    Carburator. Switch to a solid needle instead of a spring loaded needle. Solid needles are designed to perform better taking sharp turns without booging out.

    Thank you, mine does that too, now I know where to start looking

    I know this video is old but for anyone who is just finding this video. I was watching a demo video for this boat and the sales rep actually explained this. Its a safety feature designed for towing skiers. I don't remember exactly why but a lot of ski boats have this feature. It might not be the issue but it also could be perfectly normal.

    I had the same problem on my Merc 3.0 135. The previous owner had installed the non-marine version of the ignition module and never used the heat-sink grease between the module and the mount. As the engine torqued in turns, the ignition would short and stutter. Once the boat slowed from the power loss, torque was relieved and ignition recovered until the next turn or in chop.

    I had a Oldsmobile that use to do that same thing when the tank was about 1/4 there were no baffles in the tank but the gas would wash away from the fuel pump and lose pressure as soon as the gas would make its way back to the pump it was up and running

    you most likely have a spring style needle change it to the non spring style it should fix the issue

    its the spring loaded inlet seat on the float change it to a reg needle and seat

    buy a carb kit, there are two styles for float valve pin. one is spring and one is solid. use the solid needle and it will fix the problem...

    OhmyGod. The best investment I ever made in my life was to buy a Mercruiser manual. The pages are well worn and blackened with many grease stains. I'm now very versed on Mercruisers. Yes. it's the float valve! I am sure of it.
    Oh... by the way, the worst investment I ever made was buying a Mercruiser. I also own my fifth Toyota Camry. I only know how to change the oil though. I have no knowledge of how it works, and I only own an operators manual which I hardly use.
    I think of my 2002 Bayliner as a challenge. Working on an engine designed in the 1950's, and still in production today, is a satisfying first chore on a fine sunshiny day of fishing.

      Wild Willie Float valve huh? I'm taking the boat to my mechanic soon for spring service, he thinks hit could be something in the fuel lines. I think it could be a spring loaded needle and seat issue in the carb but he does not want to pull apart the carb until we are sure that is the problem...

      I had a similar problem with my boat, it was a 1986 bomber fish and ski with a 3.0 and I did everything from carb rebuild to remove and clean fuel tank and lines, finally figured out that the fuel pump was going bad, replaced the fuel pump and it fixed my problem

    its the spring loaded needle in the carb. install the non-spring loaded needle. save yourself a ton of money.

    its the spring float in the mercarb that's bogging u out

  • @guyanesegamer1693

    It could be a safety sensor that's what happend to my boat

  • @guyanesegamer1693

    I some times think it's the fuel in the tank or the way the fuel system is set up

      Guyanese Gamer nope... it's the needle. The spring load will stall when turning.

    I had the exact same problem .. When I went to change my fuel filter .. They painted the inside of the bowl where the filter is housed .. There was a thin film of black paint it separated from the bowl choking the filter every time I made a turn .. Why mercruiser painted the inside of the bowl I will never figure that one out .. But the gas attacked the black paint making it act like Saran Wrap surrounding the filter ...

    • @nicksimpson2832
      @nicksimpson2832 Před 7 lety

      Domenick Bizzaro I just had discovered the same thing tonight. Why paint the INSIDE of the bowl?? Stupid!! Plus my filter was partially collapsed which choked fuel under acceleration causing a stumble so drastic I couldn't hole shot a skier.

    • @jamesarp3382
      @jamesarp3382 Před 5 lety

      They should stop painting (but won't) since most gas has ethanol which breaks it down. I switched to ethanol free gas and carry a bottle of Lucas fuel conditioner/stabilizer in case I can't find ethanol free while out at a marina.

    Ive never bought a boat before, nor know much about them mechanically, but Im looking at a 90's Mastercraft with 205 hours thats being sold at a local shop which sells boating stuff and new Supreme brand boats(they also service). I asked if I could take the boat out on the water and he told me he could run it on the hose. I said I wanted to take it on the water and he said, "Well its got some carb issues at higher rpms from sitting and older fuel, but if youre really interested, & put down a deposit, and sign a purchase agreement, we can take it out". Soooo whats the real scoop here guys? And, if he gave me the opportunity to pay for the boat w/a credit card, would I have a little more protection(recourse) down the road? Thanks!

    • @djmadera38
      @djmadera38  Před 9 lety +1

      WeSRT4 Not yet. Taking it to my mechanic in a few weeks. What kind of boat do you have, and what year?

    • @WeSRT4
      @WeSRT4 Před 9 lety

      2013 Bayliner 175. I only started noticing it when I went to a 4 blade prop. From my research it seems like it's the better handling characteristics of the new prop that is creating more force on the jet in the carb.

  • @mauriceramirez4886

    Pour bottle of seafoam into the carb and another in the gas tank which help to run better cleaning the chambers. Also look for a ground wire that may be loose near the trim pump

  • @phatmat2326

    The problem is it says Bayliner on the side of the boat. Which makes like a ford you can put all money in it in the world but it's still a piece of shit when your done.
