The one thing I really hate is how they went through the old skins and put all of the best customization options in the level 4 tier even though they were already organized they redid it to make you spend more for them.
Tbh you do get enough in the battle pass to get all styles
I think the main point is that now some older skins where the better options would be lvl 2 or 3. Instead they're 4 so now you have to waste the prisms to unlock option 4 to get the best when before they were only options 2 or 3 @Chair_that_u_sit_on

does it matter? before you paid for one battle pass, you get one mythic skin, now it is the exact same; no matter what you’ll always be able to afford a skin from completing one pass. now you just have the luxury of scraping together extra resources to save for another skin
Even with the customization, all the mythics have a “base” look that they use. A good example is sigma, he has a specific look that was used in the home screen and all the starwatch art, but in the new shop, his level one options do not give you that look, which I think is stupid
I think its a good idea that their letting players to get previous mythics cuz not everyone always wants the current mythic.

So much for "choose what you want" out of the Mythic Upgrades. When Aaron was explaining it, it sounded like an upgrade tree, not a linear path. Surely that gets changed this year.
You do get to choose the mythic that you want with the prisms they give in the bp tho
@@alexknight81 yes, but I was referring to the upgrade levels after unlocking the "base" at Level 1. The mythic unlocks were explained by Aaron Keller in multiple interviews as "you can unlock the specific pieces/parts that you want." you don't need to fully upgrade it... Well, if the color you want is only at the last level, then you HAVE to fully upgrade it.
Yeah I was hoping for something like 50 for the base and 5 per individual upgrade. So you can pick a color weapon armor upgrade for 65 prisms and have 15 left. Then next season maybe you just spend 55 and have 35 left. Now you can get a third mythic base and with the following season have enough to pick the customs for the newest and the previous. Also allows for keeping some prisms stockpiled in case they decide to add further upgrades to old mythics

I think they mythic prism prices are specifically made to exploit the whales, they are not for normal players who will just get a battle-pass and earn it normally. The prisms to buy are for the people with more money than sense. and you know what? it works, i have seen mythic mercy's on day 1 and there was no way they hit level 80 in 1 day lol

Whales and desperate people. Say it's the last day of the season and you're just short a few prisms from the bp to buy the mythic for your main, but you have no hope of finishing in time. Some people that are desperate enough might be willing to shell out a few bucks in that situation

No. If they planned this from the start they would have also released old mythics with extra upgrades, practically forcing you to buy prisms because 80 is only enough to fully level 1 mythic, but the new weapon or color on the old skins are really good so you skip a mythic or buy the prisms. If prism prices were half their cost, and every hero had another level of options I guarantee they'd make way more money than the current model. No one is paying $10 for 10 prisms that don't do anything, but they definitely would pay $5 if it means additional past mythic options. And the packaging would make 100% sense in that it's 90 prisms to upgrade a past mythic to the new level, with 10 leftover to upgrade a mythic you own to the new level too.
@@cnnr_my suggestion is similar, if they included the current mythic plus prisms for one more per season it’d effective as garnering more good faith. But yeah, they’re way overpriced.
@@nailinthefashion but then you'd have people stockpile prisms by the hundreds because it's not like there's 30 mythics already out. At the very least there could be 20 extra prisms at the end of the free battlepass so that free to play players who help keep the game running have something to work towards too. And then every 3 seasons they can get a mythic and an upgrade but also premium players can too.

Essentially just stockpiling a useless currency. Also don't talk 'generosity' of a free to play game and then compare it to a game that cost money to buy. That's like saying "overwatch 1 was more generous with it's cosmetics, it gave them out in loot boxes you could earn!" but yeah, you had to pay $50 for the game already.
The prisms are absurdly overpriced. Aaron wasn’t kidding when he said just grinding them in the battlepass was easier. He should’ve said easier for your wallet because if you want to just simply buy the prisms to get a mythic skin with all levels you have to pay $40 - $80. The mythic skins are goated but they are NOT worth more than $10.
I agree they aren't worth that amount of money; I think the attempt might be to make these skins something you have to play to earn, only giving the option to buy if you have way too much expendable income. It keeps the skins more scarce and special, and you have to work for them. And from that perspective I don't mind it.

What I dislike is that the same handful of DPS heroes are the ones getting battle pass legendary skins. It’s almost always Widowmaker getting a legendary and it feels mad if you play other roles

Generally agree with you, I think this is an improvement over the system as it was before. The only thing that some people mentioned that gives room for some concern is that Blizzard now technically has the option to release multiple mythics per season if they want to, and then you find yourself having to choose between two (or more) you might both like since you can only earn the prisms for one during the season and then would have to wait till the other comes back into the shop 2 seasons later. I can see them do that since it'll really give some people fomo to buy extra prisms.
multiple mythics per season? the implication is that there's more workforce within the dev / art team to design more stuff on their live service game sounds good to me. as for the fomos, if there's _that_ many people purchase the prisms, those people might be the ones who keep overwatch alive (which are lmao)

first of all, theres no way they are releasing multiple mythics per season especially after layoffs when they've already mentioned how hard it is for them to make these. but even if they did, I don't see how this is a bad thing. Most people don't just collect all the mythics. they just want the mythics for heroes in their pool. so if two mythics were to release its only a good thing to those players. I guess the same people crying about how you cant just buy all the mythics for cheap are the ones that'd complain if two mythics came out at once.
Also they price them high while giving the option to grind it for much cheaper to increase BP sales and also keep the rarity of the item still somewhat similar. if mythics were cheap it devalues the bp and the grind to get the mythic.
It wouldn’t be a regular thing but I could see them doing it next season to spice things up or say once a year, every few seasons. Then we could get my dream of having mythic sets like more cyberdemons, more gods. Love Zeus/Amaterasu when on the same team, would be nice to see more of that.

The prisms are slightly over-priced, but my god OW players love to whine.
Same thing with the coins in the BP. We’re getting 600 instead of 550 now, with a faster + easier method, and a bunch of losers are crying over them being removed from challenges.

Saying "120 bucks to skip the grind" is the same as saying "i hate this game, and only play for skins". Having to play the game isn't a negative. I'm not gonna meat ride them just because they do some good changes.
Coins change was great, mythic shop is great, balance isn't too bad at all right now. But they are 100% robbing their player base with the mythic skins. But even 50 bucks is too much for these skins. If I play more for a skin than I do for a full game that can provide me with a full experience rather than a gun model then I think its an issue to speak of.
On top of that the skins used to be 10 bucks and leveling the battlepass wasn't a chore because I enjoy actually playing the game. So it was 10 bucks and being able to play more of the game I love

Yes, it is only a little bit over priced. $50 or $60 keeps it out of reach as a casual option (which is good because the players want the battle pass to feel rewarding and exciting), but not so expensive that people never go for it.

Premium too high? Just get the battle pass then. Get a previous skin you want during a season that they release a skin you don’t want. Problem solved.
@ItsMihali firstly, no one said anything about a play wall being extra value. The point of what I said was that it's cringe to say they can upsell you for having to play the game you like to play anyway.
Why would it matter at this point if they want it to be some special thing to make the battlepasses more rewarding and exciting? it's just a more expensive skin that is being re sold back to us. You can make it more expensive than other skins, but when the base amount needed was 10 and you sell it for almost 10x to get in full, you're scummy and greedy.

The number of people I've seen who bought mythic prisms to get the skin early is painful. The OW community really complained about $20 legendary skins, but when a $40 mercy mythic comes out, people just can't wait to earn it in the battle pass.
She's one of their money makers. Same with widow, tracer and kiriko. Why do you think they are featured pretty.much every battle pass where as sojourn, zarya and others you maybe get one skin every 4 seasons or so? 😂. Happens a lot with in game currencies. Apex Legends is the same for getting $10 worth of their coin. it's 4.99 for 500 coins and 9.99 for 1000 coins
p sure buying prisms are subject to taxes, at least if they're anything like buying OW2 coins, so no, I don't think it will end up being cheaper for you to buy 50 separately twice, because you're hit with twice whatever your sales tax is
Honestly I don’t mind that the price is high because time is money and trust me there were season where the game felt dead but I still finished each season so I felt a bit weird how there not exclusive anymore. However with that price it still makes the skins feel exclusive but now everyone can have any.
This is also just a add in no reason for people to be mad if they wanted any old mythic but I understand players who have played day one to be a bit salty that there skin isn’t that rare anymore.
I almost never spend coins. I know what they are worth and so even the ones I get for free I feel ripped off spending on stuff.

I was present in the Tracer mythic season when everyone had given up on the game grinding the battle pass to get the mythic skin for my favourite hero. That means something to me. Its not even about the money its about being present in that period of time and playing the game.
My only gripe is that the customizations are sectioned off into a linear path of progression instead of the freedom of choice for customizations,they talked about only liking certain customizations and using extra prisms to buy other customizations for other skins but this does not look like that, i have to purchase all customizations to get the build i want
something i love about this change (the mythic shop) is that it''ll sort of force team 4 into making sure they always have enough customisation options for each new mythic to have a 4th level, so its very possible that while mythics might not always reach sigmas level of customisation they will atleast have some standard thats higher than the s7 and 8 mythics did, the current mercy mythic has one less customisation than genji if we continue with mythics like this it'd literally be perfect, but I guess all we can do is wait and see

yeah you can keep them. I got the battlepass because I had 1000 coins already from weekly. I'm not planning on getting the mercy mythic because I never play her but I wanted some of the other skins. I also have all the mythics I want already. So next season if a hero I play gets a mythic, I will be able to unlock them instantly without even getting the BP.
I think that we can all agree and I believe that I am unanimous in this is that the prices that they're asking for is just straight up ridiculous and needs to be reduced post haste but if they want to lose their player ase then by all means

It costs $80 because it covers the cost of what a mythic is worth + the fact you get it instantly without having to grind through a battle pass
$80 to get a full mythic + skip 40-60hrs of grind is a reasonable price. If it was cheap, say $20-30, there would be no reason to play through the battle pass. People would just buy the mythic and stop playing
+ regardless of pricing no one needs every mythic. Just play through the battle pass, get the prisms and pick the ones you actually want. No one needs all 10 mythics if they are missing some. If there is a mythic you are missing that you want, you can get enough prisms on the battle pass for it

I think the skin itself is fine at 50 prisms (more than half the amount you earn in a season) but I would say each piece should be individually purchasable. Cyber Demon Genji has 4 sets of pieces with 7 additional pieces while Onryo Hanzo has 2 sets with 3 additional, both have just as much work put into them at a base level but Onryo having less options while being the same price when fully unlocked is a bit absurd. All this said I wouldn't say Cyber Demon Genji is worth $80.

I think the mythic prisms instead of a mythic skin being tied to the battle pass improves the battle pass situation more than people realize. Before, part of the decision of whether or not to get the pass would be based on the mythic, in addition to other cosmetics. Now, the focus can be on the pass itself and not the mythic being unveiled that particular season. I think it might make them include better stuff to convince people to actually get the battle pass. After all, you can get the mythic prisms from any battle pass or even extra, if you really wanted to dump a bunch of money for them. Now the value of the battle pass mainly rests on the actual content it contains, rather than banking on sensationalized customized skins. Not to mention the fact that with 600 coins being earnable for free, a new player can easily jump in and play for two seasons to get their bearings and learn the game. And if they stuck with it that long, they are probably invested enough that they would want cosmetics. then they get to just look out for a battle pass that contains stuff they like, use their freely earned currency for it, and they would get all the stuff they wanted, plus enough mythic prisms to pick out exactly what mythic they want from a growing library of choices. In a way, it turns the mythics into a value-added product rather than being the primary focus of battle passes. Long term for player acquisition and retention, that is probably going to be big

Its a free game, they gotta monetize it somehow, but damn 80 buckaroos for 1 skin is kinda nuts. Someone like me would never have bought it in the first place so it wouldn't make sense for me to care about the pricing but I could not name a cosmetic in any video game that is worth more than 20$ (and even then that's pushing it frankly)
Also they do that really scummy thing I hate f2p games for doing where they give you a "bonus" if you buy the more expensive currency option to use for later but the items are priced in a way that the bonus is useless because it either needs to be bought like 4 times to generate value like Flats said, or the opposite end of the spectrum like Apex does where if you buy the 20$ or above option you get bonus coins but the skins are priced at like 2150 coins, so the "bonus" 150 coins you get from the 20$ is really just part of the base price and just exists to lie about the true worth of that bundle
I like the mythic shop, it’s mad expensive, and for that reason I don’t think I’ll ever buy prisms. Although, I wish they still released the current season’s mythic in the premium battle pass. I feel that having to choose between the current season’s mythic or going back to one that I missed, is a little much, but at the same time I understand it. Just kind of bummed that I’m gonna have to choose between sigma mythic and mercy mythic. Still a little torn.
Edit: I feel like we’re all only buying the battle pass for the prisms, and the rest of the pass is just junk that no one cares about

Moving the credits (premium currency whatever it’s called) from challenges into the bp I think is a really good change, I was not able to play every week so I missed out on a ton of credits, now I can get them whenever, w for me.
It’s not bad but taking mercy out the battle pass and making us chose between a new skin or old ones we missed is wicked i would of got moras if I knew they were going to do that

What even is this complaint lol. If you want mythics you need to buy the battle pass and play through it. Doesnt matter if you dont finish it, you get 10 prisms in every 10 levels. Even if you only get halfway you get to keep your prisms for next season

I was really disappointed that I couldn’t just get level four as mercy for her mythic bc I don’t like anything else. Like for Orisa’s mythic if level 1 was just the purplish color I probably wouldn’t even got it. It feel kinda discouraging and tiring rather than just unlocking the whole skin at the end of the battle pass. What I do really love as a slight new ow player is I can get the kiri mythic but I don’t want the yellow version, so that would take even more time.
Day one of season ten my first match I saw a mercy with level 3 mythic. It's crazy amounts of money that people are actually paying for.

My only criticism is that the price of tier 1 should be 40 prisms so that those who only want the first tier of like 2 mythics can get both in a single battle pass. Right now its 50 which leaves you with 30 useless points.
Those 30 points are to fully max out the mythic... to get a full mythic its 80. You get 80 in the battle pass...

I don’t know if this is like an unpopular opinion but I really hate that they’re doing this. People who got older battle passes were expecting their limited skins or whatever and that was a huge factor for buying them, and now their rare s1 skin isn’t going to be rare at all anymore. It’s like if Fortnite just threw the black knight skin back in the shop, it just takes away from its rarity so much
hot take right back at you, Fortnite having battle pass content that will never return is disgustingly wasteful and preys on FOMO to get people to break out their credit card. they had their time to be "exclusive" owners of the skin, other people having the ability to obtain the skin 2 years later is not going to diminish the value they got. this is a good idea and i hope they give us ways to purchase the other battle pass cosmetics as well.
Can we talk about how most level 1 mythics all have what are considered the worst customisation options and locking all the good ones behind level 4 (example: sigmas galactic emperor)

i really dont get the hate on this, why would they make the mythic prisms cheaper than unlocking the ENTIRE 80 tiers on the battlepass, cause it gives you the same thing, just buy the battlepass and dont spend as much, if you are just irresponsible or rich you can buy 80 dollars worth of mythic prisms but its not cashgrabby, its logical. they are literally just saying that you can better just buy the battlepass cause you get more for your (way less) money. its just logical and smart.
i had nearly every single cosmetic item in OW1, and when i learned i wouldnt be able to get mostly everything without spending money (which i spent maybe 200 bucks on loot boxes in OW1 over the years and pink mercy), they cured my FOMO.
why collect everything when im already happy with my character skins, emotes etc? im so glad i really dont care about cosmetics anymore
I think it's quite rare for a company to offer a tier list of currency without actually making the highest more viable proportionally. 39,99x2=79,98, so instead of getting a bonus for paying the highest amount, you actually lose a cent 😂

I can understand why they removed the mythic skins from the Battle Pass. For players who have purchased all of the previous Battle Passes, collecting currency that you wouldn’t be able to use would be annoying.
If I had a say in this, I would keep the mythic skins at level 80 or provide players with more than 80 currency so that they could purchase the mythic skin of the current season and still have some currency left over...
then, to address the issue of players who bought all previous Battle Passes and already have all the mythic skins: new color palettes or weapon models could be added to the skins that were previously lacking, such as the Hanzo mythic. then Players could choose to purchase these with their excess currency.
another use i could think of, they could use the currency to buy the Battlepass content that came with a given skin. 10 currency for 10 lvls in a Battlepass you missed? Something like that. So that way you could slowly earn everything you missed for free.
P.S. 70$ for a once 10$ skin THAT WAS TIED TO A WHOLE Battlepass is crazy in my opinion

Given just how many people out there who aren't active in the OW community conversation and won't complain about the pricing, they will most likely splurge that amount of money to unlock the mythic skin instantly. For most of us, grinding Battle pass freely to unlock premium should be more than enough. Just hoping that all the employees, devs, artists, etc are getting bonuses for all the profit blizzard get from this new changes.

Wow. 8x increase for a skin that was essentially 10$ for it and everything in that seasons pass. I have all the previous mythics and this doesn’t even effect me, and that is still absurd pricing. You could buy a game and and items for it for that price, let alone the fact that most of the mythics are not even worth 10$, let alone 80+$, Orisa, Hanzo, Genji. I also don’t like Flats’ comparison to other games unfortunately because I’ve seen 100$ plus items in Apex, In Valorant, in CoD. 100$ is gonna get you some crazy weapon or skin that probably does a million things and you can use it whenever you want. I’ve seen weapons you can twirl around and use in Apex and although hierlooms are worse you can earn the shards/open loot boxes for the weapons. Valorant has so many skins, I’ve seen dragons pop out on end round kills. Shit it wild. COD may not have crazy stuff, I haven’t played but from what I’ve seen you can dress like Godzilla or a celebrity and all sorts of shit. I’m just sayin Mythics aren’t up to standard imo, if they just made these 10$ bucks I wouldn’t even have an opinion on it, but even the best mythics sorta lack in comparison the moment you slap a games price and then the snacks for an all night bender on it for the price tag. If you like JQ and get her mythic and every enemy uses Zarya upon seeing you play JQ your 80$ purchase is no longer viable since you’ll lose if you don’t swap, and most likely get flamed for it too. Imo extremely scummy on blizzards side, business or not.
The 20 extra prisms are better than in most gacha games. Usually the little extra is only usable if you buy 4 like Flats said, but here you could use them finish out a skin if you didn't complete the battle-pass. Say you only get to level 58 before the season ends, you'd be 20 short of getting the whole skin. I'm not saying it's good, I'm just saying I've seen WAY worse.

Honestly, I'm okay with the price being where it is in terms of microtransactions OverWatch really isn't that bad the mythics are a little pricey but I really don't mind. I like the satisfaction of earning the skins

Overall, the system is great. I dont really mind the whole unlock thing. That's how it was when the skin was in the BP. My only issue is that it's too expensive to just unlock a hero
50 prisms is waaay too much imo. You would never be able to catch up on getting every skin like that. Why not make it like 20-30 to unlock the initial skin? That way, you can have 2 skins a season and unlock them slowly.
And having the 50 prisms be $40 is kinda scummy. Now you have to spend an extra $30 just to get 80 if you so choose. Just make it 80 for $40 or even $30. I just never liked the way games would just resell a really cool skin, but triple the price
It's not like they're paywalling a game feature by making these prisms purchasable: it's literally just a whale option with a very clear alternative of $10. And it's sad how this new good feature is overshadowed just by the currency price without any context.
absolute digraceful pricing. very predatory but not unexpected. that being said, just give people the option to trade in old mythics for different ones. for example ive seen people not likinmg the hanzo or the orissa one but they do got the battle pass. so we should be able to trade those for the genjis one or the junker queens one.
it's a little sad that if they put "you get the entire Mercy mythic OR you get 80 prisms!" people would unironically be more supportive of this system even though that would actually be worse than what we have. bad currency optics have gotten people complaining about systems that were already in the game since launch.

I only care about the Genji and Tracer mythics and I own the 2018 Atlantic all stars tracer skin and I love it so I’m just going to focus on cyber demon for now I only have OW1 Seoul Dynasty for him I need more variety. You’ll never catch me spending $80 for a second mythic though I’ll just wait for next season for another battlepass

well fortnite, 25$ = skin, back bling, pick axe ( most of the time) and most likely a specific emote w/ sticker... over watch is 80$ for straight up purchase for just the skin with some customize able changes.
People also have to realize they have to wait 2 seasons to get the mercy skin. If you forget you’ll have to wait ~6 months

they intentionally overprice it because they KNOW not everyone will buy it so that they can keep the value and rarity of mythic relatively similar. if it was cheap then it devalues mythics and the reason to get the BP instead. ofc whales buy it which is good for them as well. its literally two birds with one stone for blizzard, whales get to buy everything they want and normal people also get to choose the mythic they want through the BP. its a W for everyone involved and the only people who don't think its a win are those who think a W for other people is an L for you. Just take the W and move on man.

To be honest, I don't think the price is as bad as people try to make it out to be. One, it's purposefully expensive so people grind and choose 1 (one) skin for the mythic instead of buying it. (Buying 10 bps (at a set time) at $10 is better for numbers than a one time purchase of a $100) I think the plan was originally to let you choose between the current mythic and one of the old ones, not give you the possibility to buy all of them if you wished it. Some people however make it sound like they are the devil incarnate to do so while forgetting the good part of it: they're giving the possibility to get them, they were supposed to be exclusive to each season. Also, $80 seems a pretty fair price if you compare it to the other skins' price in game. A legendary is $20 so a mythic costing 4x time that price doesn't seem bad to me, especially with at least 6 time (eg hanzo) the customisation of it + the different sfx and vfx. There are far worst prices out there for far less.

what do you mean? you don't have the new Mercy mythic, you get enough Prisms in this battle pass to get every tier of the Mercy mythic, by the end of the battle pass you'll have every mythic skin again and 0 prisms left over. it's exactly the same as if it *was* Mercy at the end of the pass. it's just that *instead* of the Mercy mythic, now people can get a different skin, or only unlock some of the customizations.

Wait so if I spend the 50 Tokens on mercy but save the 30 for next season, if I realize I want to upgrade mercy will I be able to next season as I have already unlocked it, or do I need to wait 2 seasons for the Upgrades also?
Unknown if owning the base will allow you to still get the upgrades. Safest way is just upgrade it as much as you want now. Or save, its not a big deal

This is a good change, all it did was make so it so you could choose the mythic you want without taking anything away.
Personally, time gated rewards are BS so I'm glad they added a way to get them outside of their original season but dang is that overpriced. Glad they made it so getting them from the battle pass is easier, that's insane.
The way i see it, the whales supporting Overwatch 2 is completely fine for me because the game is no longer pay to win. You can enjoy the entire game for free AND get cosmetics for free while you're at it.

Only gripe I have with the mythic prisms is that you only get enough for 1 skin if u buy the pass. I think instead of 80 prisms for fully completing it should be 100 so over time you can unlock more
