It’s also sensible. Sometimes people have talent and they’re never told by someone that’s credible. Tracking balls and having a good arm is easy to spot if you’re trained. Granted, he probably has no batting skills at that level and would be lucky to bat 0.050 but he had 2 good tools at his disposal which nets you a look.

It’s definitely very cool but it’s not like he made the team after that, he played one game, for free. That’s not a big enough payoff for a tv series. I mean, so the story is he loves and plays baseball his whole life and always gives it his all. He tries out for the team, doesn’t make it, but keeps at it, never gives up, and becomes their ballboy. Then, after 10 years he gets to play in one game. He kills it and plays great, and the next day he goes back to being a ballboy the rest of his life. Idk man.

I think a short is good enough. I mean it's awesome and glad he got that ring and all that, but why? A movie needs conflict.
Hollywood would shoehorn some family drama, racial political BS, or create some life story about how he promise his grand mommy he would play for the Dodgers and she sees him in the game and cheers him on before passing on into the great beyond with the Virgin Mary herself embracing her tightly to her bosom.
It was an intrasquad game... Again not hating and a cool story but let us not get ahead of ourselves - It would've been awesome if he got to go further honestly.

The best kind of stories tbh. There was one about the Washington jets I think? A hockey goalie was sick and the backup wasn't around, a maintenence personall was a goalie but he hadn't played in like 20 years. They threw him in net and he went like 30 or 40- 10. An otherwise outstanding performance than acutely managed to win the game
