    The police investigation was "adequate"?
Two girls are dead, one of them sexually assaulted and the killer was never convicted.
I don't think that is adequate.
So much about this story makes me furious and I can't even imagine the pain and confusion that the families felt.

when we got told Cindy was a minor i lost my shit, i was mad before but im even more mad now. Why the hell wouldnt they charge him for messing with a minor? not like she magically flew out of the car and landed / got put down in that position, plus she was alive for however many hour(s) after the crash, safe to assume she would have fixed her clothing if able. I cant believe this guy walked free and how little the police did to actually cater to the mother of the 2 daughters. fuckin gross

You have put it so well this is and absolute outrage who what running the legal body in Australia back then ,and are there any less racist than back then that’s a question that needs answering , why where samples taken from Cindy to identify whether she had been raped / interfered with after death ,however it was put , and young girl with terminal injuries is not toning to be in any position to do anything , let alone offer sex , this line of evidence is utterly preposterous! Why did this even qualify as a testimony ( it sometimes obvious that police and legal system is predominantly male ) this case was a disgrace , and the way the family where discounted and simply not informed of certain aspects it breathtaking . It is unbelievable

@@goldstar846 My guess is that both girls were ejected from the car during the crash while man wasn’t due to being much heavier. I also do believe Mona Lisa was driving, but did so out of necessity. With Grants BAC being 3x the legal limit HOURS after the crash, he was definitely in no state to drive at that time.
I think Cindy and Mona Lisa accepted the ride from Grant, not realizing how drunk he was. I think he continued drinking with them in the car, becoming too drunk to function or passing out behind the wheel. Realizing they were in a dangerous situation, Mona Lisa asked to drive. I think it’s very possible that the crash could’ve been caused by Grant becoming belligerent or hassling the girls in some way. With Mona Lisa’s inexperience, I don’t think she would’ve been driving very fast unless she distracted or felt she was in danger.

I listen to interesting audio to distract when my pain is unbearable, and having to move when I barely can anyway every 2 minutes to hit 'skip ads' is infuriating. I prefer listening to podcasts through YT when I can because you can actually have a conversation in the comments, but times like this make me think I'm gonna have to listen to this one elsewhere so that I only get the sponsor ads.

All the theories at the end seem to be tenuous. Would extended family and other local aboriginals really agree to kill two young girls in cold blood for a bit of money? Not mention, even with the flawed investigation I think injuries from an axe would be plainly visible to medics, police and the coroner .
Second, If Grant slammed on the breaks and the girls flew out how would he then roll the car in a way that would ensure he wouldn’t be injured? Not to mention he was wasted out of his mind, seems like too much planning for some idiot drunk to pull off.
It’s obvious he’s at fault for the crash, that he interfered with Mona Lisa’s body after the fact and should have been convicted on those charges. Their family deserved better, deserves better.

She was 13, the “driver”. Her own family said it was very unlikely she was driving his vehicle because it’s a manual transmission, and she’d only briefly ever driven an automatic.
The cops were IDIOTS for not fingerprinting the vehicle in the first place. That dude sexually assaulted a 15-year-old, and tried to say she asked for it. Do you honestly think he wouldn’t lie about being the damn driver??
What charges?? Australia in the 1980s, who even knows what kind of laws they had on the books, but in the US in the 80’s, stuff like drunk driving was only also being taken seriously, and this guy would be charged with drunk driving, rape and voluntary manslaughter now. That’s 20 years, minimum.
