    I was there in the fifth row..Im pretty tough guy but when George Harrison walked onto that stage I was just overcome with emotions...I had tears in my eyes..I don't know why but it was just so unbelievably unreal to see him there w a guitar in his hands...I almost shit my pants...we're Talkin George Harrison !!! The man,the lead guitarist of the Beatles.....he was so cool,the crowd went nuts and would not stop cheering and chanting George.....he had to step back a few times and even say please,,ok,,thank you......I've been to hundreds of concerts....seen alot of great stuff but never anything like that.....seemed like such a nice guy in everything I've ever seen in tapes of him...down to earth...not cocky at all...just a nice guy with a big heart.......and when Johnny winter came out....let's just say I'm glad I shit before I went.....that entire show was unreal...the ojays.....all of them,everyone...Neal young says,,,welcome.to bobfest......when I got that ticket I had no idea it was going to be so good......that was best show I will ever see.....and that's ok because you just could not repeat or duplicate it ever....only could have better if McCartney showed up and played w George....thanks George......,

    Songwriting is work. Dylan probably knows this. What others seriously in the “Biz” often deeply recognize Dylan’s talent almost as revelation, not requiring work. That would make him a song generator rather than a songwriter. This simplicity of this genius knows showing off is not allowed. Seers or “revelators” don’t need to show off. It’s too much work. Economy of effort! Dylan’s point of view of course would be different. I’m sure he finds his stature as rather nice, fun and silly. That will come up at tea when I meet him.

    Thanks so much for posting this (and, presumably, the previous 'versions' of this, too).
    One thing has always struck me as strange about this - that George and Eric Clapton do not even acknowledge each other, given that they were friends; is your recollection that the camera just did not capture any interaction, or that it was so busy (because of all the people there), or was there something potentially going on?

      A time stamp would be helpful in identifying who you are asking about. I think the youngest guys in the room would be Pearl Jam members Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, and Stone Gossard. They are talking to Tom Petty around the 2:20 mark.
      Updated: I don’t think Stone was there actually so the kid with bleached blond buzz cut is someone from PJ’s crew. The guy with the bi-lvl haircut at the beginning (blonde on top and dark underneath) is GE Smith. He organized the bands and played with several of them. Who is G.E. Smith?

    • @gjs9441
      @gjs9441 Před 3 lety +4

      G.E. Smith is the guy with the weird blond haircut who walks around with some papers in his hand. He is the musical director of the show and is a hell of a guitar player himself. He played in Dylan's band from 1988 to 1990. He played also with Hall & Oates and was the leader of the Saturday Night Life Band for 10 years. He acted also as a backing guitar player in this concert.

    I hate to say it because they turned out to be great, but in 1992, what the hell was Pearl Jam doing in that room?

      Depending on the timing of this event, PJ was exploding everywhere in '92 so they were probably brought in to pull in the younger audience. Must have been a mind blowing experience for them.
