  • In this video, some of the route between Newton-le-Sire and Reskerton is rebuilt, around the River Resk bridge. The focus of this timelapse shows the northern approaches (the Newton-le-Sire side of the bridge) being levelled-out and made into a smoother incline (an approximately 15-block gradient) as well as the associated earthworks being rebuilt. These works took place on January 22, 2024.
The next section of works will involve the other side of the River Resk bridge, into Reskerton itself. However, the plan from here is a tricky one - using a 10-block gradient the track can just about be lowered from the bridge height to the same level as the station and the two level crossings, but then it'd need to go right back up the next incline, so a new plan has been proposed.
However, this new plan will need some serious consideration: it involves only lowering the track a few blocks, to the height of the other incline, and raising the level of the track through the town. That would mean the complete rebuild of the station and the elevation of its platforms (and the station was only rebuilt in 2021, so it's not in need of another rebuild!), as well as the complete elimination of both the level crossings in the town, as the new track would fly over the roads by a bridge anyway. From a safety point of view that's very good, but it'd involve the complete closure of the line for a period, and also make the 4th-busiest station in Hermitia briefly unusable.
The decision is expected to be made later in the Spring.

The GMRTLP's objective is to eliminate the many unrealistic inclines and drops of the Great Minecraft Railway route, to keep it roughly on a similar y-coordinate, making it look and function better. In some places, the GMRTLP will involve completely re-routing the tracks into bridges, tunnels and cuttings (as well as demolishing existing ones), but that's acceptable. The rest of the track layout is also being rebuilt to modern standards. Works began at the end of 2023 at the Howston end of the line.

The MRB operates numerous projects. This route, the Great Minecraft Railway, was completed in November 2019. In case you've not read the GMRTLP info in the description, rebuilding works are taking place because standards have massively improved between now and then.
There's the very large network in the UDM which had lots of expansion plans but the world file crashed in October 2021. Almost right away, the MRB began building a rail network in Lilladu, and while 10km of the backbone main line was built, not a lot's been done over there since 2022. At the end of 2022, the MRB also started building a "free-build railway", I.e. one which was just built without much prior planning. The Freebuild railway is technologically the most advanced project as yet, but since renewal works have begun in Hermitia (the GMRTLP), work on it has been paused.
