  • Now I may be late to the party but it seems that this SLED Obsession is quite interesting. I for one think there are benefits to the contraption but can't really get into it. The CRKD Nitro Deck and the Retro Flag Nintendo Switch Controller seem to really be the talk of the town!

So what was the point of trying if these act as docks? Neither one has said that they do that nor claimed it any point. Especially the Nitro deck, i think you're just grasping at straws to not like it lol. Which is fine, but totally unnecessary to post about every other day, you do you. You're probably making more money doing this than i am building stuff.

For the 4 back buttons - Pokemon Arceus. Unnecessary? - Yes. Do I want all controllers to have 4 backbuttons now? - YES.

You ever reach a point after your 300th cup of coffee that the world comes to a stop and for one brief shining moment, you've ascended to a higher plane of existence?

Good vid, I bought the Nitro Deck and I’m going to return it solely because of the right thumb stick. I only played handheld so I liked the idea of having a grip that makes the switch a unibody design. If the button layout was similar to the hori joycons I would love the nitro deck.

  • @ghosttiee9212

    I hope the switch 2 doesn’t happen

  • @RyguyAlpha

Surprised you didn’t look at another slip in controller; the Nexigo Gripcon. That sports Hall effect sticks too and has back buttons.

This is a great video! I picked up the SNES themed Nitro Deck, I find it comfortable yet uncomfortable at the same time. It depends on the game, Streets of Rage 4, Double Dragon Gaiden it is great but Enter the Gungeon and other similar games, it just doesn’t feel good. This is my experience at least. I am back to the split pad compact full time.

Thanks for reviewing these in detail. I was on the fence but now I know they’re not for me. I really dislike the bulky look and feel

  • @VeryNijsMan

I've had one of the retroflag predecessor models. It was absolutely awful. I really can't find any bone and muscle in myself to get another one of those cheap china controller solutions. Belongs in the trash.

You ever reach a point where mid review you start mixing a coffee concoction like a warlock in his cauldron…

  • @laurensHD

I always love the production value of your videos. The coffee-making this time was a nice cherry on top.

I found that using the extra buttons on the Nitro Deck for the face buttons are a great way to keep my thumb from needing to switch between those and the thumbstick. I've gotten used to the positioning and its not really an issue for me at this point, I really enjoy the study feel of the design. I've played games like monster hunter and BOTW and have good use cases for the extra buttons.

Hi there, saw your video and it actually was informative but had just one question about the product. The right side rail joycon of my switch got messed up and will hardly will read unless separated from the switch or if I use a wireless gamepad controller. Would this work on it as an alternative? Like does it read it via the usb or the rails on the switch itself? Don't mind using my system as a Switch lite if that's the case. Hopefully it connects via the usb instead of the rail connector.

Really glad I stumbled upon your videos. Love the casual mood of it, like you’re just chatting with a friend as they go about their day. Just bought the Retroflag recently and I’m really digging it. Perfect for my use case and makes playing the Switch handheld all the more enjoyable.

  • @cooolpotato

After owning the steam deck I've become a biiiiig back button guy. And tbh, there's no going back for me atm.

  • @Sojourner_Tyson

Brother this video is near perfect. Great work 💪

  • @feraldrgn

Something to consider mapping to the back buttons are the joystick buttons.

  • @SoulStereoMAYN

I most likely wouldn't use all 4 back buttons, but the nice thing with the nitro deck vs something like the hori split pad pro etc, is that you can map any input to any back button. on the hori's you can only map a button thats on the same side i.e. a b x y can only be on the right controller's back button and not the left. This ends up making the left controller's back button kinda useless, since they are mainly great to use as a substitute for the face buttons. So while I wouldn't realistically use all 4, I would most likely use 2, and to have 2 that are limitless is nice.

  • @RockdownPlus

I love the nitro-deck. It's fantastic. It actually made me want to play the Switch even more!😃😃😃😃😃😃

  • @ihad2reload

Retroflag is niiiice. It feels absolutely perfect and looks sick. Wish it had analog triggers and worked with Android without root. That's way out of scope though. If it weren't for that, I'd never remove the switch from it
