I'm so glad this cancer hasn't killed me yet. Hearing John playing on a new album was item I didn't even think to put on the bucket list. I've seen them play twice. First time at a festival I was so far away I couldn't see them, second time, John wasn't with them. I'm not likely to see them live again. But thanks for the memories guys.

Wow, I knew I started late buying my first Chilli Peppers album (Mother's milk) at the same time as their previous album (The uplift Mofo Party Plan) but didn't realise they were that old. Granted I was only 10-11 at the time I started listening to them :P

Def his best drumming album... coming from someone who plays drums and studied jazz improv/music theory in college. I'm blown away by his playing, especially in this album. Without a doubt, one of the all-time great rock drummers.
He's the only member of the band who truly seems to appreciate the amazing opportunities he's had in life. The other guys keep jerking around, quitting to do heroin and make boring solo albums, etc. Chad is always solid - shows up on time for rehearsal and recording too!
They mentioned on Howard Stern that they were going for a Who vibe with this song. Chad definitely seems to be doing some Keith Moon inspired stuff here (except Chad can actually keep a beat and doesn't pass out from drugs in the middle of a song!).

Seeing Josh in the video warmed my heart! And in such a position, too! Rocking out to RHCP music in his room, rockin that Unlimited Love poster behind the mirror (he is, in a way, still part of the RHCP--so much that they put him in the video!) and then protecting Anthony, standing in the way of doom and him... Kinda like he did by stepping up to the plate when John left the band. A guardian. A friend. A brother. No matter what. Unlimited Love.

John Frusciante pink pop festival that’s all you need to see
this could be josh, but i think its meant to represent keidis' younger self
6 years of sobriety tomorrow. My life wouldn’t be the same without this band. Frusciante being back warms my souls and I can’t wait to hear this album and to play it over and over. I need his harmonies and the fender crying over Anthony’s Melodie’s with fleas bass bouncing to a nice chad pocket that allows the band to be themselves. Stadium arcadium was a masterpiece in my eyes but all the albums they have made are amazing. Such a huge fan and my own personal health and life story is so closely related to this band… I’m so excited…

I was a bit worried that RHCP would release a new album trying to cater towards more modern audiences and become one of those bands that i used to like. However what I've heard from this album has been absolute bangers with the same fire and spice that made me fall in love with the chilli peppers. I'll always love these guys and the emotion they put in all their work to capture our emotion and touch our souls

I thought the first singles were Meh.... but I had faith in the them, and the album, and that it wouldn't be weak... and it's awesome. It feels right to have Frusciante-fueled RHCP back. It makes how utterly fucked our world feels, feel slightly less fucked.
Instantly loved Black Summer, the others like the album grew on me, and still dies and will still the more I listen to it.

They have been making music for the past 4 decades without losing their authenticity and that says a lot about them.

They are the band that got me into music at the age of 6, the first song I heard was California back in 1999. Even though I'm a metal head, I still love RHCP, and the fact John Frustainte has returned is more than a dream come true.

I’m 16 years old and I’ve been listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers since I was not even a year old. My dad played them everywhere so I sort of grew up with them. I know every lyric to just about every song and I’ve seen them once in La when I was only 6 years old. To this day they are still my favorite band and I could listen to them forever. This new album has truly hit home for me and it makes me so happy to see the original four back together. Keep on rocking guys! 🌶🤘🏻

I discovered RHCP thanks to my music teacher when I was 13 years old.. I spend all my summer listening to them. He died years ago but I will never forget that moment, I will never forget him.

Chad being an amazing drummer is not big news, of course, but he's usually relegated to a pure rhythmic role (which he does crazy good, he's the backbone of the band), so seeing him getting looser and showing off in a song, like he so often does in the live improvs, is just so refreshing and beautiful. My guy has his chops 😂

Have been counting down the days for the album to drop, and its finally here. Have been on the chili train for over 30 years. I love all there music. If I feel I don't like a song I somehow find a way to love it. This doesn't happen with any other band. Only the Red Hots. A true blessing to have grown with this band.
After several listens, I conclude that this is the best red hot chilli peppers albums I’ve heard since californicaton.
It's certainly in the conversation with By The Way. Great record man.
I was a Jr in high school when MOTHERS MILK came out to rescue us from bands like Poison and Warrant...never beat that one.
BTW and Stadium tho. But this is absolutely in the top 5 for me 🔥

That chord progression in the final minute is deliciously heavy! Great work from Frusciante. Sounds grunge-esque, headbang-worthy accompanied by Chad's awesome drumming. So glad John is back. Can't wait to see them on tour!
I've heard this record about 10 times now. "These are the ways" was the song that made me fall in love with the new record (White Braids and Pillow Chair) helped too along with Heavy WIng (wich I feel is possibly one of Rock and Roll's greatest songs ever) I can't wait for this video

I like the fact the song isn't about "California" and such. It's a song about America and RHCP are the quintessential American band.

No. What has been released thus far has been pretty medicore considering Frusciante is back. Expected a lot more. I'm underwhelmed.

@@EddieMachetti You'll feel like an ass when you realize that this is way more energetic than By The Way, which is an absolute classic they released 20 years ago. If you want to listen to something they did 30 years ago, it's available everywhere. I love it, but they don't want to do that anymore and I'm perfectly fine with it, because I love the new music as well. I'm a professional musician for 22 years and I can tell you with certainty that from a technical perspective they are as good as they have ever been, and in some ways, better. The rest is subjective, you can like or not.
I very much prefer to listen to them exploring many different styles with competence than one or two styles with mastery as they used to do in the beginning. They've already explored their own brand of psychedelic/funk/punk countless times and it would feel extremely boring if they kept on doing it forever, as I'm sure some of the shallower fans would love. They intentionally change every time and still always sound like the RHCP. Not an easy thing to do. You can like whatever you want, but this is not garbage just because it doesn't fit your subjective taste.
@@sombra1111 I listened to it all last night. It's not bad, but nothing too special either. I expected more with Frusciante's return. Overall underwhelming. It'll probably grow on me. Long time fan. 39 yrs old. Got into them back in the 80s. As a drummer myself, I'm pleased with Chad's work on this album.
This clip (especially the final part) brings us that legitimate feeling of fury and pleasure typical of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.. Honestly, this band forces us to realize that longevity has nothing to do with getting on stage and singing the same songs from their 40-year career.

I love when RHCP get melodic! I even really like when it gets hard! Its a perfect blend of melodic and rocking! A great California song! Another thing I love is Anthony's 😮 face in the mirror at 0:21 haha!
