Hi, I'm struggling like Robert previously, can get the end cap off but the freehub body just will not budge.
Initial problem was a complete loss of drive, cassette spins freely forward & backward.
That is 3 people with the same issue. You know what, Gary, I'm wondering if Mavic has revised the design.
@@ribblevalleycyclist just to add more detail to the pot, my initial problem was a total loss of engagement in the freehub, the cassette moves freely both forward & backwards.
Running Mavic Aksiums on my Ribble CGR al, the wheels came on the bike & was purchased exactly 1 year ago.

If the cassette is spinning in both directions, this would suggest that the pawls have failed. The below link gives some good detail on how a typical freehub works, and the role the pawl plays. However, the Mavic 360 freehub is slightly different in its design, but the fundamentals are the same

The Mavic website would suggest that the design for the Aksium hasn’t changed, because the user manual for the replacement free hub is dated 2014 (Second link). However, as the first link shows, their current user manual suggests it should come off as shown in my video.

My initial thoughts were that the pawls had somehow gotten stuck in the down position & not spring up to engage as normal.
I didn't know how to remove this freehub body, hence finding & watching your video to help me get inside for a look-see.
It seems a very straightforward removal system but i'm now stuck, literally.
Looking at the links you sent it appears Mavic use a different system rather than the traditional pawls which is interesting. Just wish i could get the damn thing off to find out.
A trip to the lbs is on the cards i think, hopefully it can be resolved without resorting to buying a new wheel.

Thanks for the video, it's the only one I could find that shows the ID360 freehub I've got, most seem to have allen key fixings of some kind. I need to replace (or service if it's not actually broken) the freehub as it's not transmitting drive and just slipping (after less than 3000km use!) I'm having the same problem as many are having in that the dust cap comes off exactly as you describe but the freehub won't budge, I think it's seized on the shaft. Now with my LBS to see if they can replace it.

Thank you! I didn't know you can just pull it off like that 😅 That explains the cleaning instructions video from mavic itself. I thought they skipped a step and was confused (but that video is in French so maybe they said it idk).
Yeah, took me by surprise…… when it just fell off and landed on my foot. Wasn’t even my bike, was one I had in for repair. Thought I’d broken it 😂.

Mine was not loose after I took the end cap, I pulled and completely ruined a thin washer, I removed the washer, tried to straighten it back but the hub won't come out, it goes like 75% of the way and then it just stops like there is something else holding it.
I have the ID 360 mavic hub for mtb on a mavic deemax wheel so maybe there's something different there
Hi! I absolutely cannot get the freehub off the axel. I got the cap off no problem but the hub itself is stuck. It will slide, but once it gets to the end of the axel it won’t pull off no matter how much force I use. It’s a 2020 wheel that’s been ridden for 8 months, and a Shimano freehub.
Hi Jesse, That is strange. In the video, you see it gets so far (01:24), but then it needs a slightly stronger put to make it come off. Are you saying that it's doing that, but then refuses to pull off?
Leave the cassette on. Use it to pull the freehub off. If it won’t pull off, use a long punch and tap the back of the cassette to push it off.
Will this work on a Cosmic Elite UST 2019 wheel? I think it also have ID360 but I cannot get the body of the freehub off just by pulling it. Is there another step?

The Mavic Instant Drive 360 Freehub has been used by Mavic on a lot of their low/medium range wheels, It’s worth comparing your hub to this one, which is the hub in this video:

For anyone else also having this issue. There is not another step, the freehub just needs a bit of persuasion to come of. I put the three biggest cassette rings back on, then the screwed the cassette retainer back on, then slide the three rings up (with some force) against the retainer a few times, did the trick. Hope makes sense to someone.
I'm in the same boat as Jesse. Dust cap comes off easy enough, but the actual freehub won't budge at all. Trying to replace Shimano freehub with Sram XDR. I've got the Mavic Cosmic Elite UST Disc, so effectively the same setup. About to call no joy and go to the LBS!

So that’s two people now. When you say it won’t budge, are you saying that your issue is slightly different to Jesse, and yours won’t move at all. Or is yours also sliding up a little, but then refusing to pull off?

If it won’t shift at all, I’m wondering if the hub is exactly the same. From my experience, once it’s off the bike, these free hubs come off too easily. So easily, I’ve had them fall off when the cassette is still in place.
Is it possible it’s a slightly different design or Mavic has revised it, and it’s removed a different way? Some thru-axle free-hubs are removed by splitting the internal axle with cone spanners by unscrewing the two parts of the axle apart, and some are split using a large hex key into each side.
