Polyrhythms, An original composition for hammered dulcimer

  • I was messing around with polyrhythms and I came up with this little exercise/song. I don’t know why but I like the really simple chord progression (just a minor and G) with the more complex rhythm. The rhythm obviously isn’t anywhere near to perfect but I thought I might as well make this anyway. Today (the Fourth of July) also marks one year of me playing my dulcimer. I think it’s fun to look back and see how much I have improved. If any one reads this, thanks!

      Thank you, it took quite a lot of practice. There are lots of people that are better than me at it though, CZcams is an amazing place.

      @@KylerHD It usually helps me to think of the 5 as the backbone and just remember the last two 3s are swung, falling on off beat triplets. The first coming right before, and the next coming right after one of the 5s. That must be difficult to do since the 3s are the backbone of this piece. Its hard to feel 5 in reference to 3.

      @KylerHD  Před 29 dny

      @memejones7511 thank you for the advice. I almost left the 5 3 out because it was so difficult to focus on the three as the center. I ended up thinking of the fives as the center in the end though. Thank you, I appreciate it!
