I think it would of been enjoyable to see Kristen and her real social circle and get more of a sense of what she’s been up to rather than just plodding her straight into Lauren’s old life and hiring her a friend - Stacie the bartender
I read though that they actually did become good friends in real life - kinda like the opposite of all the other relationships 😂.
It’s because they used the people around Lauren to create multiple stories and they just have Kristin carry all the whole storyline. It helped balance things out for Lauren where she could always look like the nice one, whereas Kristin had to play all personalities since they knew she could do it. With Lauren they had spencer and Heidi and their drama, Stephanie and Doug, Whitney and her storylines, Heidi and Bolthouse and Elodie, Heidi and her mom & sister, lo and audrina fighting, Justin and audina… every single time Lauren could come out looking like the nice one with the least combative storyline. When Kristin came they wanted her to carry the whole show. Justin and Kristin and Audrina and Brody Kristin and Macakela. No matter what the storyline, Kristin was front and center and had to carry the all the drama.
Ugh…I already miss Lauren! She was the heartbeat behind this show. This show was dead after she drove off into the sunset.

*Interesting fact:* Audrina confirmed the fight with Kristin over Justin Bobby was fake. She said the producers pushed the idea & she told the producers she didn’t want to do it because she was in another relationship at that time but they wouldn’t let her leave until they had their “fight.” That’s why it doesn’t feel genuine because her & Kristin were like let’s just get this over with. Kristin confirmed this too & admitted she never dated Justin Bobby nor was she attracted to him like that.
True - but I don't believe it was this fight. There is another one at Heidi's house where they have a 'fight', I'm pretty sure its that one they're talking about :)
Yeah I remember reading that they had to be reminded this is a TV show and they had to have a confrontation before they could leave the party. So Audrina and Kirstin just reacted to get it over with.
The place Speidi move into is actually owned by Enzos parents, they never lived there they filmed there, and that's why Enzo was always around.

Yeah no I read that this fight was actually pretty random because Audrina and Kristin knew the producers were going to try to pin them against each other when Kirstin came on the show, so they had talked beforehand deciding not to give in to that drama and then somehow they still did (I blame Stephanie a little bit hahaha) and that's why Kristin gets so mad and is like "So it's gonna be like this?!" because she thought they wouldn't get into it.
Kristen had every right to date Justin. Her and Audrina weren’t friends so there is no girl code

Its a fake story line. Even the "fight" of Audrina and Kristina was fake. I never watched the hills after Lauren left, it really gives me Jersey shore vibes and I'm glad I didn't watch the hills any longer (Jersey shore was awesome though :D )
This is when The Hills tried so hard to keep up with the other reality tv shows that were growing in popularity at the time and became far too catty and scripted. There's more fights and back and fourths in Season 5 & 6 than there were in the entire Hills series. It really diminished the quality of the show because you could tell everyone was being extra for the cameras and the drama wasn't natural at all

When they showed Lauren in the beginning during the recap my first thought was “uhhhh I MISS HER SO MUCH”. And it’s only the first episode without her.
Seems like even the cast don’t know what to do about Kristin joining the cast. Los like “so are we just supposed to be friends with her now?”.

Fun fact: The house that Heidi and Spencer “rent” is the actual house that the little boy Enzo lives in. They would use their house to film spiedi never lived there.

I don’t know the exact reason why they filmed there. Enzo is (or was) a child actor so maybe it was easier to film at his actual house with his parents near by. I read it in an article, I’m sure if you google it, it will come up. They definitely could afford their own house they were making BANK at that time. Haha

The original song that played had lyrics about stinging like a viper or something. Even better to describe K Cav. I think the song was put back in, the last time I re-watched this episode on Prime Now before it was removed.

This has to be the most frustrating episode when it comes to editing & the amount of voiceover (adr) they use. First off “in real life” the rooftop party was actually Audrina’s bday party. The producers for some reason with adr made it Heidi & Spencer’s welcome home party. Also both Audrina & Kristen has stated that the producers actually locked the exit door & didn’t let them leave until they had some sort of confrontation so Kristen pulled Audrina to the side & said “Let’s just give them what they want let’s give them a show” & that’s exactly what they did. P.S. Jade’s tattoo says “Respect” And the “Jersey Shore guy” @ 9:45 is Audrina’s brother lol
That last part you’re talking about was at Heidis Birthday party at their new house in a later episode. When the show started Kristen and Audrina had discussed that the producer were probably gonna try and pin them against each other and make them fight over Justin but they both agreed that they wouldn’t let that happen. But once they filmed this rooftop party scene and Audrina and Stephanie actually freaked out on her- Kristin decided to go along with the producers and fall back on her and Audrinas agreement to not be rivals. That is why she says “alright is it gonna be like this? If it’s gonna be like this it’s on bitch!”
And at Heidis party at her new house is where the producers wouldn’t let the two leave untill they confronted each other

Actually no. A pick me girl and a cool girl are different. Unfortunately, a pick me girl does more of the things you've seen Lauren & Audrina do on this show to get a guy to like them. It's when a girl abandons her self-worth and goes along with whatever a guy wants in hopes that he will 'pick her' for being agreeable. It's a very very common trait among women and girls.
Kristen on the other hand most definitely was and still seems to portray herself to be "The cool girl". Aka the girl that knows how to land the guy easily with her mixture of "im hot, but I'm into "guy hobbies" and don't take life seriously" vibe. The cool girl behavior isn't about wanting to be picked. It's about exercising the power they have to get whatever guy they want, whenever they want him, whether he's single or not.

The show was so awful from this point on. The acting wasn’t realistic at all. Went from trying to maintain real friendships and relationships to completely fake ones.

I don’t know Heidi and Spencer were still on at this point their story line is boring….the only good part with them is after Heidi gets her surgery she goes home to her mom and the mom is shocked.

Luv Lauren but as far as a “reality” tv show goes we needed Kristen to bring the drama 🔥. Lauren was getting tired of the petty plot lines which I can’t really blame her 🤷🏼♀️ . She grew up 💯 . Spencer never gave anything Heidi wanted not even a picket fenced house. He took away everything good she had in her life. He even influenced her to literally change her face. they are still together till' this day because Heidi is already used to her abuser she never realized what he did to her. She's so blind and weak minded. She never stood a chance.

Heidi was normal and very confident of herself before meeting Spencer. After she started dating him she started being really insecure of her breasts size and eventually other features. You will notice how she started changing her appearance slowly throughout each seasons and ended up eventually with 10 plastic surgeries. Are you telling me that Spencer has not been a negative influence in Heidi's life?
@@moreadventure3627 I don’t know because we’ve only seen them on a fake tv show. However I do know from interviews that Heidi was insecure about her breasts ever since she was a little girl and always wanted them done but never had the money which is why it was the first thing she got done. She then got her nose done because it was broken by a dancer once and then she had the 10 surgeries but has always said that Spencer was very against it and didn’t want her to go through with it. I’m sure she said it on her Ryan secrest radio interview and she’s said it ever since that he was totally against the surgery and saying she didn’t need anything. Xxx

I'm pretty sure Kristen's dating Jay Cutler in this time period, she mentions it when Audrina and Heidi visit her on Very Cavallari, and i'm sure i've seen a clip of her at the wedding where she says "Jay" after catching the flowers. I know way too much about this show 😂
I believe the guy she referenced on Very Cavallari was the Hills cameraman, Miguel Medina. They managed to keep their relationship a secret until paparazzi caught them at an airport (around 2010).
That's the real music! Even the last song in the last episode when Lauren is leaving was the real original song. Also the house that Spencer/Heidi got in this episode is not their current house. Their current house is his parent's family house in Santa Barbara! This house in this episode was not where they actually lived (they lived next door) and they would just film at this house. Later when Enzo comes on, he was not really their neighbor but a paid actor

I’m the type of person that always finishes watching a show til it ends just cause I want to see how things end, but I do have to say that once Kristen took over, I didn’t think this show was as good as it was when Lauren narrated.

It's definitely people who are watching The Hills for the first time, the rest of us are enjoying the nostalgia and lighthearted fun! I really do love rewatching these with the two of you. My husband and I loved to watch the Hills as a newly married couple when it first came out. The way you two talk and watch the episodes are exactly like we were sitting on our sofa watching the program back in the day! Love it...don't change for anyone! :)
You can just tell the whole vibe of the show has already changed without LC. Completely scripted at this point. All of a sudden all of these people hangout with each other just because Lauren isn't there? Also Heidi and Spencer have officially lost their marbles at this point and the house they end up "living" in was never their house. They just went there for filming and the house actually belonged to the little boy's family that ends up being apart of the show later on.
I wonder why Kristin never came onto the show earlier ? Was she insulted she only got asked to join when Lauren was leaving or what?
Heidi's and Spencer's apartment before apparently wasn't really their apartment, either. Tbh it has always been super scripted and nonsensical.

If I’m not mistaken Kristen did an interview where she mentioned how they (Kristin, Audrina, Steph, Lo) all agreed they weren’t going to let producers pin them against each other. Turns out the girls (Audrina, Steph,Lo) Were gifted expensive purses by producers to stir up the drama at Heidi’s party
The version I've read is that only Steph and Lo agreed to spread the drug rumours and they were promised Burkin bags but didn't get them.
