@DriverLineup If you figure the hours that you put in away from home, you don't make near enough. I used to pull a reefer(mostly Tyson).I know how much time you spend at those cold storage places and supermarket warehouses.I have far too big of a mouth to do that again. I tend to tell those disrespectful people what I think.
@@JohnLee-ud2gmyou’re not wrong , I don’t think most OTR drivers take into account how many hours and time they spend working when they compare to local. I used to be a Company driver for Prime years ago, 3-4 weeks away from home and only home for a few days a month take a toll on you , thankfully I was single at the time couldn’t imagine doing it with a family. Those hours and hours at docks ain’t not joke and it’s unpaid time unless you can get some detention. Then I worked for JB Hunt running dedicated regional home every weekend hauling fiberglass, game-changer no grocery warehouses meant I could do 3000 miles in 5.5 days so higher pay home more often. Finally 8 years ago I decided to haul fuel locally 5 day work week home every day and pay is more when you factor in only working 5 days a week. Eric probably makes more as a lease driver when rates are good but is it really worth the sacrifice? Just to show the difference in work/life balance , at prime I had about 4 days a month home that’s only about 48 days a year at home , at JB Hunt I was home about 1.5 days a week or about 78 days a year now I work just 5 days a week so that’s over 100 days a year plus vacation and PT time and home every night just like a normal job . There’s a reason they call OTR a lifestyle because you have to pretty much give up your life to do a job !
about 8 years ago, I had shingles on my head, near my eye. It was extremely painful, felt like someone hit me over the head with a baseball bat. I was in the hospital for a week. They were giving me some very powerful antiviral medication. Weird thing about it was that one of my coworkers had shingles just before I did, but the doctor told me it is not contagious, but then put me in a private room and the nurses all had to wear N95 masks, gloves, disposable gowns and face shields (similar to what they were wearing during the early part of the Covid pandemic) whenever they came into my room for the first few days I was there.
It’s sort of contagious… contagious if someone is exposed to a popped blister and they never had chicken pox. Super gross visual but is what it is. Additionally your immune system is destroyed at that point so the PPE is as much for your protection as theirs. Sucky situation for sure.
Unfortunately for me I am allergic to all the antivirals so I am just having to push on through it was natural remedies. Fortunately I can take the antibiotics for the Lyme though lol.

@@JennaOnTheRun1776 i don’t have it now, i had it a few years ago. it’s rough. i was on a super high dose of antibiotics for 3 weeks. hang in there, it gets better.
