- Weapon reskins in TF2 have always seemed like a strange case to me. On one hand, if you understand the meme, it's nice to have a funny video to watch. But on the other hand, the weapon reskins meme is dumb and I don't know why or how it became a thing, and a lot of people probably think I'm a loony for continuing to quote it. Memes aside, I like both my audience and TF2's selection of reskins, so another video on them was absolutely necessary. This time, I'm looking at each one and determining whether it's better than stock. This is entirely preferential, but this is also my video and I do what I want, so while your opinion is welcome it's also objectively wrong in every way possible if you disagree with me.

The lack of strange weapon reskin cases in TF2 has always seemed like a strange case to me.

Most of the reason why not is probably copyright issues. That said, I would absolutely love a "Clearance Mann Co Crate" that carries a few stranges that are either practically unboxable these days (like the Kritzkrieg) and a handful of stranges that don't exist yet. I want a Strange Thermal Thruster, Hot Hand, Sun on a Stick, Sharpened Volcano Fragment, etc... and lets not pretend this is going to take effort or anything.

Total coincidence with the spy's counters being nerfed, a selection of weapons to make the stealth glass cannon basically invincible, and nothing ever being done about facestabbing.

Fun fact, the holy mackerel is a direct upgrade to Scouts stock melee. This is because if you hit a spy with it and he dead ringers, it doesnt display as a fish kill, and only shows the picture of the fish.
Don't use the tactic much though because raging spies will accuse you of hacking

Actually, you can’t do taunt kills with it, so it’s not a direct upgrade.

You did not mention the fact that the Huntsman is a direct upgrade to its counterpart Fortified Compound, as if you have the cosmetic set equipped it can reduce the chance of hunger by up to 13%, a stat the Compound does not have.

@FuzzyFlawed14 there are like 150+ weapons, including festives and reskin i will need a lot to pour to have every single strange, don't even get me started on stranges like the kritzkrieg or the original

Its just that, with the sound the pan makes, it feels like it would crit every time.

I respect the Ap Sap choice, but my favourite of the three Sappers has to be the Snack Attack.
It's just the way it saps stuff is so funny to me, seeing half the breadmonster sticking out of the building, wiggling around while cogs and metal are flying everywhere always fills me with joy.
I switch between the Ap-Sap and the Snack Attack all the time. Wheatley’s voice is nice, and the snack attack is funny.
I easily get lonely, so I like to pull out Wheatley whenever possible.

The Prinny machete is always one of the funnier things for me. because it's such a big, meaty weapon and yet you can backstab with it.
Its really good on spy to practice timing trickstabs because it doesn't have the knife raise animation.

Technically, the Engineer has one more reskin in the Pip-Boy for his PDA, and yes, this absolutely counts because the PDA can be strange while the Pip-Boy has no strange variant but effectively changes the appearance of the PDA UI.
I don’t get the hype around the Pip-boy besides being a Fallout item. I bought it and rarely use it, and I play Engi pretty commonly.

The name is a reference to both the geiger counter tool and to the surrealist artist HR Giger, who's most known for designing the creature from the Alien movies. The reskin itself is even based on the motion tracker from the films. While many people tend to say guy-gur when referencing the artist, the pronunciation is indeed different.

Ham Shank has always been my favourite after getting a Genuine one traded and decided to name it “I have a Ham to kill everyone you Meat” plus you could theoretically eat it if you’re hungry while on the battlefield

I think I prefer the napalmer over the stock flamethrower. Even though it's an Alien reference, it reminds me of the aesthetic of post apocalypse games which is a look I really dig.
The Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker actually does have a strangifier, although you could only obtain it by opening certain crates during the Halloween event of 2014 I believe. This also makes them pretty damn expensive to get nowadays.

Personally I use the Iron Curtain more. Something about it just looks better than stock. The lugermorph is also amazing even though it does feel funky to use. Black Rose is just something to giggle over because it's so pretty. I hope to get pro ks kits for the things, I use em all the time

On the topic of Strangeifiers, I think we need a better way to obtain them in general.
Right now I don't even think they are obtainable at all, and if there is a way then I'm completely oblivious to it.
IMO it's time for a MvM update that adds new Missions to the game, increases the pool of Australiums available and gets a new sidegrade Mission to Two Cities that drops Strange parts & Chemistry Sets rather than Killstreak Kit Fabricators.
I mean you can effectively make weapons strange with Stat Clocks
unfortunately there will probably never be something that drops chemistry sets

I have collected all of the reskins for a bit now. The only ones I’m missing are the fish cake, maul, memory maker/saxxy, and the apsap. They make so much more of a difference on my gameplay than cosmetics and that’s what I love so much about them.
You can get the maul on backpack.tf for less than 5 ref
I like using the crossing gaurd because I can more accurately tell if people are in my melee distance compared to something like the bottle. I swear you can miss by a fair amount with the bottle and still hit.
I like the crossing guard because I have one named "Choo Choo Motherfucker" and I think it's funny. That being said I REALLY wish it could be used by Engineer. He has a bunch of train themed cosmetics already so it's not fair that he's one of two classes unable to use train themed weapon.

a situation so niche I have yet to actually capitalize on it in my 5000+ hours in tf2.

The Black Rose is legitimately the only reason I started playing with stock on Spy so it is absolutely in my top three, if not number one.

But on the other hand, not every Mario 64 reference is necessarily more well-known than the reference it's replacing, so sometimes there's no point in even making 'em.

Personal favorite reskin is the Nostro Napalmer. It's just a cleaner look.

6:41 it’s funny, my fov isn’t super large or anything, but it means that the head taker doesn’t take up that much room in my view.
My biggest hope would be for valve to make the black rose unlockable through that game it promoted again in a future update
AVA is *dead* dead, it would be easier to make it craftable or something because the game it was promoting is never coming back.

I do know that back when I played all the time, I used to get kicked from matches because I'd only use the holy macular because I loved hitting people with a fish.

Prinny machete looks so based on spy. The way he holds it paired with the right cosmetics can be Intimidating. Cosmetics I use are the bandanas and a night vision goggles hat, I forgot which one

The original is also quieter than stock sometimes, technically it’s the same volume but it only has lower frequencies so if your headphones aren’t sensitive to bass it’s effectively quieter. It’s basically an upgrade

Regarding the Wee Booties and Bootlegger, I personally prefer the Bootlegger since the demo pants I use have their own shoe models and the Bootlegger doesn't clash much at all as opposed to the tips of the wee booties clipping through everything

Personally my favorite reskins come from war paints. Especially for Heavy. Autumn Mk II Family Business used for fat scout with Professor Speks, Dead of Night (Dark), and Eliminator's Safeguard (visor up). Makes you look (and feel) like riot police.

idk if you excluded it due to rarity, but what about the saxxy, I mean you included the memory maker which is only slightly more common

I think the memory maker is included solely because you can have it unlocked for you through achievement servers (the same ones that give you the necro smasher, frontline field recorder, director's vision taunt etc). So a lot more people than you'd expect have access to it. Including me.

That got me pretty good. I love the weapon but I do get your point about the screen blocking. And damn I love the wrangler resting but I don't think I've ever actually seen someone use it before, which I assume is because it's expensive or something. Only thing about it I don't like is that it's just a big box basically, and the default wrangler has a cool solar panel on it so it's not bad

Personally, I would love it if promo reskins got strange variants and strangifiers.
Stock could have simple stats like extra ammo added for no random crits(stock scattergun and grenade launcher get two, rocket launcher, sticky launcher and shotgun get one extra shot), medic primary and melee should have alt fire that does burst healing as a start to give some features to the stock.
Valve comp could drop strangerifers, killstreaks, even older collection item drops.

completely removing random crits from stocks would make them absolutely shit and one extra ammo does not make up for that at all, It, AND it would make them way more op on servers that have crits disabled by default, making every other weapon basically useless, stock medigun is also the best medigun already. thank god you dont work at valve. I agree comp should actually drop items though. Maybe people would actually play it
@@dcp0102 You misunderstand, plus I probably explained it poorly so I don't put in a whole ass book in the comments section.
My idea for STOCK with more ammo where appropriate is "you load more ammo, but have random crits disabled until you spend it all and do a normal reload" and yes with no random crits servers that might be OP. However, I want only stock to have that function, as well as where appropriate alt fires like for a obvious example of Scattergun, alt fire switches to and from a two shot mode(no random crits, -10% damage and 50% knockback for what is basically mini Force a Nature as a mode, but you can go two shot switch to normal shot and finish them off. or use the Two shot mode for air dodge tactics. you cannot use two shot mode with extra load, same for stock shotgun(which is more of a burst shot)).
A good thing that you mentioned Medics wonderful stock medigun. the Medic Meta is such that the crossbow and ubersaw are most effective, think of it like if stock medigun had no uber and other mediguns did, not very good idea right? Medic primaries and melees need some alt fire that does bust healing, simply give syringe guns and crossbow types what is basically a sandvich(medium heath pack, 30 second cooldown, cannot throw it and pick it up to self heal, when at full health can pick up map health pack to replenish the med pack, gives 5% uber on heal) to throw on alt fire, while the melees get a injector syringe in the left hand that is a melee ranged sort of 20% health on hit that could give extra health and when on it's 15 second cooldown, you have a 25 damage plus 33% faster swing speed no random crits melee that on stock bonesaw gives 5% uber as a upside.
stock melees could have a simple "third hit does XYZ", "alt fire does a wind up for minicrit damage" or for the Heavy "on kill: 5 seconds of speed boost" plus a new core class passive I call Rushing Slav for the Heavy that makes it so that with his main damage dealer holstered he is 15% faster with his other slots and it stacks with speed boosts as the new base speed on secondary and melee slots.

(this is a year late, but) I assume that it's a bootlegger/wee booties situation where either the Holy Mackerel or the Unarmed Combat could be the Reskin, but the Unarmed Combat is more of a Reskin than the Mackerel (especially since the fish is a set item).

Correction at 11:25 ; The game in question was not ARMA, but rather, a free to play shooter game called "Alliance of Valiant Arms" (A.V.A). The black rose was a promotional item that was in TF2 that was also in the game itself (Iirc you got it for free if you also played TF2). The game shut down in June 29, 2018, so as of now, the black rose is essentially a rare item only TF2 veterans kind of have now. The fact its also marked as an untradeable achievement item makes it so newer players will never have a chance to get this. unless they somehow get their hands on a tradeable one, which, god damn good luck.
I've used a kill streak Nine Iron for years in the hopes of a strangifier, and damn it that hope won't die.

You can still get the black rose by using S.A.M on Alliance of Valiant Arms. I haven't used it in a while but there shouldn't be a problem if you give yourself only one achievement that it requires which is 1st One Down.
