I've completed projects that I previously would never have attempted with the help of these videos. The instructions are simplified and easy to understand. In the last month, I have taken a bare storage room, and constructed a wall, drywalled, mudded, hung a door, put down laminate flooring, baseboard and casing, put up a suspended ceiling, and wired in lighting. Every step followed Shannon's instructions. It turned out great. Thank you.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I took an electrical class in the past, and the instructor used boards like what you have here. He has since passed, but I have fond memories of going through the boards to truly understand the hows and whys of electrical. Today I was replacing a switch that had a mystery set of wires coming into the box, and thanks to you, I was able to figure out which black wire was coming in and that one of the outgoing wires was going to a box that had been disabled years ago. I really appreciate that you put this out there...this was the refresher I needed. Thank you so much!

I was looking for a video to fix a problem I had with a new light switch blowing my circuit breakers. When I saw Shannon's video, I stopped looking for other videos as I knew from other videos he is the guy to watch. He explains things so easily. I found from his video that I needed two black wires attached to my light switch instead of one black and one white. Fixed the problem immediately and only took 5 minutes. Thank you Shannon for this video and your other ones. They are so helpful.

This is so incredibly helpful. We are renovating our basement, and I have been moving switches around, rerouting wires, moving thermostats, etc for the new setup. But some switches have only white and black wires, and others have white, black and red. I never understood what I was doing, except for how to shut off the breaker, test with a multimeter, and re-hook everything back up exactly how I found it. But this explains the concepts *behind* it, which is very helpful. I want make one switch control two lights (currently, two separate switches), but I hadn't touched anything because I didn't understand what I was doing. Now I do. It's like a light bulb went on in my head and it all makes sense. Pun intended. :)

Great Video! Just a side note for enthusiasts and apprentices: In North America it's required by Code and considered best practice to have your Bonding Conductor (bare copper) secured around the Bonding Screw in a CLOCKWISE manner. This ensures that as your tighten the screw, the conductor becomes tightly secured down under the screw. Cheers
