I bought my niece a monogram Speedy B 25 for her graduation recently. I noticed the uneven patina yesterday. She hadn't noticed and doesn't mind, but I want her 1st LV to be special. My bags have that even, golden caramel on all the Vachetta. So happy you ranted about the new treatment. My niece's bag is going back. Luckily she's saving for another Speedy in Damier. maya&luna ugh! That just sickens me. I have been hearing so much of this since I did the video and getting private messages about it. I took the bag back, along with two Neverfulls that were doing the same thing and made them give me a store credit. I also called Customer care and emailed pictures to them. It’s ridiculous how careless they are being with the making of these bags now. They’re ruining everything by trying to make things “better”. I love my DE speedy! I tried everything to get them to patina at the same rate but nothing worked. I finally sent pictures to my SA and they allowed me to return it and exchange for something else. I was really sad to get rid of it but I didn’t want to chance getting another bag that did the same thing. If your bag bothers you, I would try reaching out to them and see what they will do for you.
It's true what you said abtout the different colour of patina.. it's happened to my neverfull as well and i gave it back to the maison. they've exchanged it with a new one. (Italy)

I was so torn with this as well. I actually let go of my speedy 30 mono because at one point my bag closet looked like the mono print 😂. Now i am missing it, bag remorse... maybe one day she will join me again 😊! Thank you for this review! You are beautiful ❤️

Great video. Loved your honesty. I just purchased my first luxury bag…I chose the Neverfull GM tote in DE print. I’m happy with it so far…speedy is on my wishlist. But honestly these bags are so expensive I don’t know if I’ll ever buy another lol!
Congrats on your new bag! The Neverfull GM is an amazing bag. It can be so versatile. I use mine every time I go on road trips or we go on vacation. It makes a great personal item for the plane also!
Love your videos ❤️! I bought the speedy 30b mono in the mono in 2019. I am so particular how I take care of my bags and noticed the patina on 1 chap that after a year was not the same patina as the rest of the entire bag so I know it's treated. So sad how the quality is inconsistent but I am afraid to do anything about it except just keep using it, take care as usual and hope it will look the same over time. Thank you for sharing you insights you are spot on.

This is soooo helpful! I have the Papillon in the Damier Ebene and was thinking of getting that print in the Speedy. But after watching your video I think I’m getting the monogram. I’m a busy mom to young kids and I’m planning on wearing it crossbody so I hope it wears well 😅
Hey doll...Great video and LOVE YOUR HONESTY!!! I own a Speedy 30 Mono....and love it! I personally would have taken or returned this bag with straps like this. I would find it hard to enjoy the bag otherwise. I've saved up for a bag and thought it would be a Chanel reissue but no luck with the color I want... Preloved of course. 😜 LV fashion house has really made it hard for me with the price increase and quality of their products. Again, your honesty is Truly valuable to me. Have an Awesome weekend 💕

I have the same problem with my handles on my speedyB 30. It began right away. I am just going to power thru it. My bag is 6 months old. I bought it right before the Covid virus hit inMarch. Thank you for explaining what the deal was with the handles.
I don’t think I would have had as much of an issue if it hadn’t been different on each handle. I couldn’t handle one being light while the other was dark.
Girl you are absolutely right about your observation regarding the handles! Louis Vuitton haws changed the way they are making the bags, and they are going up in price!!!
They need to work on their quality issues before they go up in price anymore than they already have. The price goes up and the quality goes down. I just purchased another Graceful MM in the DE and paid $120 more for this one than I did for my other one I bought two years ago. It’s insane. Thank you so much for watching ❣️

I bought my final piece of LV
Speedy 35 DE no bandolier.
I took a trip into LV today and ordered up.
I sold my graceful PM DA print though.
The canvas was turning yellow and LV wouldn’t help me so, I sold it and got enough to get the other.
My organizer I have in my neverful MM will fit in speedy to so I won’t have to buy a new one.
I’m done with buying LV for now and am going to enjoy my 3 pieces and one SLG.

Omg, I just bought my speedy b30 monogram in March 2021 and it’s doing the same thing. I made an appointment next week with my SA to bring it in. It’s so disappointing. Thanks for sharing, I thought I was seeing things 😂. Glad to hear I can take it back, they didn’t even question me, this must be happening a lot.

The uneven patina is a problem they are having with almost all of their bags that have “untreated” vachetta now. They are treating some pieces on the bags but not all of the pieces. Good luck with yours! Hopefully if enough people complain and return their bags they’ll stop doing that and leave the leather alone to patina the way it should.

Just found your channel a few days ago and I ❤️ It! I am also a professional mom who has an LV obsession, but have to be selective and gradually check off my list. To me, this makes it more special anyway! I like other channels but some are totally unrelatable to my life as they swing by LV, Chanel, etc. on a random Tuesday. Then go home and show us the 9 luxury bags they bought that day.🤦🏻♀️😂 I’d love to do that too, but until then..THANKS for your honest reviews and practical advice! Thankyou for giving complete insight and indepth information into both canvases. I was only aware of Damier Ebene being all weather bag but the strap tends to dig into ones shoulders. Whereas Monogram having problem with water due to vachetta strap, handles and trimmings. I never knew that vachetta’s problem with water stain gets solved with patina of vachetta. I’ve always liked Damier Ebene but seventeen (17) years back when I bought my first LV bag there was a marked price difference between Damier Ebene and Monogram canvas. Hence I bought classic speedy 25 in Monogram canvas. Now I want to buy Speedy b 30 but was shuttling between Damier Ebene and Monogram canvas. But after seeing your video, decided that Speedy b 30 in DE is not for me as I wear bracelets and ring in my hand plus DE strap will dig into my shoulders as I have a shoulder problem.
Can you suggest any other style of bag comfortable for me in DE canvas?
Can Speedy b 30 in Monogram canvas be dressed up (as I have to take it for a wedding and carry lot of jewllery which will be heavy) ? Do Vachetta straps soften over time? Any way to hasten the patina?

Hello! If you’re looking for a damier Ebene bag that is comfortable I would recommend the Graceful MM or PM bag. That strap is very comfortable because it is wide and flat.
As for the speedy b, I think it can be dressed up or down. It’s not as dressy as the Ebene print in my opinion but it can still be dressy. I wouldn’t do anything to hasten the patina process. If you want though, you can sit it in indirect sunlight such as near a window in your house. Just make sure both sides get even amount of sun. I would turn it every hour or so so it gets all sides. I just let the process happen naturally.

@@LMA-jf5pk I think it might be slightly more comfortable but only because it’s smaller and cannot fit as much so it won’t be as heavy. However I do think it would be less comfortable than the Graceful. I don’t have any experience with the Alma.

Great review. You're spot on about the patina. That sucks. I've never owned a monogram bag. I own a Suhali and a few DEs.
I’m staying away from any of their pieces that have vachetta leather. All of the bags they are making right now that have vachetta are having these problems. My coworker has multiple pieces she’s purchased in the last year or two and they’re all experiencing the same issue. It’s too bad because they used to be such an amazing fashion house.
Great video babe! ❤️ I’m not sure if you know but recently in the past year they changed all the Ebene treated leather and now it has a matte finish to it instead of it being shiny. Apparently it’s supposed to prevent the severe wrinkles and cracks that people have been experiencing of their DE bags (especially the Neverfull). I have a GM Neverfull and a Speedy B30 in the newer matte leather and I love it! Both bags have held up really well so far but I have only had them for less than a year😆...I would say you should😄 go for the DE NEVERFULL because of the fact that they changed the leather😁😁😁

Yes, I wish more people knew that those water spots eventually do go away and blend into the bag. I bought and sold many an LV bag in my day and I'm going to be repurchasing another Speedy Mono 35 and I'm interested to see if the QC is different in Europe as I am currently in Austria and the bags are coming to me directly from France. I will be on the look out for this patina issue. Yikes.

Emily Fitzpatrick I love the Neverfull in the monogram print, but just be forewarned that you could end up with one that has both treated and untreated leather. The parts that are treated will not patina the same. Just like my bag in this video. You can do the water test to see what’s treated and what’s not. A small drop of water will soak in to untreated leather and immediately leave a wet spot. The untreated will not absorb as easily.
I love the damier ebene canvas as well and I’ve heard they changed the leather so it no longer cracks. I’m considering getting another one of those. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a Happy Birthday!!!!🎂🎈🎉

I’m not 100% certain they’ve changed the leather, but I think within the last year they changed it due to all the issues with cracking.
It snows and rains a lot where I live but I think I would still get the monogram. I don't care about spots and dirt but that's just me. I think having the monogram print would be worth it.
You can't try the apple garde rain and stain spray. It's safe to use on LV vachetta leather and makes it nearly impossible to get water spots

I prefer my speedy in the DE And my neverfull GM in the Monogram. I chose the DE for my speedy because of the darker coated handles, it shows no wear where I feel if the handles are natural then it would show much more wear and tear. On my GM, the straps are much softer with the monogram and so much more comfortable on my shoulder. I have owned mine for almost four years in the patina has darkened and is just stunning on this bag. Also, now that the bag has patina it makes the monogram also weatherproof ♥️ Luckily in the five years that I’ve owned my speedy in the DE, It has never scratched or cracked on the handles or the body of the purse in anyway. I never baby these bags I pay too much money!

I had no idea about the patina....at first I was like 'seriously?' but honestly, these are EXPENSIVE. Hopefully LV will fix this issue. I've also noticed that on other bags, they are using this black stuff on trim and it's AWFUL. After about three months, the black stuff started peel off. LV better listen to it's customers. This is a great video!
I agree Louis Vuitton definitely needs to start listening to their customers feedback! They keep going up on their prices but the quality of their bags does not seem to be getting any better. I have both canvases in the Speedy B30. Just bought my monogram 3 months ago and the handles are so much lighter than the chaps and straps on the bag. I’m glad you brought that up. Obviously mine is pieced together as well. Ugh!! Trying to put it in the sun while covering up the chaps. What’s pain!! I agree that the DE is a dresser look. Margarita Medina they’ve been doing it for a while now. They’re beginning to “treat” the vachetta leather to make it water resistant and stain resistant. And that would be fine if they used all treated leather pieces on the bag. However, some pieces are treated while others are not. This results in a bag that will never patina evenly.
Do you have an update of what happened with your your monogram speedy? I’m trying to decide between the Damier Ebene and Monogram one for Christmas!
Hello!!! So my monogram speedy was deemed defective and they gave me store credit to put towards another purchase. I had three bags with vachetta do that to me and they took all three back. With my credit I purchased two other bags (not speedies though). I HIGHLY recommend the DE speedy. It’s so beautiful. I love mine and it is still pristine regardless of how much I’ve used it. Mae Catleya I feel the same. I love when it develops a rich patina. But the way they are making them now, I doubt it will develop one.
Will that other patina though? I would return mono for consistent bag. Many do not enjoy worrying about water etc
You can spray the vachetta with apple garde... and then it’s waterproof
I’m going to be buying my first LV bag and I think I want the Damier Ebene speedy 30. Is there anyway to know if it’s made in the USA or France before buying it?
If ordering online there is no way to know in advance until you get it.
mine with the same issue is also made in France in October 2020. I got it 2 weeks after it was made.
Sounds about the same as mine. It’s sad the quality of these bags has gone down so much. I feel like they’re ruining their reputation putting out sub-par quality merchandise.

You could always test it with Water Wipes. If the leather doesn’t absorb the moisture immediately and evenly then it’s been treated. If you run the wipe over the handle and it looks splotchy, like certain spots are absorbing the water and other spots are not, then it’s been treated.

Wondering how are the handles now? Do they still have different colour right now? As I just received new ordered Speedy 30 and its handles are already in different colour. I am thinks should I return or not?
One handle on my bag continued to get darker while the other one stayed much lighter. I ended up returning it and exchanging it for something else. I would return your bag before too much time goes by and they try to say it’s something you did that caused it to not patina correctly.

If I had to buy a Neverfull and speedy right now, I would probably go with the damier Ebene print simply because LV is currently having huge quality control issues with their vachetta leather. They are placing treated pieces of vachetta on only portions of the bag and it’s causing it to not patina evenly. I would go with damier Ebene.
How do you get the creasing out of your speedy? And how long does it normally take? I have the monogram print and it really bothers me, but its only a couple months old.
I didn’t really do anything to make the creases come out. It could be because I put so much in my bags and when I don’t use them I make sure they’re stuffed fully.

I own a speedy b 30 my world tour in black strap and you can choose to place your initials in the corner. Minimalistic choice.❤️

Maybe you could also talk to a couple more LV people and tell them you want one that has the same handles and you want it made in France. Wouldn't hurt to bug them, if the handles are still bothering you. Just a suggestion.

I was really struggling on the prints because I love the way the Monogram looks. I just wish that the leather was treated on the Monogram but I also like the Damier Ebene print as well which is equally as beautiful, but I'm going to purchase a bag that I don't have to baby, so I'm going to go with the Damier Ebene print. Hello! They actually do have some monogram bags with a brown treated leather. I believe the Pallas and flower tote are two I can think of off the top of my head. It’s very pretty!

I just received the Petit Noe in Mono. I agree the vachetta feels almost rubber-like, I believe they are treating the leather. I had a Petit Noe in the 90's, the canvas was thicker and the leather felt more natural. I have a Neverful from 2018 and the leather does not seem to be treated. I am not sure about this new leather.
Staci Keller hi Staci! I too have a Neverfull from late 2018 early 2019 and it does not have treated leather. But the last two I got do. I’m doing a video soon about the vachetta on LV bags to bring more awareness to this. They shouldn’t get away with making sub par bags when they charge the amount they do for them.

Sorry for the late response. For some reason this comment never showed up in my notifications. I do think there can be advantages as far as water repellancy. However, in my experience, it causes the leather to patina unevenly and get spotty even worse than the untreated. Also, you have to watch that your bag doesn’t have both types on it because then some parts will patina normally and beautifully while the treated bits stay much lighter. I just returned three bags because of this. I prefer untreated if I had my choice.
My Speedy B is from 2011 the first year they came out and it’s first quality, you can buy preloved and request the date code to figure out what year the bag is made. I stopped buy Louis Vuitton in 2011.
Ugh, I wish I’d purchased my bags from back then. I keep telling myself to buy preloved but I’m so picky I’m too afraid something is going to be wrong with it and I end up buying new.

You can’t go wrong with the Neverfull or Speedy but I would also consider the Graceful MM. Regardless of which one you choose, I would go with a Damier Ebene print until they get their issues resolved with the vachetta leather.

This is so irritating! I’ve been on the fence with the damier and the mono in the speedy but that quality! The patina problem is just absurd! This bag is $2460 Aus, that’s a lot for a bag! Quality should be perfect! I’m honestly assuming the price increase is going up because the demand for bags seems to be larger and more accessible and they want to stay a high luxury brand. I mean, you look at some of their new bags that have come out most of them start at $4000 AUS. I can understand if that’s their issue, but sort out your quality!! Thanks so much for this video! I agree with you 100%!!! The quality should justify the prices they’re asking. I LOVE my Damier print so much and it’s holding up so well. I think you’ll be happy with DE. I’ve had it three years and it still looks great.
@@ItalidaReviews We speak with our dollars and LV is not going to care as long as their sale soar through the roof. Honest videos like yours need to get the message out -- so LV can see (from their sales) that people are not purchasing their expensive goods like they use to, due to quality issues. The leather on a bag should be consistent, period. Either all treated or all untreated vachetta leather should be on bags so the patina effect happens consistently.
Yes. Omg thank you, someone else says it. They are most certainly treating some of the vachetta leather bags. My Iena had treated straps then i had them replaced and now they are raw. It's insane! I hate how the zipper pulls are treated too. They feel like rubber. I hate it. And you never know what you will get.
LVCoffeeLver they ended up taking back my speedy b 30, my Neverfull mm in mono and my Neverfull mm in DA. I am really sad to not have those bags anymore but I am reluctant to repurchase them at this time because I don’t want to just end up with the same issue. I did however buy a DA Artsy ( which I’m so friggin in love with😍) and I am a little concerned it’s going to happen with it as well but if it does then I’ll be taking that back too. However, I think all the pieces of vachetta on it are untreated. 🤞

Hello, I do not use Apple Guard on my bags. I use the Patina Champ method and that is all.

I had three bags that did the very same thing. This Speedy and two Neverfulls. They took all three back and gave me a store credit for them. I brought all three in at one time.

I love the DE print in the speedy. I would recommend the 25 if you’re planning on wearing it primarily as a crossbody bag. Just keep in mind the opening is much smaller than the 30.

Jennifer Cardenas honestly I don’t think Louis Vuitton is worth the money anymore. I think the quality of MCM bags surpasses the LV bags by far. I have an MCM backpack I’ll be reviewing soon. If you buy a LV bag, just be certain to inspect it carefully before bringing it home.

Did you get a new replacement speedy monogram? Do you have proof that the handles are pieced together and they are now using treated leather? Is this factual or allegedly? I would really like to know this 😍
Hello! I did not get another speedy monogram because I didn’t want to encounter the same problem. Yes, I do have proof they are being treated. Treated leather repels water while truly untreated leather immediately soaks it up. That’s why water spots were so common in the bags before. In addition I had two separate SA’s tell me they were treating some pieces to lessen the wear and tear, only they aren’t treating every piece on the bag. Only the pieces that receive the most wear. At any rate, they wouldn’t have taken three bags back all at one time if they thought they weren’t at fault. You don’t have to take my word for it though. Buy a piece and see how it patinas.

@@janeematri9780 hopefully you won’t have any issues with the minimal vachetta on it. I really believe it is up to the artisan as to which pieces they use the treated leather on. I purchased an artsy bag after they began treating the vachetta and it was fine. The pieces of leather and the handle had not been treated and it was developing an even patina. That’s the problem, it’s very hit or miss. Congratulations on your pochette Métis. I have the reverse and I really love it! ☺️

Thank you! It can be difficult to purchase a luggage tag from LV if you don’t have a piece of their luggage. For some reason they don’t like selling them as accessories. If you can find a sales rep to build a good rapport with they will sometimes sell one to you. I got lucky.

I’m not even through the video & I had to halt it to say wtf is going on with those handles? I have this bag mine is like 13 years old looks brand new with hardly light honey patina it was the old vachetta. When u turned those handles in I saw the marked difference not only would this be completely unacceptable to me but would drive my ocd crazy. Lol. Thanks for the warning! My last 2 bags were ebene & my newest wallet monogram but now I’m going to think long and hard on the new vachetta! I actually prefer my older speedy monogram which held up like new. You are dead on with the ebene speedy turning black in the corners but I must say mine is from 2006 and the black is not noticeable and not troubling at all both bags have been workhorses and held up great and both look great 👍 I do not baby the bags at all I live in northeast with rain/snow, I do try to not use my speedy mono in rain but I’m sure I have gotten stuck with it a few times and it’s really fine, my ebene bags are in every kind of monsoon and extreme weather and they do much better and more worry free.
I would see if they would consider swapping out one of the handles? My bags are both made in USA and have not had any issues, guess it disproves the theory France makes better quality after seeing those mismatched handles I’m speechless
It drives me crazy that they aren’t the same color. I had to stop using it. I couldn’t stop looking at it and getting madder and madder every time. I definitely want to get another Ebene bag. I love my DE speedy. Like you, the black on the corners doesn’t phase me one bit. It’s really not noticeable unless you point it out. I’m not sure what I want to do about my bags. My two neverfulls are having the same problem. I’m kind of done with LV ☹️

Honestly, the red interior in the damier Ebene in such a big con for me, that even though I live in an area, where it rains quite a lot, I stick to the damier azur or mono..
Diamondding I wish they had the DE speedy with the Rose Ballerine color. I think that would be so pretty. I’m not a huge fan of the red interior but I’ll admit it’s grown on me. I like it a lot more than I used to. Thank you so much for watching!

Omg that’s horrible. I would be a raving psycho in their store. I had three bags do that and I took all three in and exchanged them for a store credit. Do you mind if I ask your location? I am here in Texas. That makes me so furious for you!! If we lived near each other I’d be going to that store with you!! Lol. I know they’ve told you many times now that it’s normal, but you have to keep at them and tell them the bag is made with both treated and untreated leather. If you place it in a window, the untreated is going to still continue to darken at a faster rate than the pieces on your bag the are treated. What dumb-asses.

I think it has gotten better but my theory is it’s because they now treat all the vachetta pieces regardless of placement. I recently purchased two neverfull mm bags, monogram and Damier azure and they both seem to be developing an even patina all over. I wouldn’t let it deter you from getting the bag you want.

Hello, my speedy has the matte handles. I’ve had it quite a few years now so the handles are a little shinier than they were when I first got it.

The vintage Mono is way better than the new ones, specially the canvas you can feel the quality of the Mono canvas even when it's like 20 yrs old, compare to the new ones it easily crack or damage.

They did actually allow me to get a store credit and choose something else. I had three bags all purchased within that year that did the same thing. They allowed me to bring all three in for a store credit.

The damier ebene is not leather though 🤔 it's a man made material.
Actually, the trim of the damier Ebene IS leather. The remainder of the bags are canvas.

I agree. My Gucci Soho still smells like leather. When these bags are new, the leather parts smell like leather, especially the Damier one. But after a while the leather smell fades.
