- We taped these guys a couple different ways for you. I feel like the tape measure is saying they weigh more than they should. So check this out and tell us if you think they weigh what the tape measure says or if you think something different!

My 10 month old jersey steers are 655 and 520 for the 2 I measured. One was born 1st of the month and the other born towards the end of the month. Your biggest one looks bigger than my 655 lb steer so you might be spot on
What a cute family! I love the 2 different socks.... my granddaughters do that too! It must be a style thing.
Lol yes it must be 😂
I seen a jersey about your size weight about 500s in a auction. I also have one your size thinking my is around that weight too.
Tall look spot on to me. The one looks more full so a higher weight would be expected. Keep up the great work, the cows look happy and healthy.
Thank you!
"Stop that, we're on camera!" Bwahahaha!! Too too funny!
LOL they crack me up!
I miss my animals...I really enjoyed watching you both today.
Thank you so much!
loving your videos! you guys are kinda funny love your farm wish i had it lol
Thank you so much!
We have a holstein angus cross steer that built bone before really putting on muscle.
Oh thank you!!
IDK IF you have one of those in the freezer yet....but if u do how much meet did you get
Thanks for stopping by!! Hanging weight on the one we kept for ourselves was 681. The other 2 were like 640 and 600 I believe.
@@PrattFamilyHomestead I was curious about this also. Is hanging weight gutted? or whole? Thank you!
@@secretjourney4815 Hanging weight is gutted, no head, no feet, no tail. Seems like I'm missing something but that's the basics.
@@PrattFamilyHomestead thanks!
Love the cows/steers !!! Your family is adorable. Is there anyway to get a portable scale from the Vet??
We probably could if we really wanted to. Our vets are great. But obviously we would have to pay for the visit. I wonder if they would charge for us to take one there and get it weighed for fun 😂!
@@PrattFamilyHomestead when we had Belgian pulling horses, we would take them down to our co-OP, grain scales and weigh them. Never a charge and everyone loved when we brought the big boys. Most times 2 horses, but sometimes 4 or 6 horses. It was always an adventure.
@@candacethompson2521 Great idea. I could probably go to our local feed mill.
Totally agree with the measurements...not being correct because of your bread. Have a wonderful day 👍😁
Thank you!
My dream is to have cattle
Great dream to have ..... Now go and make it come true!😁
👍✌️ Awesome.
Thank you!
Mineral oil would help i believe.
Thanks!
1st thing I'd invest in a good tape measure. You will need it in the future and they can't be that expensive. Then I think I'd look for charts for the type of cows you have as that seems like a huge variant to me. Seems like just a little more research is needed is all. I really find the weight thing interesting and wonder just how accurate they are or if it's just a guestimate.
All great ideas! I know when we tape our pigs we are usually pretty close.
I think the measurements were somewhere near accurate. Weight chart is more confusing because some bulls or steers start to pack up meat early on and some don’t.
4 to 500 sounds closer than 700 for a 10 month old jersey. As for the bloated one being smaller may be because of not taking in nutrition as good because of his gut issues. Yall are going to have a lot of beef in the future.
Yes we are! But only 1 of these steers is going in our freezer!
