    Wow Pine Creek was ripping. The contrast of that hike is so spectacular. Starting in forest meadow and watching the walls get higher as you descend and the dirt changing to sand is amazing. My opinion is I think the Ponderosas smell like butterscotch. Thanks for sharing some of this area's beauty with everyone.

      I had nothing to compare it to, but was surprised by how deep some of the crossings were. Yeeesh! Glad you enjoyed it man!

    I’d like to see you and Justin do a collaboration. Those 360 cameras are getting a bit better it seems. Thanks for the upload!

      Justin and I have chatted many times about getting together. Need to make it happen. Might be harder though with him having a kid coming in a couple months.

    Nice upgrades on the x4, especially the protective lenses that screw on. Camera has been a game changer for capturing my backpacking adventures. Thanks for the video!

    Can I attach this camera in a neck mount for my running trips in the forest

    Though Insta360 is getting a bad rap for their sponsorships, I am still going to get either the x4 or the ace pro as my main shooter, along with my iPhone to shoot additional shots.

      It's unfortunate some of the reports that have been shared. My experience has been very positive with Insta360. Nothing close to what I've seen some people share.
      I shot this whole video on the AcePro and X4. Together they felt like a great combo.

    Not a fan of drones for obvious reasons-I’m all for a drone alternative. Footage looks really good.

      Yeah, I sold my drone a couple years ago and have yet to regret that choice. :)

    This tech is so much cooler than GoPro! How's the battery life and have you had the batteries out in cold weather?

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  Před měsícem +1

      I've generally been more satisfied with Insta360 from a user standpoint than GoPro.
      Battery life has been pretty good. I was able to film this entire 10 mile hike on about 45% total battery use. Haven't had it in cold enough weather to speak to that aspect.

    We have got to find out why Brigham designed those pockets so shallow . . . I would love to know what the purpose was behind that. If they had been 1 inch deeper . . . hmmm

    Looked like a fun trip! After using an Insta360 Go 2 for a while and watching 360 videos.. I just don't like wide or super wide angle footage. Even on my DJI Action 4, I prefer the standard dewarped or 'Linear' in Insta360 terms. They are fun to use, but the post processing takes a lot of time and ends up using a lot of hard drive space.
    My workflow on my current setup is way faster. I edit using 720p preview footage the camera autogenerates. With proxy mode in DaVinci Resolve. Way faster to edit and renders the 4k footage.

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  Před měsícem +2

      Yeah I agree with you. I try to film in the dewarp/linear view anytime I can to keep it more natural. I like the perspective you get from the 360 camera, but I don't see it ever being used as a primary camera. I like the opportunity for the wide perspective and that it captures everything. But it definitely does require an increased amount of post work.
      Thanks!

      @@BackcountryExposure I thought they would be cool for capturing footage you may miss. Like while on a bike. Or creating 360 panoramics for google street maps. They definitely have some fun uses. Especially if you have VR content in mind.

    I prefer watching nature as it is. To me nature is appreciated as when I walk through it. If I film it, it’s to remind it as I saw it. That’s the way that trip has to be remembered. I hope that this way of filming fades away… sorry! 🥴
