She didn't hold back. Some songs don't require much. We know Fantasia can sing and can go there vocally, but she can also give a subdue performance and still be just as powerful. She doesn't have to turn every song into a gospel song to make people feel. You will feel her regardless.

I would have told my younger self:
1.Take mom's advise while in college major in something that will bring me a good source of income
2. I would have had a child regardless if I was married or not...
3. After my divorce at a young age would have told my younger self to Shake It Off and go out there and get the love and happiness u rightfully desire and deserve..
3. I would have married J. Rogers instead of being for the streets...but damn it was fun the boys loved my dark skin azz and I loved them and their money....

I just watched ‘The Color Purple’ for a third time last night, except this time, it was with my mother & 10 yr old sister.
In every second of the entire movie, I don’t know how, but me and my mother’s hearts were intertwined. We felt the weight of the movie and together watched Celie’s beautiful story unfold. My mom cried, I cried, my sister laughed at us crying😂, and then we all laughed. A Mothers Love sometimes feels like it can stop time. I don’t know why, it’s a little scary sometimes, because I don’t want the feeling to leave, but I realize that, the way to keep it, is to lean into it. Lean into your fears, lean into what you want to say , what you want to do. Because, like this song, the YOU that YOU WILL become, will thank you for it.
