Thanks for the info. After 3 months I finally got my backrest. I had to make and appointment to get it installed. Had to leave it for the day. Took another month to get appointment. Guess what, they didn't do it. I said give me the part and left. Owner wouldn't talk to me after I asked for him. Anyway 20 minutes after I got home and reviewed your video, installed. Thanks
@@learnwhileyoucan5947I find out and let you know. Hopefully get out Sunday but possible rain coming. Did like how it feels when sitting on bike but a big trip will tell.
I followed your video. I used a mallet and tapped lightly on the black bracket and it went into place nicely. took me about 10 minutes from start to finish to install.
Thanks for sharing! I'm really looking at that back rest. Looks like it comes out fairly easy. I need to remove it when my wife rides, she doesn't like it being there on the older RT.
You are welcome. To release the back rest you have to lift the rider’s seat and pull the rest lock to release. Not terrible, but not a lot of room to sneak you hand in.
Man I got so frustrated trying to install this myself! I could not get the bolt to line up with the tab that you screw it into so I stopped.....I will revisit this this weekend with your instructions. Like you said I probably need to reposition that tab for the bolt sand then I should be good.
It can be frustrating. As you see on the video, I had to rethink the installation a couple of times. Once it’s installed, it makes for much more comfort.
This backrest came directly from BRP. I ordered it as part of the original build, but it was back ordered and they sent it to me separately. I purchased the RT from MotoMember in Virginia
They installed the comfort seat and the backrest at the dealer. I am having the seat replaced, under warranty because is sagging, but the dealer said they have to charge me 3 hours of labor to replace the seat, at US $125.00 per hour! so i thought to do it myself, but I cannot remove the backrest! I ended up calling a local mechanic so it will be a lot cheaper. I really don't know how to remove the backrest, even though I searched for videos, and unfortunately, your video does not tells me how.
I’ll take a look when I get home and see if I can provide you something. Removing the seat is not difficult. I removed it when I install the back rest but you’re right I didn’t go through step-by-step how I removed it.
It amazes me that they’re going to charge you to take the seat off in order to replace one that is under warranty. My right side, as you’re sitting on the motorcycle, saddlebag latch doesn’t work. I’m taking it into the dealer on the seventh. They said they don’t know if it will be covered under warranty. Seems like a no-brainer. The motorcycle is brand new.

Glad it helped! Makes a big difference in the ride comfort don’t you think?

No need for you to apologize as your saving us from having difficulties. Good video. I'm going to add one to the '22 I've got coming.
It makes a big difference on comfort?
Thank you so much. It would have been so much more difficult an install without your video. Great job.
Thank you!
Thank you so much in putting this up it helped hubby and l so much. Thank you from Australia
I am glad it helped. Always love my visits to Australia! Beautiful country.
You are a life saver on the rear seat removal on my RT
Glad it helped.

Great job!
Thanks for the info. Saved me $160 that the dealership was going to charge me.
Glad it helped!
$160 labor to install that is ROBBERY.
Thanks, the video was perfect for me to complete installing my backrest.
Glad it helped. When riding season starts again, I’ll post on the value of the Baja Ron Sway bars I had installed.
Thanks for the vid. Going to get a backrest either from BRP or aftermarket. I know I will need one.
You will find it makes a big difference in the way of comfort.
It made a big difference for me. On really long rides I can even rise up off the seat and lean on the backrest :)

Interesting install, where you got this back rest would be helpful.

Your back seat should not have came off like that I doubt it was installed correct in the first place
