can lump Wakuna with so many of these subjects because of how ambiguous he not only appears to be visually but also how little other white whistles talk of them. As mentioned in the video whether he is good or bad is up to negotiation. I was always content with the idea of him being senile over cynical because i figured his name relays to this idea of being a guide of some sort (the dolphin being symbolic as something to follow when lost at sea, or as i put it in spiritual literature relays to the guider of souls), yet I didn't consider that perhaps the whistle is meant to be a visual representation of somekind of sea entity, much like the destructive leviathin. Awesome input!
      Hope to see these characters soon!

    well take in mind reg has characteristics of lyza such as saying irredeemable and in his rare flash backs seems familiar with her.
    now with time dilation we now relative to the surface time can move slower in the abyss but it doesn't mean that there might be zones where it moves faster. or even backwards we just don't know for sure yet.
    I personally think reg has lyza inside his noggin and that lyza and or reg had been taking care of faputa perhaps in place of riko. we have seen one artifact capable of mind uploads for sure with Bondrewd. it would explain why reg saved riko in the first place it would allow lyza to come back to the surface avoiding the curse and the fact regs appearance happened right when lyza whistle and notes came back to the surface is suspicious. The ending credits show how unlikely it is for a balloon message to travel from the 4th layer and lyza somehow even deeper got one all the way up with her white whistle attached an object unique and of great sentimental value. makes more sense to hand deliver.
    it would also explain regs battle damage because we know for sure someone like reg has hands with three claws and reg has shown to be impervious to practically everything but the most extreme but he has that chunk taken out of his helmet.
    If lyza hijacked reg to go back to the surface I'm sure regs kind probably didn't like that.
    As for faputa it could be during returning to the surface lyza/reg met her and maybe being reminded of riko took care of her for a while and faputa grew obviously attached. As for the name it could be riko and lyza share the same naming sense and for whatever reason named themselves reg while in the robot body. or lyza earlier made friends with the original personality in the body and gave it the name reg. As the big guy shown in the latest layer names probably are not common for their kind.
    Anyways Lyza is on a mission to get riko at the surface and makes a promise to faputa to return. only to forget from running out of energy and then being shocked into rebooting. and because of the possible variations of time dilation it could have been a short time to very long.
    cause during bondrews fight reg does say it feels like he's got people inside of him. I think it's lyza, regs orginal personality, and current reg.
    I just associated the name problem as parent and child have the same sense in naming things.
    I think faputa is pretty much what she appears to be. A hollow child that's gotten in a twisted situation with the village.

    • @TheMickellPickell
      @TheMickellPickell  Před 6 lety +2

      Now that's something I didn't consider. You are correct that during Reg's confrontation with Bondrewd after being synergized with energy to fire the incinerator, he mentions that he felt like people were inhabiting his mind. The images that appear were indeed Lyza and a bot that looks very much like a past version of Reg. I agree that there was indeed a consideration for some kind of promise to return, but my mind said *no* when I thought about Lyza. Yet you made a very clear reference, that being to mind switching which makes your theory VERY POSSIBLE!
      Lyza's balloon made it from wherever she is to the Seeker Camp, it's amazing that without the aid of other people who reside in the abyss that her message would never have surfaced (just a little something I thought was quite special).
      As for Faputa, time can only tell of her importance. Though I don't doubt that many answers will arise over their next confrontation.

    I think it might just be the other way round: Riko is the reincarnation of Faputa.
    Reg has always been Reg, states Faputa, and when Riko was revived by the Curse-warding-kage, she abviously got at least some connection to the abyss itself.
    I think, when this happened, she became an incarnation of Faputa, for they were both born inside the abyss, and because Faputa already knew Reg at that point, Riko already had a connection to the Name, So she went on naming her Dog that way and afterwards naming Reg that way, because somehow she knew that it was his real name.

      That is a good question!
      Akihito did confirm in the live conference that the name Reg has no real significance outside of it being a Dog's name, BUT that doesn't diminish the strangeness that comes with how Faputa knew of Reg as "Reg" prior to meeting Riko. Clearly Lyza also refereed to him as Reg, its TOO much of a strange to merely consider a coincidence!

    Faputa is Irumuuyi's final child. Born to destroy the narehate village. How she knows of Reg is still a mystery for now. Now I'm not 100% if they mentioned it (might have to read it again) but how much time has passed from when the 3 sages changed their bodies up to the current time of the story? It would have to be several decades or even a century or more?

    • @TheMickellPickell
      @TheMickellPickell  Před 5 lety +1

      Being perfectly honest I think it was way longer than a decade (at least in the measurement of years from outside the abyss). When we first see the abyss from the ganja corps it’s almost a whirlpool in the sea. There is no orth or civilisation surrounding the outside of it. I believe for a civilisation like orth to come into existence, for the amount of legends to exist regarding it. Wouldn’t surprise me if their delve began at least a century ago.

      Another thing that could represent the passage of time is the length of Vueko’s hair. Something I noticed to be a trend on immortal/really old characters that look young is that their hair still grows while the rest of them doesn’t. Probably not relevant, though.

    • @TheMickellPickell
      @TheMickellPickell  Před 5 lety +1

      @@steropeshu Still an interesting point though! It might even have to do with the layer itself. Because Veko didn't give herself up to Irumyuii she isn't a hollow, but still managed to live for years when the only physical change has been her hair. It's not like we recognise any elderly traits on her face or body, we just know that time has passed considering her hair length. I'm sure people do indeed grow up whilst travelling in the abyss, even if the time works differently down there, they still likely would age normally (everything about their biology changes as well) yet just her hair? It is strange!

      Though I don't agree at all with the theory, I still don't think it's fair to diminish their ideas.
      For the time in which the manga came out, this person clearly didn't have access to the new chapters (which clearly illustrate Faputa's backstory) but still tried to develop an idea of some kind which I personally appreciate, theory crafting can be really difficult.
      Also, the idea of the relic being about to bring someone back to life doesn't seem so absurd considering the bell that could literally stop time. Not to mention the relic Ozen owns that allows for corpses to wander about and Bondrewd's soul seeker zoahaloic which literally allows him to switch consciousness.
      Again I don't agree with the faputa being the re-incarnation of riko theory (and now seeing the newest chapter his theory is debunked), it still remains an interesting idea.

      Let me just establish a few things mate. First of all this video was published WAY before the chapters had confirmed things. The theory that was posed by the internet regarding the connection between Riko and Faputa was made on the same day Faputa first made her appearance. This was before Veko was introduced, this was before we learnt about the three sages. This theory dates back to a time where the Ganja Corps weren’t even a thing.
      Of course this theory doesn’t work now but at the time it was fun to imagine and I felt like putting my two cents in at the time which is why I wanted to talk about it and how I don’t feel like it held true.

She couldn't have known it by the dog, so the real question is how did Reg obtain his name BEFORE Riko's dog. It could have potentially been Lyza if we consider the time difference in the abyss, but not once in the anime or manga has she refered to him as "Reg" but it may be revealed later that it is indeed the case!
