Forgot to mention it in the vid, but thanks for the 7k subs! It’s so cool to see the channel growing, and I’m so pleased you guys are enjoying the build guides. Many more to come! Thanks for being here!
More than deserved!
@@jallybwan3767 🙏🏼
I think it should be far more than 7k, honestly criminal to think that you're work isn't more recognised
Love your work btw!
That’s really kind of you Ragezerker. I only started my channel a few months back, so 7k is pretty mind blowing for me. Glad you’re enjoying the vids!
I subbed after I watched you murder Alex and milicent
Any build where you complete Alexander's questline is a good build.
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
Interesting fact for fighting Renalla with int builds: Rock sling does physical damage, so it’s really good for getting around her high magic resistance.
I would also add that Astel and the other enemies like him are all weak to gravity. Just Spam Rock sling, then use Carian Grandeur.
Fun fact in case it hasn’t been mentioned before, when talking with Alexander at Mt. Gelmir you can stand on the rock to the left of Alexander to talk with him. You don’t need to stand in the lava right beside him and take tick damage.
What are you talking about? It's hardly lukewarm
Fun fact: you can actually get a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone very early by doing Varre's questline when you met him at the Rose Church in Liurna of the Lakes. He usually spawns there after you have defeated Godrick, at least from my experience anyway! First thing to do is talk to him at the church and he'll ask you about the Roundtable hold. Click the "They didn't seem right" dialogue option and he'll say something irrelevant. But if you talk to him again, he gives you a bloody finger afterwards. Then, after that head to Atlus Plateau and go to Northeast of the Writheblood Ruins till you see a red invasion NPC sign on the floor for a guy named Magnus the Beast Claw. Kill him and you'll get a bunch of goodies (Furcalling Finger Remedy, Somber smithing Stone 6, Great Stars weapon and a rune Arc). Now, head back to the Rose Church and talk to Varre again. He'll then give you a cloth to soak the blood of a maiden of. There are a few options here; there's a dead maiden in the Church of Inhibitation and one also in the Chapel of Anticipation. What you do is go up to their corpse and a button prompt should appear, click it and then your cloth will be soaked in blood. Head back to do the last bits of dialogue to get your true reward. Offer him your finger and then talk to him twice. Do that and you will receive from him an item called the "Pureblood Knight's Medal". This item will allow you to travel to Mohgwyn's Palace and it is the only option you have of getting there in the early-mid game. Then the rest speaks for itself. Head up the Palace (ignore all of the Enemies there) until you reach the site of grace that's next to the boss, find a way to fight/get past the large group guarding the chest which has the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone without getting ganked/ spotted and then claim your prize! Hope this helps! Sorry if it's a bit long!
To summarize what this guy said you can get the somber ancient dragon smithing stone in a chest in front of the elevator before the mohg boss fight that’s located at the palace of blood. You can enter the palace of blood once you complete varres quest line after beating Godrick the grafted
Bruh where you get all this free time ?
@@thetrueking6137 Thanks this was more helpful lol
You didn't need to write that fucking wall...
Funnily enough, you don’t have to beat Godrick to do the Varré quest, defeating any Shardbearer will cause him to relocate to Rose Church in Liurnia.
I've restarted Elden Ring 28 times at this point. I completed it as a samurai on PC and then a flood took my setup and home. These build guides help keep the game fresh for me. Thank you for the hard work!
With regards to Alexander’s quest line- in my first playthrough of the game I never encountered him in limgrave or Liurnia, I just met him at Redmane, talked after the Radahn fight, then went to his Mt Gelmir spot and had zero issues with completing his questline. I know everywhere online says you need to free him but I’ve done the same two more times since, and all times I’ve been able to complete the questline without freeing him from the holes.
Oh that’s very interesting! I’ll have to be pretty brave to try that as it’s a run reset, but will give it a go! Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming I have also accidentally progressed too far into the story a few times and missed freeing Alexander from the hole. He was already gone by the time I got back around to it. However, I talked to him at Redmane Castle and again after Radahn. I was still able to talk to him at Mt Gelmir and Complete his quest line in Crumbling *whatever its called*. So yea... everything before Redmane and Alexander is irrelevant.
@@ThingfishyGaming I just did a test run on NG+ and I can confirm that Redmane and Gelmir do seem to be the only necessary meeting points. I've uploaded it if you want to check anything. Thanks for the great content dude.
Mate, that’s so helpful, and insanely kind of you to test. I’ll be using that and shouting you out in a future guide (assuming you don’t mind me using a screen grab?). Thanks for watching and thanks for testing it!
@@ThingfishyGaming no worries mate, feel free to use anything you like!
There’s something aesthetically pleasing about these videos. Be it the intro montage, the background music or the narration, but somewhere along the way, it just clicks and it no longer feels like you are watching a guide but a condensed journey, a story of this character you saw rise from nothing to become an Elden Lord.
Couldn't have said it better myself
He really makes it feel more like a movie than a guide. The constant flow between serious walkthrough and comedy adds a lot of charisma to the format
Just wanna let you know that you don't need the cursemark of death for Ranni's quest, if you reload the area you can go to renna rise without it
Tip for giant on the bridge 21:10
-if you use dismount L3 (while standing still), the amount of time your character has to get of the horse you will be invincible for a short amount of time. You can use this trick with the horse at fire giant & dragons in the overworld as well.
Awesome video btw! Your editing skills are great, calm voice + good articulation of your words and the way you bring in your humor & own personal thoughts you had during playing the game is just *chefs kiss*
I've watched the intro of this video for at least 10 times now. It's just perfect 😊 keep up the awesome work!
Beat Elden Ring as my first Soulsborne game today, and started following this guide around the time I got the Dark Moon Greatsword.
I had an absolute blast piloting the build- melting boss health bars scratched all the right power fantasy itches. Didn't use the Helphen's Steeple much either, as I personally found it took a little to long to rebuff both swords.
Oddly enough, I think my favorite fights that run were Melania and Godfrey/Hoarah Loux. I had to play a little more patient versus them and be more aware of what openings I could take to smack the boss with my large stick.
Love the videos too, they're very well edited, incredibly comprehensive, and yet fun to watch. Keep it up!
14:05 since you asked for tips, in this exact part, you can talk to Alexander on top of the big rock next to him, so you won't need to keep healing during his dialogue
I just finished the Pure Int build. Your guide helped, but I ultimately just didn’t have much fun with it halfway through. I think I’d have much more luck with a weapon based Int build like this one. Thanks again for your videos!
One more build suggestion. All your videos so far have been about OP damage. Maybe OP survivability is worth a look? I recently saw someone talking about Prayful Strike and Holy Ground for the ultimate “trading” build. But there’s a lot of protective options in the game. Bull goat armor. Endure. Ironjar Aromatic. Greatshields with Scholar’s Shield (I tried this one, it’s ridiculous with a bleed/frost spear). Just to name the more obvious. There seems to be ways to turn yourself into an untouchable tank. Dodging? Git gud? What are those?
So yeah, I’ve had a lot more fun with this build, and I haven’t even gotten the Greatsword yet. The Carian Knight’s Sword is fantastic. It’s fast, has a long reach, does a lot of damage with Int. And when you can get off a fully charged Grandeur, it absolutely wrecks! Even an uncharged Grandeur will do decent poise damage, and cause human/omen enemies to get knocked down.
Until I get the Greatsword, I’ve been doing more of a variation, with the Carian Knight’s Shield, and Carian Glintblade Staff casting phalanx and Magic Glintblade spells.
@@arellajardin8188 I am just starting exactly what you’re doing. Just int ashes of war weapons. Only extra is using only weapon sorceries like the hammer swords and bows. Glad to know it’s fun
@@DownloadEvony Since I was using actual weapons, I didn't find much use for weapon sorceries. I used Magic Glintblade for taking out enemies out of range of the Dark Moon Greatsword, and for invasions. Greatblade Phalanx helped with poise breaking. Loretta's Greatbow for extreme long distances. I had Terra Magicka slotted, but rarely found a chance to use it. And very rarely Rock Sling, for magic resistant bosses. Oh, and I used the Night Comet strategy for Malenia, because she dodges the DMG, and I can't parry.
Hey mate, another great video. Couple of runs I really enjoyed recently, beastial incantations using the clawmark seal and the regal beastclaw weapon, strength focus with about 30 points in faith, and a crucible knight build using the aspect of the crucible spells with ordovis' greatsword, lots of fun, really easy even on ng+, malenia vs a crucible knight is the easiest fight i've ever had.
I'm unemployed in the winters, and I've made making builds from your CZcams guides a thing.. soo.. if you could keep the uploads coming that'd be great! I like the full walkthrough vids more, rather than showcase, but I appreciate your videos more than you know man! Ty so much!
Thanks Thingfishy, this was great timing! I've been trying to do my NG+ Dex/Int run without summons and was stuck on Godfrey. Watched this vid, swapped to Moonlight Greatsword, beat Godfrey and have now slain Radabeast! Only Malenia to go, but I think she's a bit beyond me still. Missing your streams but loving the vids!
Awesome video! Just watched all your builds and glad to see the latest video about Dark Moon Greatsword, which I am currently running in my second run. I used Moonveil as transition until I got the Dark Moon Greatsword and have been enjoying the sword once I got my hands on it. Keep up the good work and look forward to more builds!
This is just what I needed to try out a new build I’ve been wanting to do. I also love your in depth build guide. Thank you my good sir and take my like and sub.
Dude you make some of the best Elden Ring build guides by far. I've currently been enjoying the dragon communion build you made and that's been great, but it looks like I need to do another playthrough already lol. I'm really looking forward to your future build guides.
I have also been playing that one and it's been great. I decided to use the claw over the maw to see what it could do and the claw is great when you have longer openings to chain into attacks.
Excellent video, as always! really love the intro!
Two things I always think of with your setup pathways:
1. When you get Radagon's Soreseal, you can quit and reload to avoid getting killed by the rats, then warp to another grace site. Helps to save some rune in my experience.
2. Completing Varre's questline is the quickest way to get a Ancient Somber Smithing Stone as it only requires killing one Shardbearer.
I actually followed on your Pure Intelligence build, but then started levelling up beyond your guide, and I added the Dark Moon Greatsword to it, as a means of conserving some FP, as because I thought it matched the build. I'm still throwing rocks for the most part, but seeing how the Greatsword is so useful, I might change that around.
use the Jellyfish Shield for synergy. its ash of war Contagious Fury boosts damage by 20% for 30 seconds. this is insane on its own but if you combine it with talismans, magic damage boosting flask and manage to set up a terra magica you will have some of the highest dps in the game
Damn, that intro felt like an actual movie trailer. Amazing editing!
This quest was epic, and so was this guide 👍
man you are crazy ty this so good I struggled a lot on my play through
These videos are so insanely well made!
Well F'in done! I love it!
Its really cool that you can get the Moonlight Gs that early in the game, I just love this game so much:)
It’s actually possible to get it even earlier, if you wanted to torture yourself! Theoretically you only need to fight Red Wolf, Renalla, Loretta, Radahn and Astel. But I think getting it here is a nice pace for most players. It really is such an awesome game. Thanks for watching!
this music in these build videos are so legendary love it ^^
I absolutely LOVE these builds and videos! If I could offer some feedback, time stamps would be amazing and if you could pause a little longer when you level and allocate stats that would be great. Even after playing Elden Ring, my reflexes are a bit too slow to pause the video at times haha!
Simply fantastic video editing skills. Very impressed.
Thank you for the guide! I used Moonveil over the Carian Straight sword cause the Ash of War is much better and easier to pull off, plus it fits better with the theme of the build imo. Either ways I loved this guide and hope you can do builds centered around other unique iconic weapons or themes. Perhaps a pyromancy build?
The dark moon greatsword is such a cool weapon! Watching you fight morgott reminded me of my 1st play through when I was really bad and could not do decent damage at all and then got the sword and was in shock at how much damage it did compared to my much weaker starting spells that I was still using.
Awesome vid. Absolute S tier quality. But there’s only one way to do a Darkmoon GS build. After prep, grab Moonveil, rest at any grace in Altus activating Redmane Festival, straight to Radahn, Ranni’s quest. Then go directly to Stormveil for the proverbial Margit beat down w/ Moonlight/Darkmoon GS. Now that’s Darkmoon GS early. Since they patched the glitch anyway. Awesome job mate, cheers to your success and really glad I found ur channel.
Have tried this build but the other INT build was so much stronger than this one finished the game for the first time finally thanks mate
This was my sign to do a strength int build with this weapon thank u sir
Thanks brother! I’ve never used the DMG, so this is the perfect reason to do so!
Yeah I can’t believe it took me this long to try it, but it’s stupid good! Hope you’re doing well, mate!
watch one of these every morning before work going to make this build tonight good content bro!
i ended up just duel wielding two magic swords at the start dps was surprising
awesome - very inspiring. thanks.
Never thought about dual wielding, I appreciate it
This is my favorite one so far! :)
great vid again what a masterpiece
Another good job Thingfishy. I have started a playthrough with the sword of night and flame which should segue quite nicely into this build.
Thanks, Out! Yeah I wanna try the SONOF again actually. Only ever did a meme build with it on original patch for a laugh. Hear it’s pretty good now! Thanks for watching!
This makes Radagon look so easy lol i have been struggling with this guy for hours
There is an opening to Radiant Starlight Shard a bit further in the direction of the gate (forgot which way that is), so you don't have to drop down
Yes, indeed! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic guide! Cheff kiss 😙👌
Some tips to improve the early to midgame for those that might find themselves strugling with the pre Moonlight phase:
If you don't mind looking like a clown, Rogier's set gives a 2% damage boost per piece to magic ashes of war and skills. This includes Carian Grandeur AND Moonlight Greatsword empowered charged R2s
Go get some hugs. Baldachin's Blessing gives you +35% phys res and effectively +50% poise in addition to outright preventing staggers from a wide range of weaker and not-so-weak attacks, making those charged Carian Grandeurs more likely to ignore minor interrupts
Freezing Mist is a very reliable source of frostbite procs against most enemies, especially the big and slow ones like Astel and you get it from Seluvis anyway. You can take advantage of the 20% absorption debuff to have an easier time against Renala. Or you can combine it with fire consumables like Roped Volcano Pots to abuse the %hp damage from the proc/reset cycle
Astel is less resistant to physical damage, making Rocksling kind of a viable ranged option to throw into the mix if you're strugling with the melee strat. Rocksling also deals some decent posture damage. On top of that, Astel's a Gravity type enemy, meaning he takes extra damage from Gravity weapons (Onyx Lord, Starscourge, Meteoric), and may or may not take extra damage from Gravity sorceries (testing required)
I'm not sure wether the Moonligbt charged R2s are counted as a spells, skills or both. It might be worth doing some testing with Snow Witch Hat for that juicy 10% damage buff vs Rogier's 2%
Good luck skeletons!
It took me a while to realize but something about ThingFishy reminds me of listening to CamelWorks talking about Elder Scrolls and Fallout Trivia.
It’s nice and relaxing.
This was great! Go for the Zamor hero set!
Honestly killing Bernahl at the war masters shack early on gives you his set which is pretty defensive all around honestly (better magic resistance than carian knight’s set)
Another amazing vid.
After spending 11 hours fighting Malenia with the Moonlight Greatsword, I do like that one can use R2 from a safe distance to bait Waterfowl Dance.
Spamming the beam during Scarlet Aeonio is also nice. One put can get 4+ hits easily while she's vulnerable after the move.
Hey there,
I don't know if it has been mentionned, but to progress in Seluvis quest, you don't have to buy any of his sorceries. You just have to reload the area 2 or 3 times (talk to him each time) and you'll be able to buy the second puppet.
It will allow you to save a nice amount of runes to upgrade your weapons or to level up.
Hello ! loved your video , by the way you can do rennala quite early with rock sling as it does physical damage and she doesn't negate it very well !
Nice video !
You always pick the most epic music! 😉
Another note about Alexander’s quest line, in my experience there’s only 3 required encounters. 1. Radahn 2. Mount Gelmir and 3. Faram Azula. I’ve done it this way on 3 separate play throughs and from what I can tell, all other encounters are optional
Same. I thought I missed out because he wasn’t at the first 2 spots when I decided to start his quest late in the game. I didn’t know about it. I went back to the Radahn battlefield and he was there. Then the other 2 as you mentioned and still got his shard.
I'm not sure if this was said, but I *think* the Spellblade set (Rogier's) actually increases the damage of the charged R2 for the bufffed Moonlight Greatsword
One thing for you that don't want to use Radagon's Scar Seal
The Arrow Reach Talistan, for some reason, works on the Beam. It will make it go further than usual if you want to keep the distance from enemies
Standing in the lava while talking to Alexander is sub-optimal. XD
You can talk to him from the safety of the rock to the left.
My first time beating the game solo was duel wielding the moonlight greatsword in my left hand, and the sword of milos in my right. I would use the ash of war on sword of milos to make frost and bleed build faster. It was hard to find windows to attack with most bosses. but when I did, it caused health bars to disappear.
That intro - is freakin amazing!
bruh i never comment on videos but that intro... you didn't have to pop off like that!!! I got chills!!!!
Another insanely well made video!!
Oh and Mr Thingfishy I was wondering about your vod channel I know you have stuff in the works and I was just curious about your plans with it.
But anyways thanks for the amazing content as always
The build I ended up using on my first playthrough.. but optimized! Very cool.
Now I can't wait to see the Thingfishy Endurance build guide. C:
Dude your intros are so epic
Glad you like them, Kalupi! Thanks for watching!
Your intros are sick as hell!
Thumbs up fellow moonlight enjoyer 👐🏽 did something similar after the patch but i straight went for the DMGS by just doing the necessary ones( loretta, rennala, radahn and astel). And i did that only with rock sling and about level 40ish with just the runes from greyoll and the nights cavalry. Wanted to play with DMGS from the very beginning haha.
So killing rykard is optional to complete ranni quest ..?
@@metheuscane719 Yes. Rykard is only for tanis/patches quest
You have to be pretty good to do these. No way I was ready for Godskin when I got to him following your guide lol. Not as simple as you make it out to be for sure.
I am absolutely loving your videos. You think you could link final attributes, wonderous and stuff? Also, would it be possible to do timestamps? I watch your videos so many times
25:03 That's why I put my flasks on the quick select menu instead of the down menu. No chance of getting having something other than them on an input.
Considering that Helpen’s Steeple isn’t necessary for the entire run since you were mainly using the charged R2s for Darkmoon Greatsword, you might as well have upgraded the Carian Scepter instead for spells or save the runes for endurance points…
about to try the build thx for the dope videos
Thanks for watching! Let me know how you get on!
@@ThingfishyGaming made it on my level 250 account I love that the game gives you so much freedom to do what you want feels like a sword art online build // keep up the dope content 🤙🏼
You don't have to go through the study hall, or get the Cursemark of Death in order to progress Ranni's questline. You can just go to the tower and take the teleporter.
I think hes doing that to show the Fortissax fight
After Chrigtt video on Weapon Arts, It's very interesting to understang how 60 INT simply catapults the Damage of the Moonlight Greatsword to absurd levels as shown in this video
I'm pretty late but if you wanted to kill Rennala earlier, rocksling is the only spell you need as it does physical damage. I used it in all my int playthroughs.
yeah, with rock sling and meteorite staff rennala is trivial
Faith Dex Black knife build needs to be done now. It's fun and you can even use the armor haha
The Intro was so Epic with that Song 😍 What was that? And omg i didn't know how beautiful the weaponart Looks on that weapon. Now i need to use it xD
Glad you liked it, Murdery. It’s called Supernova by Victor Cooper. Yeah it’s such a cool weapon. Thanks for watching!
That intro was one of the coldest intros I've ever seen
Bro you’re the best elden ring CZcamsr and your video are so useful
That’s really kind of you, Rio. Glad you’re enjoying the channel. Thanks for watching!
Ronin Armor pretty, Hoslow armor is decent, but Night Cavalry Armor with the head piece altered is my favorite so far
Thanks for this, Deedat. Will keep those in mind! Thanks for watching!
33:20 Quite old now, but for malenia waterfall, you can just dodge the second part by just walking sideways, and the third just step like 2 steps backwards and she misses everything.
Her attacks are designed to catch your dodge, but second and third if you just sidestep, they don't even hit
Ah perfect! I just started a carian grandeur playthrough, but progression into this is fantastic! Perfectly, my character name in my naming lore directly means queen of the moon :)
p.s. wheres the terra magica?
Watching the Lake of Rot segment, did you know about the trick to reduce damage?
Go into the water, roll, let it build up most of the way, then exit the water and it'll keep going up. But now you'll have normal rot instead of the accelerated rot that the lake inflicts.
Bro your intros is soo sick
Godfrey's talisman that boosts charged spells also works on the moonlight greatsword :))
Fishy, I honestly got chills listening to this guide when you described the ending of Ranni's quest. So well edited and narrated.
As for a future endurance/armor build, I love the altered Beast Champion's armor from Bernahl. It looks incredible with a cape. Unfortunately, it's an end game armor and you need Boc's quest line.
you can kill Bernahl when he's at the Warmaster's Shack and he still drops his armor set (and even his weapon)
@@bereisgreat oh nice thank you! Wasn't sure if he dropped the set or not.
If you could integrate map screenshots to the places for when you say a specific location that'd help
Btw you dont need to do the carian tower part for the door to the teleporter to be unlocked. If you quit and reload or teleport to a different grace the door will be unlocked.
Snow witch set would have been amazing for this build since it buffs cold sorcery (r2 of moonlight great sword)
Fantastic build! Love seeing Gideon get wrecked like that. 1.07 Gideon is a major pain.
Thanks, Terk! Yeah, it’s the most satisfying part of every playthrough for me 😂. Hope you’re doing well, mate! Thanks for watching, as always.
Rolling in the Rot makes you acquire the status much quicker than just sprinting.
I def want to try this, but yeah, I think I need more armor than you run around with.
21:38 for "decent armour" it's basically every heavy armor or anything it has high Poise which is important
I see a Thingfishy video, I give it a like.
This is why my life, skin complexion and disposition improved when I removed my flasks from the task bar and put them on the left and right directional keys of the quick select bar.
Sorcerer Rogier's Spellblade set (which you get by progressing Ranni's questline) increases the damage of Magic and Cold Ashes of War, which includes both the Carian Knight's Sword and the Dark Moon Greatsword. It's also pretty light - in fact, it's even lighter than the Astrologer's starting armor set for those 1.07 juicy light rolls. The only thing you'd have to add to the run would be killing the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the basement of Stormveil Castle, which is a rather small detour for a permanent 8% damage boost.
You don't need to kill the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, Rogier eventually dies and you get his set from his corpse in the Round Table Hold
@@cameronhubbuck Yeah, you right. I forgot that Rogier teleports to the Roundtable Hold after you kill Godrick, whether or not you progressed his questline.
ever since Otogi, the Moonlight Sword has been my favorite From Soft weapon
Doing this run now as well and DMGS is truly one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Only downside is its slow AoW, which makes some faster fights and Godskin gank fight a bit harder.
Nonetheless, I just rocked the meteorite staff and rock sling (pun intended) until I got the sword. Defeated Radahn & Rennala as the required shardbearers and only went back for Margit to get the talisman pouch. Was at roughly level 70 by that point 🤣
After rebirth because I have to do goldmask quest I use this build, it is really OP
There is a somber stone four between the int crystal tear and the grace at the start of the gorge towards makar
Thanks for this great informative video! I just picked up the MLGS yesterday and am looking good offhand. Might I suggest in future vids, calling them light attack, heavy attack, and skill instead of referring to the attack's as R1, R2, L1, & L2? I ask because a lot of ppl don't know that those do done they play on PC with KB/ mouse
