    oh my goodness ! praise the Lord, I ordered this patter for my daughter years ago. There were no instructions but I held on to it because I like the blouse so much. I did not realize that I can go on line for instructions. God bless you.

    Hi Whitney! Thank you sooo much for all your sew along.
    You are amazing at explaining the construction of these patterns.
    I know you have to branch out to different pattern brands (for the sake of your channel) but because I already have a huge collection of the big 4 patterns, I tend to only look for your big 4 sew along because I have such difficulty understanding their pattern instructions.
    You have such an amazing way of simplifying the big 4 instructions and I thank you for that.
    I wish I knew about the independent patterns before my big 4 collection as I hear the instructions “hold your hand” through the entire sewing process.
    Oh, well. I’ll just have to rely on your big 4 sew along.

    I like the appearance of the Teddy. Looks very nice. I can imagine lots of fabric options: lightweight Linen and heavier up to 8 ounce Denim, and even sweatshirt Fleece. 'Long neck' perfect or 'short neck' alteration (Hahaha, like I would need!) the Teddy will look so sharp over a turtleneck during the colder weeks during late Fall and Winter. Looking forward to watching the sew along. Right now I’m trying to get my pants sewn and cut up a couple of simple tops to sew while I’m down in Florida. I can’t believe we just have a little over a month before we leave. I would love to sew this in the tunic.

    Style Arc has a detailed video making this with all the facings and interfacing coming together but it looks so very very bulky where they meet on that neck/shoulder. Maybe your P&P interfacing works better?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  Před 2 lety

      Fabric will definitely play into how bulky that area becomes, but I didn't find any issues with excessive bulk, except maybe a bit at center front. However, trimming things down in that area helped tremendously.

    I’ve loved the look of this pattern but I buy very few patterns that are just short sleeved as I I live where we can have frost ten months of the year. If you can think of a way to make it long sleeved I might go for it. Obviously, one could simply extend the pattern as given but I’m not sure the silhouette would look right. You have an artist in your family!

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  Před 2 lety

      If you're feeling adventurous, you could definitely draft a sleeve to attach to the current sleeve to create a long sleeve (similar to the expansion pattern of the Kalle Shirtdress by Closet Core). I also think this would be adorable layered over a turtleneck!

  • @lynnleipold2617

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  Před 2 lety

      I think you would need to draft a sleeve to attach to the current one, but it can definitely be done (it would be like the expansion pattern for the Kalle Shirtdress by Closet Core Patterns).

    Ok so now I need this pattern 😂. I have found that with most style arc patterns there is a lot of ease , and I usually need to size down at least 2 sizes also. And usually that isn’t the case in most pattern lines. So maybe that is an across the board thing. Thank you for sharing today and the video. I always enjoy them! 💜

    If I don't have a project in mind, I make a point to use the Joann's 50% off coupons to get the Guterman box thread assortment -that way if I get an impulse, I have a good enough match...Case in point, I stopped in to get elastic at my local store and saw a beautiful drapey wool (brownish) and a plump fawn colored knit and had to have it. and use it. Now. But since I don't sew with brown very often (my high school uniform was brown so ...) I didn't have brown thread in my regular thread stash...But I did have those thread assortments...BTW: pattern is Simplicity 8959-Kind of a history bounding vibe skirt and winter weather required turtleneck.....

    Whitney I appreciate your sew alongs and the time you take to make everything so clear. My questions with style arc patterns are which lines do I cut on when cutting out the paper pattern pieces? Do I cut the broken lines or the solid lines? I am so confused. Thanks

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  Před 2 lety +1

      The solid lines are the cutting lines and the dashed lines are the sewing lines. They put both on so you can be sure of the seam allowance as they often use multiple seam allowances throughout a garment.

    I have been sewing forever, one thing I always have trouble with is keeping straight right and wrong side if fabric is identical on both sides. Marks end up getting ironed or cut off. This is so frustrating. How do you identify them? Love this blouse, good transition piece.

    • @miriamcihal8409
      @miriamcihal8409 Před 2 lety +1

    Please monitor your recording volume levels as you switch from introduction to actual sew along. Also, when you make parenthetical comments, you speak softer than your teaching voice, so it's hard to know what your comment was. It sounds mumbled. If you would address these, it would make a helpful difference. Thank you.
