In the current version of the alpha, if you run ammo mutation on weapons with 2 ammo (including legendary cross / boomerang / boy’s axe) you will carry 3 ammo
the ammo mutation double your BASE ammo, which takes 1 to 2, and then legendary modifiers like “+1 ammo” are added. same with how the “+3 Ammo” modifier isn’t affected by Ammo mutuation
That was solid thinking on the Spartan's Sandals for the spacing, but I would think the real move here would be Rooting or slow to keep enemies in the Cross target zone. I'm surprised you never considered pairing it with Boy's Axe or Crusher in particular.
Also, Conjunct for the first boss?? Seems like the perfect choice would've been Mama Tick. That thing would have chewed her right up!

Cross + Whip is a cool little combo as well, the tip of the whip hit exactly as far as where the cross does it's whirly thing.

The cross has the same sweat spot as the whip, though I think the size is greater, making it a good pairing with the valemount's whip since it engrains the correct distance in you, and the damage of both critting on the same monster is pretty much one of the most rewarding instant kills, especially if you have some kind of synergy on top. Vampire killer pairs with firebrand, valemount pairs woth cross, and while either paurs with axe, I think the morningstar works best. You can mix ever which way (still dreaming of that +40% on burn + oil on hit valemount's to pair with firebrand) but those three duos I feel make for the best castlevania builds.
Really good showcase of new maps items and bosses
I did this before, and the best strat for larger, heavier enemies (Oven Knight, Pirate Captain, Golem, and that other one in Cavern) was to throw the cross first, then kick the enemy.
A lot of times I’ll use cross, boomerang, and then alchemic carbine in the backpack (the skills/secondary weapons can vary, but usually it’s something like electrodynamics and crusher just for the support) with acrobatipack and tranquility (usually I’ll use gastronomy for biomes and it’s variable for bosses), and it’s super strong. I’ll try to run damage to poison on the electrodynamics and boomerang, and poison causing on either main weapon and a poison cloud on the crusher. S rank build.
Legendary version of Electrodynamics came with a poison the enemy affix (dont forget the 5 orbs floating around you) and its disguntingly powerful

Of the enemies are to my right, I sometimes throw the cross to the left and roll through it when it comes back. It hits each enemy when returning and will crit. Of course, there is no multi-hit. But it is another possible use for the cross.

Idk where to suggest viewer builds so I’m just gonna put this one here:
Rapier
Assault shield
Infantry grenade
Knife dance
Open wounds is great if you can get a rapier with +dmg to a bleeding target but it’s not necessary
The idea is to weave assault shield into your rapier combo to reset enemies’ animations and shred them with the lighting-fast rapier
Legendary assault shield is nice if you aren’t used to timings with the assault shield
A good combo is roll towards the enemy, hit them with the assault shield, do a 3-hit rapier combo, roll through them, do another combo, use the shield, repeat from the second roll

The cross with the infinite ammo thing in custom mode and corrupted power is almost a delete button for bosses
If you want to have some super dumb fun, try this:
- Enable hold attack to combo
- Enable infinite ammo on custom mode
- Get a cross, hold the attack button.
If you want some legit fun, I did some runs as the boomerang master, with Boomerang, Cross, and Laser Glaive, Put one in the backpack and you have 3 boomerangs at once!

0:05 lol Vampire Survivors got us all, lol the only reason I'm playing dead cells is because I wanted to play a Castlevania game because I was playing vampire survivors on my phone, was like eh Dead cells Castlevania dlc bundle is on sale right now lemme try it out, boom just got to 5BC today thanks to Alucards sword and shield xD

cross but infinity ammo is the vip wepon, i kill every bosses under 1 sec
Another similar synergy like the spartan sandals I found was with the Assault shield and the Throwing Axe! The throwing axe is pretty crappy up close, but if your in an enemies face, you can throw the axe, use the assault shield, and push the enemies into the axe as it falls.
Spartan sandals work with it too, but If a shield does it too, its just better.
