Today We are in Viking Territory Camping in a roof top tent on a very cold night. come with me along for the adventure. Following the Battle of Edingham in 876, the Danelaw was established, placing eastern Mercia (which included the whole area now known as Derbyshire and the Peak District) firmly under Viking rule. The boundary of the Danelaw pertaining to Derbyshire lay along the border between Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
