    If Gilmore Girls comes back, there are some questions we need answered! We feel like the show owes its fans a better storyline for Lane, they need to tell us who wrote the letter to Emily, we need to find out if Paris and Doyle get back together, we want to see if Rory’s book get published, we wish Luke and Lorelai had better communication, and we SO wish they gave Jess more screen time!

      I liked lanes story line. She said at the end of the original series that she would be like her mom and raise her kids the way her mother did. I think it was kind of weird that she was still in the band. They all looked too old to be in a band. I think she should have two businesses one is her moms store and the second would be cool to open up her own music shop or just to work at a music shop.

      I can see Lane & Zack staying in Stars Hollow but I agree with some of you. They should own a record store that could occasionally do business with Mrs. Kim or they refer people back and forth. It'd be cute if their kids were music prodigies or something with Violin or piano. Mrs. Kim would be all over that and it would drive them crazy! lol. I can see Lane & Zack being the type of people that would go out of their way to try to do family vacations & road trips where they spend half the time driving each other bonkers but loving every minute of it. And secretly glad to get back home. Brian could be a cool uncle in the kid's eyes and I'd love if they did a little more with his character as he was barely in it. & Gil could be giving guitar lessons or something. To me all their storylines were done very lazily. You can spend about 5 minutes on all of them in total, just a quick mention or a screen shot of the family's gallery photos showing them at a bunch of tourist sites, then one of Mrs. Kim with the kids as they hold up a ribbon each in one hand and violins in the other...or something to that effect. The fact it could be done so easily and we got what we did just shows there wasn't much thought put into it.
      I should write this...I literally just came up with this right now lol

      Maybe. To me, she was annoying. Plus, Lorelai never thought much of overweight people. I suppose there's nothing wrong with Sookie's heart expect for how she treated Jackson. I really didn't like how she forced him to get a vasectomy without even discussing it with him. She treated him like a child or an object in that episode. I'm not sure if I could be friends with someone that treated their spouse with such disrespect.

      How does Lane suck? Her mother was...a very bad word. She never allowed Lane openly express herself. She barred from many great opportunities because of her misguided spiritual beliefs. @madelyntoday7093 Před 6 lety +1

      How is it Lane's fault that her father was unavailable? He was probably scared of Mrs.Kim just like Lane was. Lane's mother never answered her questions and tried to instill a sense of shame into her. Lane was completely alone except for Lorelai and Rory, they helped her because they cared about her. One of Lorelai's redeeming qualities that no one seems to notice is that she is there for people, she genuinely likes people and wants to help them with their troubles. Lore has her flaws, but I would much rather be friends with her than Sookie or Mrs.Kim.

    Most people complain about the revival because Rory didn't end up successful but I loved it. It portrays real life hardships. The fact that the people who are most likely to succeed sometimes don't. It gives us a glimpse of rorys life as if she was a real person and not just some fictional character in a TV show.

    • @Crystal-hb9wo
      @Crystal-hb9wo Před 6 lety +73

      Nah. The thing is I would've found her struggles believable if the revival had picked up exactly where the show left off and Rory was in her early 20s. But she's in her 30s now and it looks like she learned absolutely nothing in the intervening time. She's unemployed but fails to complete a puff piece she's assigned, turns down a teaching job at Chilton as if that would be beneath her, and shows up to another interview completely unprepared and shocked that they're not just handing her the job. Her lack of success can be placed squarely on her shoulders from what I saw. We see Lorelei struggle so hard to make sure Rory had the best education and every opportunity possible. It was annoying to see that it was all a waste, that's all.

    • @madelyntoday7093
      @madelyntoday7093 Před 6 lety +32

      What I would have liked to see is that Rory did not get her dream of being mega-reporter or found out that that was not what she actually wanted and then found something that made her actually happy like teaching. To me, that's realistic. Because we don't get what we want or we realize what we thought we wanted actually sucks. I don't see series Rory being absolute failure so I think teaching would be perfect her, she loves academia.

    This might be an Unpopular Opinion but... I actually really disliked the revival. I mean, it had some good points but it either messed up way too much or undid a lot of development from previous seasons.
    Yeah...... this is gonna be a reeeeeeeeally long rant.
    Logan basically did a complete 180 and they literally threw ALL of his previous character development out the window. And I'm sorry but if Rory wasn't ok w/ an open relationship in college why would she suddenly be fine w/ it now? When it's w/ the exact same guy?? Also, she did the whole "other woman" thing before (w/ Dean in S5) and it very clearly sucked and she should've learned her lesson then.
    There was barely any Lane and practically NO Sookie which is just messed up- they're literally the closest and best friends of the 2 main characters, they should've had their own storylines that we should've SEEN. I did like all the Michel we got tho.
    I can't be the only one who wanted to see Kirk and Lulu married w/ a lil Kirk Jr. following him around on his various odd jobs because C'MON!!
    I have no idea what they did to Christopher or why. I get he's not a main, or even B list character (until S7 tho that's kinda pushing it) but like... what was his character's motivation to become like his father when we clearly saw it's not something he wanted in the previous show?? I did like Rory's confrontation w/ him tho. Long time coming that one.
    What in the HELL was going on w/ Luke and Lorelai?! Why in the world were they STILL not married after NINE FRICKIN YEARS??!!! And why were they still LYING to each other so much?! It's like the show forgot they did a timeskip! After 9/10 years together (if you count their dating history before the big breakup) they should've had WAY better communication skills and they should've AT LEAST BEEN MARRIED!!! You want ~*drama*~ for their relationship?? Then have them trying to have a baby but having difficulties conceiving for whatever reason (Luke not knowing if he wanted kids was literally the stupidest thing- he'd already said in the show he wanted kids w/ Lorelai when he bought the Twickum House and Lorelai agreed to wanting them too). The show could've ended on a happier note w/ Lorelai either discovering she is in fact pregnant or they could agree to adopt (I personally never saw this being something Luke would be against like ??? this was an odd one). You could even keep Rory's surprise pregnancy as a juxtaposition to Lorelai's happy, planned one.
    How is the father to Rory's baby unknown?? She was clearly having sex w/ Logan fairly frequently and since she and Paul (I literally had to take a min to rewatch the video to figure out his name because I completely forgot) barely saw each other we can assume they probably weren't having sex that much on the regular and there's no way in hell he's relevant enough to the show/plot to be a serious contender as the baby's father. I'm discarding the Wookie thing because seriously? No. It's sure as hell not Dean or Jess. That literally leaves only Logan.
    Lorelai going on a "journey" to "find herself" was dumb and executed poorly. However, her speech to Emily on the phone had me in tears. Goddamn Lauren Graham can seriously act. I love her.
    Emily and Paris were perfect. I do wish Paris and Doyle had stayed/will stay together as I do think they can compliment each other well and I really loved how Paris was worried about being a good mom to her kids. (there's probably a bunch of stuff I'm forgetting but this is long enough)

      MissJasmine305 It kinda seemed to me that the revival just ignored most of season seven, and I think part of it has to do with Amy Sherman-Palledino [i may have spelled that wrong, sorry] not writing that season. However, i don't think it should have been disregarded at all, as it really was. I think that caused a *lot* of the problems in A Year in the Life.

      I agree with you a lot. Except for Emily's storyline, I pretty much hated how they treated everything else. The way they portrayed Rory forgetting about her boyfriend, who was so blah I kept asking myself how they ever got into the relationship in the first place. Did she simply give up on her life so she'd be okay to be with just anybody? She acted so irresponsibly and unprofessionally throughout this mini series, I simply didn't recognize her as Rory.
      And Lorelai's wilderness trip (it wasn't introduced in a way that I could get on board with it) and the lack of communication between her and Luke ... come on!
      Also, that musical number .... hooooooorrrible. Yes, Gilmore girls had its quirky parts, but always kept in proportion.

    The reason Logan ended up back working for the family business and lost any character development we saw in the final season was because Amy Sherman-Palladino admitted she never even watched or read about what happened with the characters in the final season. The reason a bunch of the storylines seem wonky is because she just ignored everything after she left. Also, the revival was another case of what happened to How I Met Your Mother, the writers/creators have the idea of how it's going to end from the very beginning, but forget that in between stories/character development might not make that a reasonable ending anymore. ASP had the idea for the Rory being pregnant ending from the get go, but it just seems stupid now that it's so much farther in the future and not right after college. If they end up doing more Gilmore Girls (I doubt they will) I think someone else needs to be writing and Amy Sherman-Palladino needs to stay away from it, or at the very least understand Rory is not longer a teenager, and actually pay attention to the events of the final season.
    Sookie having limited screen time was due to Melissa's schedule, she didn't have time to do more.

      I agree. And Rory may be like Lorelai in some ways but her situation is completely different. She wasn't a child so...who cares if she got pregnant? And her dad & grandmother had money so she could ask for help if she needed it. Lorelai wasn't poor either. And Richard probably left her a chunk of money so she could take care of her & the child (I never understood how someone in her position could be broke, it made zero sense). The fact ASP didn't watch the final season shows her ego. Seriously, most writers & artists have egos but if they see something they like they go 'why didn't I think of that'? It's true respect - then you build off it. ASP could have taken the evolved characters, evolved them more & made new problems & situations. What we got were a lot of lazy storylines. Like we didn't need to see Luke & Lorelai's 'current' wedding. They could have had a flashback sequence to like, 5 years before or something.... What you don't do is completely ignore what, like 8 years from one to the other. A pregnancy at 16 (like Lorelai) is massively different to one at 32. I mean, Rory graduated high school with high honors & graduated an Ivy league school like Yale. Who cares if she became pregnant? I actually predicted the part years ago when the show was running so it wasn't like a big revelation to me. I would have been more surprised if she said 'mom, I adopted 52 puppies & I'm keeping them all!' lol

    ASP made it abundantly clear that Dean was Rory's first love/introduction to romance. She only got back with him because of the stress she was facing and because he was familiar and comfortable. Jess is Rory's Luke, rough around the edges, but matures over time, and ultimately becomes the dependable one that she can always find herself with and be happy. Logan is Rory's version of Christopher. Rich, charming, and suave, he is not a bad person, but he has a habit of throwing money at problems to make them go away or using money as a way to romance. As much as she cares for Logan, he is not the one she would ever settle with because his personality and station in life set them on different paths despite whatever feelings they share, much like Lorelei and Christopher. ASP had set the show up to prove that ultimately Rory is her mother's daughter, and would follow the same path, albeit with a slightly different course, and has always made it known that she shipped Rory and Jess, and they would most probably be endgame.

    The writer had said in an interview that she always knew from the start the last THREE words she wanted to end the show to, the "Mom, I'm pregnant".
    Amy and her husband actually didn't write the last season of the original series due to inability to negotiate contract aka didn't get enough money they thought they deserved, so that's why the revival was done, to finish how she properly wanted to.
    The writer wanted to end the story in a way that made it come full circle; Rory pregnant as a single mother, but with all the love, strength, and experiences her mother taught her. Who the father is honestly not important in the writer's eyes, Rory will raise (probably a her) on her own, that's why she had that super random but purposeful conversation with her father at the end, questioning whether it was the right thing that he let Lorelai raise Rory all alone, and his purposeful response of basically "it was just meant to be".
    The tone of the story was always the bonds of mother and daughter, and more importantly, the Gilmore Girls being strong independent women, each one of them having their own journeys of overcoming hardship through independence and the bonds between them, even Emily!

    Team Jess, hands down. Milo Ventimiglia plays Jess in "A Year in the Life" as if he were still in love with Rory. He was the most influential in getting her back to Yale, convinced her that in spite of recent poor choices, she still had more value than she believed & suggested & pushed her to wite the book, because he believes in her & has matued IMMENSELY! While it is unlikely that the baby is Jess's, I really believe that like Luke, he would stand by Rory & the baby, no matter what! I don't see Logan doing that. They have FAR more chemistry than Rory & Logan. While Rory DID cheat on Paul (w/Logan & the Wookie, the Wookie bit was priceless!), it was never a serious relatioship. Logan had a fiancée for God's sake! For ALL of the above reasons, TEAM JESS!

    Absolutely hated Rory's character in the freaking revival. I know people appreciate Rory having a realistic life but I think Rory's "purpose" was to learn from her mother's mistakes. Her mum was a wild teen who thought she knew better, Rory was always grounded and mature. She made some mistakes (sleeping with Dean while he was married, getting arrested, dropping out of Yale) but why couldn't she then learn from those mistakes and live the life that literally everyone around her set the groundwork for? The townfolk, her mother, her grandparents all wanted and supported Rory's success. Logan was compatible on paper but ultimately his character was too self-centered. Jess was immature to begin with but he grows up and becomes the grounded person that Rory ultimately needs to bring her to her senses in the original series and go back to Yale. I'm still hoping they'll end up together somehow 😭 Also I loved Tristan too even though they were never together 😂

Although if this is how it works out, it might mirror Lorelei a bit too much, but we'll see (if they even do a continuation).

      Yeah, but Christopher and Lorelei have a lot in common, that's why they got on well together, Logan may have more moxie, but he still succumbs to the same failings as Christopher, at best he did a better job at resisting it as well as he did (they both even end up being in love with Lorelei/Rory while engaged to other women, with both having some pressure to stay with the fiance they don't love).

    • @madelyntoday7093
      @madelyntoday7093 Před 6 lety +7

      To me its a completely different situation. L was 15 when she got pregnant; R was 32. I think Dean has more in common with Luke than Jess. They both do the right thing or at least try. They are both p-whipped for a Gilmore. I see no commonalities between the LL relationship and the RJ relationship. Luke has been silently pining for Lore since he met her she does really start noticing him until the 2nd season. Rory has an instant attraction to Jess. Jess has always been a take action kind of guy, but Luke has been doing the same thing for decades never leaving his small hometown. Luke has a grounding affect on Lorelai while Jess helps Rory experience life. If anything Rory helps to ground Jess making Rory Jess's Luke. Christopher and Logan? I suppose they have similarities. Chris is Lore's childhood sweetheart while that honor goes to Dean or Jess as far a Rory's concerned. Chris and Lore don't really seem to have much passion for each other. Lore told Chris that she wanted Chris to be the love her life but he just wasn't whereas Rory knows that Logan is no good for her, but she can't quit him. Like when she goes back to him even though she knows he slept with 6 different blondes during their short breakup. Honestly, Rory should just find someone new.

    • @lukehodge9026
      @lukehodge9026 Před 6 lety +8

      When Jess was a teenager he wasn't Rory's Luke, but as an adult he's more stoic, more grounded, and despite his feelings for Rory, doesn't say anything and just pines. By the present he's a lot like Luke, but with a sense of humour. Logan is like Chris less in the timing of their relationship, but more in who he is and his feelings etc. towards Rory. Rory may know she shouldn't be with him, but Logan's feelings and thoughts are similar to Chris, despite issues either relationship has, both L/C want to be with L/R, and keeps trying even when told it can't work (the initial main run of both relationships even end with L/C wanting to get married, albeit for different reasons). Dean is only like Luke or Chris because of the context of the character more than anything and both being 'small town' in Luke's case.
      Even the Show creators have said Jess is Luke and Logan is Christopher, so at the very least it was the intent.

We know from the original show that Trix wrote Richard a letter before they married trying to convince him not to marry Emily. I think Logan is Rory’s baby daddy, but I’ve always been team Jess and think he’s tried to become the man that he thinks Rory deserves. And if they were to do more episodes (fingers crossed) he would be the Luke to her Lorelei. Because Doucheberger is really the Christopher in that whole scenario. And there’s no way she wouldn’t keep the baby.

    I think in the original girls, Rory was very nice and compassionate to her family and friends, I don't know why the narrator of this piece said she was always cold and lacked compassion, it's just not true of the series years.

    I think it's obvious the way they're going to go for this. Have Rory's book become #1, make it into a movie/TV show, and then it goes to show us into the first season of Gilmore Girl's.

I agree with most of you about the cycle beginning again with Rory due to her ending the show with being pregnant. I'd like to see a Gilmore girls spin-off that focuses more on Rory's life since "I'm pregnant.". I'd kind of like to see a different turn where the baby's father steps up and they get (happily) married. Rory decides to teach at Chilton after all, and while there discovers and develops her strengths. Her adult married life is a cross between Loreli and Emily; upper class but down to earth and not snobbish and controlling. I definitely think Logan is the father. The Wookie happened in spring, and she announced her pregnancy in the fall, so at minimum, she would be about 13 weeks along. She kept forgetting Paul, so I doubt there was much intimacy. We know she was sleeping with Logan. It's slightly possible it could have been Jess, but nothing suggests they were together at all that I can remember.

    More Kirk is always top of my list. Jess was always a better partner for Rory. Intellectually and emotionally. They had the best chemistry and his character development was the best. Hoped that the baby was Jess's but I think its more likely Logans or Paul. Loved that Lorelai and Luke were still together. Lane deserved more. I always rooted for Doyle and Paris and was sad that they were divorcing. Hopefully they can continue the story.

  • @alissandra333
    @alissandra333 Před 6 lety +3

    There is no baby daddy mystery. Amy did a good job with separating the storyline into seasons. Rory is with Logan for the last time in the beginning of fall. Rory is staring at the changing leaves out of the window of the bedroom the next morning. She tells Lorelei she's pregnant the morning of the wedding. The sign at the wedding is dated November 2016. She would probably be a couple months pregnant by then. The Wookie was months prior, and Rory would have been pregnant through the rest of Spring, through Summer and into Fall. The timeline is pretty simple.

  • @ranikster9955
    @ranikster9955 Před 4 lety +3

    Loved the revival. It was in a roundabout way good to see, that their life wasn't as perfect, as I thought. Sometimes, during the series, it felt like, Rory had everything going her way except for the few times, she didn't. Now that I'm re-watching the entire series plus the sequel, I understand Rory, Emily and Lorelai better. Rory had been held up on a pedestal and had everything handed to her, and was treated much kinder by her grandparents, and everyone else, than Lorelai ever was. Ironically, that is what made Lorelai stronger and more mature, while Rory became more and more immature with every episode. Lorelai's star went up, and Rory's star went down at the same time. I was surprised by Emily's change. And Sookie came back :D I love Sookie. Her voice really has changed over the years. I just wish, Lane would be happy and Jess would be happy. It's such a wonderful TV/Netflix series
