- Let's learn about some MUSHROOMS! They tend to call under four different categories being; Discosoma, Rhodactic, Ricordea, or Pseudocorynactic. Mushrooms are great for beginners because they are very hardy and they do not require high end LED lights to take care of them. They live primarily off filter feeding, but can also increase growth by spot feeding them different coral foods.

Again your videos stick to the point, stay on point and points me in the right direction every time.
Thank you so much!
I totally agree before I buy anything I checked to see if he’s done a video on it
Brock has the best resources for fish and coral here on YT to date.
THANK YOU!!!
Hey Brock. Love your videos. I like how you actually take the time to break down many different species and the requirements needed for them. I actually take screenshots and refer back to them. Huge help. Keep em coming! Cheers!
Comment made my day man! Thank you. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Thank you. This is one of the most helpful videos on mushrooms that I have seen.
Glad I could help! and thank you for watching
I love your vids! they have been really helpful in planning my new tank!
Hey man You inspired me to do CZcams content like yours
The mushrooms that I used to have in my 90 gal, looked a lot like the disco reds like what you show, in the video. After I added an in-tank refugium, they all moved to the corner underneath it, because I had metal halide lighting hood. The just preferred the corner where the light wasn't very bright. They also got much larger quickly after they moved.
Brock you are the best! Come back and give us more!!!
So happy you are here!!! making my day :)
These videos are helping me so much pick corals for my tank! Thank you!
Thank you for coming to watch, means a lot
Thanks for the reply on stocking order in my aquarium. Keep up the vids on the corals and fish. One things needed is the price point of the fish or coral please have links of website you are able to the low prices you mentioned. Most the time i dont see anywhere sell at those prices. Idc if they are even out of stock, just hook us up with the links please thanks
That was fantastic. Thank you so much.

So there are underwater mushrooms 🤯🥳.
My botany is kicking in now I can have land and ocean mushrooms I must grow.
Now question how hard do they tend to be to find and can you talk about some expert ones im a very fast learner.
Those are really pretty.
Hey man great video as always. I’m running two aqua knight a029s on a 20 gallon long tank. I’m sure these lights will support just about any coral don’t ya think?
You’ve earned a sub
Will a NICREW saltwater aquarium led light work for mushrooms and GSP? Those are the two coral I’m going to start with on my 55 gallon FOWLR. Any other recommendations if this light is sufficient? Thanks Brock!!
Mushrooms only tanks are cool. Very underrated
Right??? So many colors to choose from.
Brock do you still work in a aquarium, do you sell some of those mushrooms 🍄 I can't find colors like you have seen in your video we don't have the orange or blues in the Midwest. If you sell and ship them let me know I would love to get some .

Already got one out! look up All About Zoas !

had some type of hitchhiking furry mushy
now i have TEN lmao
yay!! haha, thank you so much for watching
Hi Brock, that is a very complete video about mushrooms. Definetly they are one of my favourite corals. I would like to ask you a question. I hace a green rodactis and very often it expulse its guts out of its mouth. Do you know why this happens? Greetings from México!!
Digestion tends to be the cause of it. Are you feeding them often? Sometimes too much feeding can cause them to stick out that portion of their mouth. I would also check parameters. High salinity and high nitrates can be the cause as well.. Thanks for coming out to watch!!
@@BrockLeonardHey Brock! thank you so much, yes i think you are right, perhaps I've been over feeding.
I have a 4 maybe 5 inch yuma, that has never had a baby or split! It only attached to a small rock much smaller then itself. Once I accidetally cut a piece off and it didint die. Not sure what happened to the piece though. I dont want to cut through the mouth because I think it would look very starge! This thing is a monster! LOL Do you think I can cut pieces of it or does it have to be through the mouth? Also what about stinging? Pretty sure my Rhodatis has taken out other shrooms! I want to put them all together on a big rock in frag tank but is that usafe? Also my huge candy crush came loose the other day them it just melted into goo when I placed him back in cage! Why would that happen?
Thx dudee
37 gallon bow front. 18w aqua sky. And 30w reef brute lumilight
Great video! Will a Evo 13.5 stock light grow these?
Should be able to. They do good under low light.
@@olivervarney2853 Thanks they are doing great and getting bigger by the day. I have 4 mushrooms, one Devils hand, 11 Zoas, a Kenya Tree, and a Pulsating Xenia (The PX melted to a small nub when I received it. But I think it's starting to come back ever so slowly.) Thanks again for the reply.
this maybe off topic but can i keep a tomini tang in a 60 gallon tank
Yeah that’s like 4 feet across
Yes you can
Thank you for this great video. I have a question. I have a ricordea still on a frag in the sad, Do I take it out off the frag and move it to a lower rock or put it on the sad without the frag? Thxs!
I'd recommend putting the frag plug near a rock at the bottom instead of removing. That way it won't float around the tank.
u culd of said thx noob he dident awnser because no one cares o bout you
I got a question i jst got me a orange ricordea mushroom coral n i wanted to kno should i keep tha lights on at night or can i turn them off
Can mushroom corals live with natural lighting?
But does it taste like mushrooms?
Amazing colony! How long do ricordeas grow? I have 1 with 2 mouths just a month ago
joejobabgua
What corals grow under compact t5 in the red sea max 130 d
Have a question for you I glued down a rock that my recording a mushroom was attached to I kind of touch the mushroom a few times I did it last night and this morning it still shrunk how long on average does it take for them to bounce back and expand again
Hey boss, Been following for a while. I am ready for my first coral. I am running a c- ray 200 LED. I really want one but scared that it take over my tank. Any suggestions on when to clip or take care of. I am having difficulties finding coral care. I know about elements and such, but like coral care as in maintaining like a lawn lol. I am just afraid and figured this would be the first step towards the goal.
I have a 125 gallon long, running two c rays
I would recommend rock placement be your biggest concern. For the mushrooms, place them on a rock that is not touching any other rocks around, that way they are forced to populate only that one.
I actually put in a micro dose of reef roids every day with my dry food, and my mushrooms grow crazy fast, along the rest of my corals.
So can all the different shrooms live touching?
Yes!
I just got a ricordea Yuma and am unsure about the placement. I have a 20 gal cube water box with 1 AI prime 16. I have him towards the bottom but seems like he’s getting too much flow. Any suggestions? Lights on full intensity 6 hours with 80% being highest intensity.
Thank you!!
Is there less current toward the corners of your tank? I do not think it would hurt to put him someone very calm, even if it had to be higher up in the tank.
Can different types of mushrooms touch each other? Like ricordia next to discosoma?
Yes. I have a bunch all clustered together
YES!
Can I use RGB flood lights to grow corals?
Not going to do the trick for the corals
Oh damn I
oh!
Great and really informational! Can they grow in a shaded area? I have a C shaped rock, if I put one in the middle of the C will they grow down to the sand?
It is definitely possible. Put it as far to the edge as you can so they will want to grow in a downward pattern.
All I see is aiptasia in the beautiful tank
Hey everybody!
