  • What a coral!!! For beginners and experts, this coral will wow! the crowd everytime they see it. Overall they are very similar to an anemone. The tentacles can sting on the end and they can be fed shrimp right in the center of their mouth! Hope you all enjoy this video. Like and Subscribe! Tell your friends!

    When you mentioned placing them towards the bottom in the sand bed there is more than one reason for that. You are correct that they can really expand and they need a lot of room between them and other corals, but something i've noticed with mine is that the fleshy part of this coral can sometimes be very sensitive, and when mine was up on a rock (still towards the bottom) when it really expanded out it was very irritated when the fleshy part rubbed up against the rock under it, causing it to shrink up. When i put it down on the bottom, and it expanded out, it did not seem to have a problem with the fleshy part rubbing against the sand. These corals love the sand bed.
    ALSO, if you have really strong lights they're going to be more comfortable at the bottom as elegance corals do not require the kind of strong lighting that sps corals require. They will do fine in just about any kind of flow, but they don't require any stronger lighting than your average softie tank would. It's weird saying that about an lps coral, but it's true.

      mogtrader8 Their skin tearing is one you’ll see most common with these. It comes from bad water quality, lighting too high, and too much current. Feeding them weekly and keeping the water healthy tends to keep them very happy.

      @BrockLeonard  Před 4 lety

      Walter R. We have seen clownfish be too aggressive toward corals before. I’ve seen some beat an Anemone up so much that it would stay shrunk up throughout the whole day. Try moving the coral do a different spot so it can open up again.

    • @BrockLeonard
      @BrockLeonard  Před 4 lety

      Karen Nation They can eat meaty things, we tend to feed them shrimp on the side. So I would not be surprised if they caught a snail that got too close. But they aren’t going to go after snails.

    • @scdigby79
      @scdigby79 Před 4 lety +1

      Karen Nation, YES!!! Elegance Corals will eat snails! i used to find shells laying around mine and sometimes on it. i would usually see the shells right after the lights came on, so it was feeding on them at night. It was either eating the snail and then spitting out the empty shell, or it was somehow sucking the meat out of the shell. i haven't actually seen the elegance do it, but i used to see shells around it all the time. i started feeding it a little bit more, and that stopped. But yes, not only do elegance corals eat snails, they somehow have a way of attracting snails to them. lol

      @@karennation3580 The only other person i've heard mention this was Than from Tidal Gardens. • @scdigby79
      @scdigby79 Před 4 lety

      i would not suggest it. These coral's tentacles have a potent sting, but they also have large fleshy parts that might be quite tasty to a fish who likes to nip at, or worse, feed on corals. Either way, an expensive living thing in your tank will be killed.
