Tom is like the first cool guy who did yoga and made everyone else think “maybe I can”. I just looked at my wife’s eye masks on her nightstand and thought “maybe” then I saw my grandfathers picture and the disapproval on his face and I said “yes sir” and laughed lol

Let me tell you something. I didn't start wearing a sleep mask until recently when my husband, who's white, gave me his old sleep mask when he bought a new one. I, as a black woman, was taught to tough it out through everything, including being able to sleep WHENEVER or HOWEVER. The sleep mask really did it's thing & I be sleeping great when I wear it. I don't always use it, cause I gotta keep the culture alive somehow, but when I do..I be SHLUMP!😴😪😂😂

I’ve worked 3rd shift for 14 years now. I just started wearing an eye mask this past year. I love it. Wish I would of gotten one years ago.

@@gorangalic7205 i've done it for 17.. cement industry and i fucking love it. can't stand waking up to an alarm.. only a crew of 6 on at night.. we are away from all the daytime management bullshit.. extra couple dollars an hour.. 4 days off then 4 night shifts in a row 5p to 5a.. 4on 4off repeat weekends and holidays included just 4on 4off repeat. when there's somethin i wanna do like a concert, game etc i just use a vaca day.. no biggie.. ZERO problems with sleep.. summer or winter. oh and no traffic issues too.. my kid is grown now so family life isn't an issue. going to days would suck to me
Wearing a cold sleep mask was a game changer for me, it used to take me at least an hour to fall asleep, now I'm out in under 10 minutes
I use a sleep mask, breathe right strip, chilipad, and mouth tape. I sleep with my entire head end of my bed, elevated 4 inches. And i use blueblockers every night after sunset. Never bring a phone to bed either. And I sleep like a fucking champ.
A gel eye mask pulled from the fridge when I have a migraine is a life saver. I can’t recover without one
The fact that a product that costs under 100$ and improves your quality of life is considered bougie is real crazy just like putting your clothes on after a shower without drying off first. There is no logic and is way easier to justify than thousands of purchases we've all made.
I like covering my eyes when I sleep but I haven't found a sleep mask that I like I actually do the T-shirt thing more often

I have an eye mask with blue tooth speakers and fall asleep to music or podcasts. It's 100% the way to go.

I totally get where Christine is coming from. I just couldn’t take that leap and wear an eye mask for years because I thought it was pretentious and precious. And then when I finally did it was a game changer. I had no idea that I was getting such terrible sleep for years because of stupid artificial street light coming into my windows. Then I started getting obsessed with “sleep hygiene” and leaned into the bougie-ness of it all 😂
Now I have a few sleep eye masks, super soft sound blocking sleep ear plugs, a cooling comforter, and I have ocean sounds going all night long on a dedicated iPad just in case there’s a “sound leak.” Memory foam mattress with pillow topper are part of the equation. Oh and blackout curtains of course. Then there’s my vibrating wrist alarm in case I’m so cozy I don’t stop sleeping.
I think part of it all is Princess and the Pea complex, the belief that only a princess has trouble sleeping due to minor inconveniences. I do miss the days when I was in my 20s and could fall asleep on a subway (or some strangers couch) after a night out partying.

I swore I’d never be tht guy but goddamn I’m older and here I am being tht guy. Everyday is a blessing when u are tht talented and get rich from playing a team sport. Kyrie Irving’s interest in being a “team player” is at best 9th or 10th on his lists of importance. I have never been a Stephen A. fan, but I am completely in agreement with him here. I like turning on white noise and putting a red light under my eye mask after eating a couple edibles so I can trip balls. Taking that mask off in the morning feels like coming out of a womb
I don’t like the tightness of eye masks so I drape the sleeve of a long sleeve t shirt over my eyes. I almost can’t sleep without my eyes covered. My girlfriends the same way. She however has to sleep with the tv on. I can’t do that. But I can’t sleep in complete silence either. I need some kind of fan blowing or I’ll wake up every 20 minutes. Yep, I’m weird and I’m cool with it.
I won't wear an eye mask unless it comes with a plain ticket... lol seems a little more expensive, but who knows, she takes plane rides just to get the mask, lol

Do you mean blackout curtains? Blinds aren’t sufficient and only hide your indoor activities from people looking in. They don’t block light. Ever heard of these things called cities? Cities are these places where there are tall buildings, lots of nighttime activities (like comedy clubs) and street lamps. I just moved out of a place downtown (SF) where there was a street light right there at the same level as our bedroom window. The blinds that the landlords installed weren’t blocking diddly. I didn’t sleep for the first week and a half until we were able to get blackout curtains. Even then the blackout curtains didn’t block light leaks on the top and sides because the window was a bay window and couldn’t get the drapery rods that wrap around that fit this oddly shaped window. So I started using a sleep eye mask and it was a game changer. People who travel use them because you can’t go around changing the drapery in every cheap motel they put you up in.
There’s also people who work evening shifts (like comedians) and need to sleep in the next morning.

@@teledoink Call them whatever you want, I also work nights and sleep from 7am-3pm daily my heavy ass curtains block the light from my wall sized glass sliding doors leading out to my balcony idk man I just googled blackout curtains and my local store has them for $20-$120 pick up today.
Or use eye masks, I don't give a fuck, it's just weird to hear a whole podcast talk about it like light is this unrelenting force
