This album helped me find strength. It really did. Depression sucks, suicidal thoughts suck, but whathever happens I will NOT die on my knees. I will fight this battle for as long as I can, I will be brave and I will not surrender. I will not give up, because that's the path I've chosen and my fear will not lead me astray.
This album was basically both my sword and my shield through some of the hardest times of my life.

completely agree. Also something fascinating this album has and other Tool albums don't is the atmosphere, it's much more atmospheric than the other albums (which are still amazing but in their own way), also Fear Inoculum somehow feels a bit futuristic at least to me.

Not to be this guy.. but I disagree. This album as a hole cannot be listened to seamlessly like, lateralus, undertow, or 10,000 fists. If you listen to this album from start to finish it doesn't have the continuity that their previous albums have. If your ears like that, that's fine, but mine don't and I miss that. This is just my opinion.

I’m 48, and knew of tool for many years but I never really opened my mind to them. Just this past month I’ve been infatuated with this band, my favorite band at the moment is definitely tool. Crazy amazing.
Danny Carey actually had three years of Music studies in conservatory percussion and drums at the University of Missouri Kansas City he was basically just a year away from a degree when he dropped out and moved out to LA. My drum teacher had classes with him

I am a HARD CORE Tool fan. Have been for nearly 30 years. Absolutely love every song they've ever put out. Descending may just be their best song. It certainly is a 12 on a 10 scale! I don't say this lightly. They've improved with each album. Having witnessed their musical progression to perfection has truly been a gift from the universe. We are indeed fortunate to have been part of this experience.

They aged like fine wine on this album. They relaxed a bit and are just jamming. Yet no other band sounds like this. They have a very distinctive sound and they have mastered greatness.
No one even comes close to tool, a league of their own and should be defined as their own genre at this point

I am a huge fan of King Crimson's "Discipline" album, and to me "Fear Inoculum" is the modern-day "Discipline". Tool has always took KC's blueprint of repetitive, hypnotic, math-rock riffs from that record and adapted/expanded it to their modern sound, but "Fear Inoculum" just takes it to another level. What a time to be alive as a fan of music.

It's like Tool tapped into some spiritual force when recording this album, no other band evokes these kinds of emotions in me. Tool is a very special band, others can try to imitate Tool, but Tool is truly a one of a kind band.

They really hit the primal instincts and emotions. The battle drums, the riffs, the tempo, the lyrics and the melody woven together perfectly and takes you on an unexpected journey with so many different layers that tell a thousand stories. This is why this never gets old. It's simply a beautiful masterpiece. There aren't many songs out there that bring so much emotion and energy.

I was very much pleased with fear inoculum, great album, but as far as their "best" song, their coup de grace, Tool's magnum opus, for me it's ALWAYS gonna be the 3-part "disposition/reflection/triad" off the album lateralus....

I had major respect for everyone in the band and I listened to their songs, loving every second. I knew the lyrics. but I never UNDERSTOOD them. But this song man, this song. I was halfway through, and it just hit me, everything at once. I teared up, no other band or song can make me feel this way, this meaning, this beauty and this tragedy. This primordial cycle of life and death. Man, where to begin? I had a really close friend introduce me to Tool when i was in High School. It was 1994 and we were on a bus trip to Galveston Tx for a field trip. He was a drummer, so naturally his drum teacher introduced him, cause Danny Carey is the TRUTH. Anyway, as I got older, the albums Tool released have always fit my life, and what the overarching dilemma is in my life at the time. I've listened to every album countless times in my travels for work. For years i worked 3.5 hrs away from home, but i would drive home on my days off so i speant plenty of nights driving down a long and lonsome interstate, but i always had Tool to keep me company. This album released in August of 2019 and in November of 2019 we took my mom to the ER. Turned out that the uncomfortable/bloated feeling in her stomach was a tumor that was too large to cut out, and had progressed too far to treat. Now i've watched my mother face down and beat the worst that life can throw at a mother. It started almost 30 years earlier when my brother died at the age of 15. I was 10 at the time, and all i can remember is the pain in her eyes from that night on, but she grit her teeth and pushed on for my sake, and the sake of my father who really blamed himself. He wanted to tell my brother that he had to stay home that night, but couldn't think of a good reason so he let him go. My brother left the house without his inhaler. He went to his girlfriend's house and ended up coming in contact with seafood, that sent him into anaphylaxis which overcame him less than 2 miles from home. There have been a multitude of shitty situations since that i watched as she handled them with Grace. So much so that she's been my Hero since i turned 25 and actually hit the age of reason. Anyway, from diagnosis to death was only 12 days, but it seemed like an eternity at the time. For those that have had the fortune to not have spent time with someone dying of cancer, let me just tell you that its a SHITSHOW of epic proportions. To hear my mom scream in agony, and beg God to take her was, well im sure you can imagine. As with all good moms she always put us first, so much so that this tumor managed to get so big that there was nothing they could do, before being noticed. How could she not know you ask? Well about 10 years earlier she had a lap band put in to help control her weight, so she always attributed her stomach issues to that. Anyway, didnt mean to get off subject, but it provides the background to why this song is so significant to me. As i spent nights at the hospital with her, and only after they hit her with another dose of Morphine, there were 20-30 minute periods of piece, and in these moments i listened to this album. This song was the last song I really took the time to analiyse because i had a preconcieved notion of how it was going to go, because of the sneak peaks they released of this song, prior to the album. Little did i know that I would have so much to relate to. I feel like Maynard was sitting in a hospital somewhere going through the same experience while writing this song. Thats the beauty of Tool though isn't it? You can use their music to help get through almost anything cause it can relate on sooo many levels. I'm not sure if I would have made it through without them. Wings for Marie has always been the song that I use to honor my mother. "Set as i am in my ways and my arrogance, burden of proof tossed upon the believers. You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence. Judith Marie, Unconditional One" Will forever define our relationship, but Descending tells the story of her ending infinitly better than i ever could

This is slowly but surely becoming my absolute favourite TOOL song. It's epic and majestic beyond words, its grandiosity can't be overstated. No, it's not "heavy" or crazy in any way, because it doesn't need to be. It's telling a story about survival, about going to the depths of the abyss to confront our demons. "Mobilize, stay alive!". It's a deep, primal, and fundamental story about our very existence. The instrumental buildup towards the epic end is unlike anything I've ever heard in my life.

I am ex heroin addict. Well, started as pills. Ended as heroin. I snorted whatnI was assume was heroin, could've could've fentanol. I remember being in the bathroom. Apparently I then came out and started eating a pop part. I don't remember that. I remember being in the bathroom then coming to, hearing the paramedics. "Hey buddy. Can you hear us?" They said. I could've even make out the English language. All I truly heard was my mother crying and praying in my ear. That triggered me to sit up and vomit profusely. I was shivering cold. My shivering resembled someone imitating a chicken when calling someone a chicken. I was that cold. They urged me to go to the hospital, but I knew there was nothing they could do. I just wanted a hot shower. My mom made me promise to never do opioids again. I got to the point where I was truly panicking. "What am I going to do now?" I thought. I couldn't live without it..I later found someone who sold me some lsd. I sat on the 2 seater swing at my moms. I sit Indian style and rock in it when I listen to music. I had my headphones and my phone. I chose to play this song..Something happened..I started to feel my body..I thought to myself "I AM." I became truly present. I listened to the words of the song. I became frightened, but I felt a hand. Holding mine. Patting my back. A feeling of comfort..by the time Maynard exclaimed "MOBILIZE, STAY ALIVE!" I was in tears. Good tears. It felt as if all the weight of all my baggage lifted like helium. I felt as light as a feather. I felt ok. I cried. Thank you. Thank you Maynard. Thank you to God..the spirits..the universe..myself..whatever you want to call it..for saving me. I have not craved opioids ever since. Or any drug for that matter. Thank you also to Albert Hoffman for his discovery. He has saved so many lives.
LSD combined with this band saved my life as well man on several occasions first time hearing lateralus was also my first acid experience words can’t describe the joy and happiness and just plain relief I felt that night I was at the point before then of completely just giving up until I realized how special life was I had a couple bad experiences after that when I did too much psilocybin and then another time on gel tabs but even the really bad experience I had changed my life showed me how much I was abusing weed everyday just constantly stoned out of my mind withering away not doing shit with my life I wasn’t depressed anymore because of the first experience I had but I no longer had the addiction to being out of reality stoned anymore it did shake me up pretty bad tho for the first few weeks I haven’t smoked since I prolly will tho soon but just on occasion not abusing it and I’m choosing not to take psychedelics anymore either because I reached my max the last time the trip was so bad I thought I was stuck like that forever and I had really bad depersonalization for about a month also why I’ve been taking a huge break from any drugs but in the end I learned something from it so it really wasn’t a bad trip per se bad experience yes amazing lesson I learned yes and I’ll always have the good experiences with me that changed my life for the better acid is truly magical and so is this band but psychedelics are no joke they can take you into your mind and really fuck with you if your not carful I’m so thankful everyday that I’m in reality and still am not wasting my life away and it also led me to this band that will forever be part of me

Descending was the highlight of their set for my husband and I. It felt as if we were the only two people there. It was magical to put it bluntly. Best show, a meaningful date for us after 20 years together, money well spent.

That's accurate. I balked at the length of songs like Fear Inoculum and Descending when I first got the album and thought it was self-indulgent nonsense. Then I was giving it another listen a few years later and for some reason it hooked me and those two songs are among my favorites. I don't think any band but Tool makes music that can do that.
Idk what it is about Fear Innoculum, but it brings me to tears every time I listen to this album (especially this song). It's like Tool tapped into some spiritual force when recording this album, no other band evokes these kinds of emotions in me. Tool is a very special band, others can try to imitate Tool, but Tool is truly a one of a kind band.
The meaning behind the songs of Fear Inoculum is returning to the fundamentals of existence. No propaganda, no fear mongering, no brainwashing. Just primal symmetry, pure existence, and the joy of the spirit.
