Let's go Lala! His older brother (the guy with the glasses speaking to her) is actually my friend and that entire day was an adventure. Many thanks to Atheen who's the one who got her on-stream and got her to meet Jmook and Cody. I spent that entire evening translating for her (we're all from Montréal) and it was really fun to do it! Also Hungrybox even recognized her while we were walking around!
jmook better impart some skills so lala can enter the god pathneon
sorry to intrude but what do you mean that hbox recognized her? I am asking because my sister is also a melee player and around the same age as Lala and my sister at one point made fanart for Hbox which he retweeted. I hope that Hbox didn't confuse Lala and my sister haha
@@icegod4849 No Hbox didn't confuse the two. He came up to us as we were walking around the venue and talked to her cuz he recognized her as Lala.
Awesome! I hope to see new young faces and even girls/women. We need more of their representation, and not because of diversity purposes but because it is sad to see only men... I wish this was a more enjoyable thing for women as well. They just need to be (positively) encouraged more, I think. To learn to fuel their flame and passion for the game and tournaments. I hope to see her more.
@@MrFreakHeavyI just wish to have more than a sausage fest in every tourney ever lol
She's playing a game that's twice her age, she is very inspiring to someone who hasn't picked up melee in 15 years. I hope she goes far if she wants
100% fake. Gamestop did this fake type event where a skilled Smash Brothers gamer was playing off screen in a room while LaLa smashed random buttons. Try to find more videos of LaLa doing this. You can't. This is 100% fake and many here are suckers buying into this ruse.
@@trubenstudios4063 What is blud yapping about?
u sound like a trumpster lol@@SomeSunGuy
@@trubenstudios4063 she got 3 stocked twice? this seems like what would happen if you gave the controller to someone who probably has played a bit of ultimate casually, what do you mean this is fake? there's no other clips of her playing because this was probably the only tournament she has ever been to.
@@PowerOf47 OMG. Dude. U are watching one heavily edited short form video. If this girl is who she is, why can you NOT find any out clip with her? Social media, youtube channel, personal story about her. Oh, I know why: it's fake. I was at GAMESTOP, HOllywood, when this SAME girl was used for a fake SMASH GAME video. With long cables going to the back stock room. And she was randomly mashing buttons. And I said out loud, "she is not playing. Follow the cables". There were trying to nudge me out but I fought back. And the asked me to please not tell anyone, it's a gag for a channel.
So, you keep being a sucker. That cant even show us ONE additional video of the same girl in her real world doing this. She was used as a promotional video to bring exposure to a social media site. And you are a sucker for buying into it.
I want this girl to become the best Melee player so bad
Cant wait to see lala in winners top 32 at big house 17
(as someone outside this competitive community until this video) this feels like a randomly generated sentence lol
@RealRedRabbit Not sure what ratio of serious-to-joke your comment is, so just in case there's actually something you're unsure of, I can explain the sentence:
Melee tournaments use double elimination brackets, so you aren't out of the tournament unless you lose two matches. A result if this is that the bracket has two sections - a winners bracket for everyone currently undefeated and a losers bracket for everyone with a single loss. So winners top 32 means lasting in the tournament long enough that there are only 32 players left, while still being in the winners bracket, and therefore undefeated.
The Big House is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Melee community. It's held annually, and almost always has most of the best players in the world in attendance. It's also just frickin... massive. It consistently gets around 1,000 entrants into the tournament. The Big House 11 just happened, so 17 would be in 6 years time.
It would be upsetting, I'd bet, if this girl makes it to the final bracket and faces aMSa.
And WINS.
You know MKLeo started competitive smash at a very young age just like Lala. It all started with him beating the best player at the time in brawl and look where he is now.
6:39 "Am I really sweating versus someone who is younger than the SEQUEL to this game?!"
Lala might unironically become a smash star, and honestly hope she does!
Kids in smash!! So excited to watch new players come up
They just better watch out for the smash community though

Nice job Ranny. First Death Note and now this.
It's so great to see somebody have the courage to compete against people twice your age that have likely been playing this game your entire life. If you're here Lala, great job!
The jmook scout kills me! Huge prips to lala for having the courage to play on stream. Hope lala continues with melee. Props to Ranny too he played how you should play against a kid. Dont embarass them, but also let them know they have room to improve.
Love her emulation of a dash dance. You can tell she's done her homework, she'll be at the top in no time! 😊
If she knew how OP Sheik's f-air is she would've won
my goat .
Kudos to you Lala, that was amazing !
We need an analysis of her gameplay to make her improve!
Let's go Lala! Smash Québec est avec toi!
This is just one of the many reasons I love Melee tournaments.
I ranked highly in melee tournaments back in college, but I think she would have still kicked my butt. Imagine after a few more years she'll probably be one of the new 5 gods.
This is awesome to see. Regardless of the outcome, I think it's such a great thing to do as a young person to build character (as cliché as that sounds). Hope to see more from Lala!
I'm already a hardcore Lala fan!
Love the Melee community! Always welcoming to all!
Let's Go Lala!
Watching this video gave me hope. I hope Lala continues playing!
Always fun to see young newcomers like this on-stage. Grats on two of what might be many more stocks in your future!
her play style kind of reminds me of Borp
Let’s go Lala! Keep up the great work!
You do not get more wholesome than 7:00 , we can fight about it behind the mall's dumpsters.
Clear undeniable evidence that even with perfect execution Shiek just isnt viable at the top level of smash. Wait til you see her Fox.
3:28 hey idk what player are referring to here. can someone explain that to me?
It's become a meme that Jmook always has perfect posture
Never give up, Lala!
Bro, the fact that this little girl was taking stocks from a seasoned player??? She's got _serious_ talent!
Sakura would like Lala player because he already said he want this game to be a family game that everyone can play and Lala just prove it
Lala posture thoooio
LETS GO LALA
I hope you stick at Melee, Lala, you could become amazing
This is the most random and amazing game ever 😂
The pressure hurt her. What a goat though.
It's wild to see someone taking a stock off a player that's been playing literally twice as long as they've been alive. Hope Nintendo doesn't kill this scene. And God, I hope they protect this child.
Good job Lala!
edge guarding a little girl dam
Lala's my goat
Lala! Lala! Lala!
holy guacamole if she goes to evo she would win no sweat
Lala is cute!
She's CUTE!
*CUTE!*
Lala >>>>> 5 gods
that’s nothing when i was 11 i got 7 kills in cruel smash 🤨
Who asked
And now?
Any melee accomplishments since then 🤔?
You want a medal or some shit pal?
Lala solo
should have lost more stocks on purpose, imagine being a kids ass in a video game when the whole crowd was cheering for them
its a tournament, as much as it does hurt to see a kid lose, she clearly has a passion, a passion that considering her age WILL grow.
There are a few reasons I disagree.
First (and LEAST importantly), this is a competitive tournament that Ranmy entered. It would be disrespecting the spirit of the event to intentionally underperform.
But for Lala specifically, there also reasons to not underperform. First of all, kids are smart - a lot smarter than people think. They know when you're just being nice to them and when you are actually trying to win. If Ranny let himself lose more stocks, Lala would pick up on that. And then she would have no way to know which stocks she actually *earned* and which Ranny let her take. Whereas here, she knows exactly what she achieved and what to be proud of. Sure, the match wasn't close, but she at least has stocks that she can concretely point to and say she EARNED in this match.
Additionally, it provides more direct feedback of what she needs to improve on. I don't know how seriously she takes this game, but if she plans to continue trying to get better, it's much more valuable to have someone punish her mistakes so she can work on fixing them in the future.
Final point: actually trying against your opponent is a sign of respect for their ability, or at least for their potential.
I'm not saying you should go all out to *destroy* a kid's confidence and motivation to play by going full tryhard - you don't need to do that to avoid going easy on them.
Should've let her win!
Nah, she gotta learn. And it's more disrespectful to look down on a fellow competitor like that.
Why? You think she can't improve and win on her own? Don't let kids win, teach them how to win.
I think the melee scene could use a wholesome let the kid win moment in a big comp. It's just a pools game after all. It would probably go viral and boost the scene.
@@vgrepairs My BFF from high school has a daughter, and a couple of years ago she (being 10) became the Chilean champion of her karate discipline. So she and her dad went to México, because the Japanese school that imparts her particular karate discipline world-wide organized a tournament for Hispanic American dojos, and it was held in México. But the thing is, Chileans are taller than most other Hispanics, and this girl is taller than the average Chilean her age. So she had a clear advantage. So much so, that when she was in the finals it was decided that she'd face girls in the 12-year-old division instead of her own. Honestly, it was a good call because with her advantage, to allow her to fight girls her own age would have been unfair for all the others. Even so, she won second place. Even though she would have gotten first place easily fighting girls her own age, she didn't complain. She wasn't bitter or angry, she undertood that a decision was made and she respected it. She wasn't just given a victory, quite the opposite, she was placed on a disadvantage, and you know what happened? She learned more about sportsmanship that way than if she had won.
So, no. I don't agree that kids should be allowed to win. They should be taught how to grow, instead.
@@maxxam3590 Don't act like flying out to a martial arts championship tournament in another country is the same as a 22 year old Nintendo game at the bottom of a mid tier tournament.
100% fake. Gamestop did this fake type event where a skilled Smash Brothers gamer was playing off screen in a room while LaLa smashed random buttons. Try to find more videos of LaLa doing this. You can't. This is 100% fake and many here are suckers buying into this ruse.
keep her away from the other smash players, i beg of you
Holy frick, the comment section it's just scaring away female players on purpose all while being indirect. What is up with you sick trolls?!💀
Come on man give it to the kid tbh, not like ur winning the tournament
No, this is good for her. Losing to a kid on purpose, someone who is trying, is not cool. Sure, the kid would love to win, but you cant just let the kid win just cause they are a kid. They are smart too, they know when you are losing on purpose. I say, instead of losing to her, invite her to practice. Show her to all the other players and have her learn from them. She's gonna learn a lot more from losing than from wining, but she has to learn that losing is not bad and that having fun while learning is what matters. She must be encouraged to get better if she likes the game, that's how legends are formed, when they love playing, want to get better, and every loss is only more fuel to their flame! Let's go, Lala, don't ever give up. The road to the top is always hard.
@@MrFreakHeavygreat explanation
bro got ratioed
@@MrFreakHeavy If you win the set, you're a jerk who won against an 8 year old. If you lose on purpose you take an L in game but it's obviously way nicer and more noble. It's a lose lose for the adult here no matter what, and that's how it SHOULD be in a tournament for an old gamecube game and where the Yoshi is doomed to lose anyway
you're treating the kid like an adult. That's dumb. They're so young. Just give them a good time. At least a closer set.
Unless you're Zain or similar level, it's hella loser-behavior to take a game like Melee so seriously that it must be treated with the competitiveness of the NBA...it's not a big deal and your pride is dumb
bright future, i love this
LETS GO LALA
