I had 3 major problems to deal with on this job today. We're pouring a 40' x 28' basement floor. They'll be setting up a double-wide home on this foundation in a couple days.
We had to get the floor poured and finished today! In the video, I explain the types of problems we had on this job and how we handled them.
When you're in the construction trade, there's usually always something to deal with on a daily basis. Maybe it's the weather, or maybe somebody didn't do what they said they would do. I can assure you, there's usually something! Today we had 3 big problems. Could we work it out and still get the job done?

That would be a tough job with 2 guys. You two made it look easy. Nice work.
Thanks 👍
I've been in construction my whole life 50 years and its always something every day but it's always nice when your customers are understanding
Finding and keeping help is my biggest problem!!
When you run your own business, you do what you gotta do. Way to get it done fellas.
Excellent job. You both persevered!
Hi Mike, You need to give Eric $100 bonus for doing the work of 2 men today. (And give yourself a pat on the back too!!)
He should give himself another hundred too ATLEAST
Seems weird your two main guys call in same day must be that 24 hr brown bag flu going around or maybe they had a side hustle.
@@pitbull4029they both pulled a heart muscle probably. I think iv had maybe 5 sick days off in 18 years of concreting. Work has to happen no matter what. If you take a sickie you really let the team down.
@@pitbull4029probably..a smaller patio, steps, something paying better than a day working for this guy..not saying he under pays or nothing bad, they probably got a couple grand job from a friend or something.
2 Man Crew..!!! You guys did a great job Mike’ 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I was amazed about how much you poured before screeding or striking it off. Good grade eyes you both have. Excellent.
This is called “Sucking it up” where I come from. Thank God not too many times, and each time but one the boss/owner showed appreciation! Good job you guys!😀👍
Nice job Mike, and great insight on this job description. So true what you said about never having things go 💯 % for a whole week. Never gonna happen. 😅💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Top job Mike nobody like hard days but concrete waits for nobody solid effort
Nice work Mike
Thanks 👍
Good job men no whining or crying just get it done
Heroic effort!
well done guys!
Great job guys!!!!
Nice job guys
Hope you show the finishing
You guys are amazing
Yep, ya got it done! Nice job guys!
I still pour concrete but when I was younger. I could do 10 yd by myself with a power trowel. Now I'm an old man.
Good work
Thanks
You and Eric flew through that basement. Great video.
Another wicked good job. Looked like two fellas was the trick.
Nice work. Nice thing about only 2 guys is more profit, lol.
Better get some fans under that house or it’s gonna grow mold. At least for 30 days or so until the concrete dehydrates some.
I wonder if someone had come up with a useable battery power trowel for (smaller) confined spaces - so no fumes.
Two guys is possible but not preferable. What matters is that you care. Like Victory Outdoors says "Easy Money"
Mike, great work as always.
You mentioned poly under the slab. Do you always recommend poly under basement & garage slab?
Also, for a concrete porch w/ concrete walls w/ frost ftg in MN, my excavator said to Not pack the subgrade as it will allow wiggle room for frost heaving. I've never heard this and am Very sleptical. Thoughts?
let me guess, Eric is going to be back teaching real soon and the boys both realised this at the same time and weirdly decided on the same morning to get the day off in before Eric is gone till next holidays.
We pour 95% of the time with just 2 of us. And that's buggying everything. If we have a belt or a pump 2 of us can knock out 100 yards at a time. Not ideal but you do what you gotta do. At 53 I can't do it everyday but on occasion it feels good to act like a young guy
Hello Mike how did you get into the foundation with it up that high
Thanks for the great video as always. If I may have a question a bit off topic as I believe your slabs does not blister, any way how would you recommend repairing blisters and rough corners with low spots on power troweled floor which is to be epoxy coated?
I'd use a product called Quik Fix from deco-cretesupply.com
Any vapor barrier under the pour?
No vapor barrier under the floor?
You two kicked ass!!
good employes come in.
I have been pouring just 2 guys for many years setting grade pins really helps keep things moving without lot's of guys. Done lots of 50 plus yard pours just 2 guys.
👏👏👏💚
U guys r good. I wish that I could talk to you. I have some questions for you. I am doing the same work I just started. But I would love to talk to you. Tim Ohio.
How thick is that slab looks like 2.5”
It's 4". He says towards the end of the video that it's 40' x 28', multiple that by .33' and then divide by 27 to get the yardage, which he said was @ 14 yards. Works out to a 4" slab. Hope that helps.
Daren n luke out hunting today
Hello Mike how did y'all get into the foundation when it's up that high
First! :D
It really shows the importance of employees. Yeah, two guys can do it, but all day every day? Heck no, your bodies would be worn out by the end of the week.
We all know you have to have a vapor barrier. Funny how non concrete guys think they know everything
Why don't your basements have egress window openings?
@iowamatt2519 Mike doesn't do Foundations so it's not on him or vapor barrier he said he was hired to just pour and finish that's all.
@@74stevedc I know it's not on Mike, just saying that we all know it should have it. Some architect or engineer didn't spec it because he thinks he knows better
