    As international students affected by the age cap on 485 TGR visa we tend to look for some respite. But so far we are living in despair, completely devastated and helpless. Thank you as you have been standing by truth and fairness. We will need your support Karl.

    After losing my visa due to Covid border closures I did the V-assess skills assessment, which took 11 months to complete. Had I have known it would take this long of course I would have opted for priority processing. Nearing 40 now, I am on a knifes edges to try and get back to my previous life (7+ years in Aus with family in country).

    Conrad, your video has lots of information however you are forgetting that Australia needs highly skilled and experienced people who will contribute more to Australia. I am also a migrant but got tons of experience overseas before moving to Australia. I think you should be transparent to highlight that Australia needs highly skilled workers with lots of experience and not just newly grad from University It doesn’t make sense to get a cadet engineer for a highly skilled worker/ engineer required by the company. My point is to be straightforward to state that highly skilled is required and not just a pure education background, e.g. process engineers, mining engineers, geologists, petroleum engineers, drillers, riggers, wind or turbine engineers, etc.

    Hi AILS
    Just fyi, for some of those cases about the 485 where the length should have been 4+, and got 2 instead, DOHA has acknowledge an error and has communicated that the visas shall be rectified. It seems that there was an error with their system, which has been a common occurrence over the years with the changes to the 485.

    Can you comment on the huge 190 visa backlog? around 20,000 190 visa applications lodged between Mar - Jun 2023 have not received their grants. Most of their health examinations have expired (over 12 months), is it possible for the DHA to issue 20,000 S56 for health examinations in recent weeks? or they will have mercy and not send out those S56s. Can you answer that thanks

    I believe a Transitional Arrangement for Post-Higher Education Graduate Visa age limit such as allowing all graduates who studied in Australia before the migration strategy announcement of the migration strategy could be one of the most profound, just, and grandfatherly decisions Australia could ever make. ❤ I think immigration lawyers should come together to help the government see this. These students who have invested significant amount of resources to carry on with their studies with the expectation of an Australian workplace integration after graduation deserve to be treated fairly.

I strongly support reducing or even total ban on international students, its time for them to move to greener pasture. student visa price in Australia is now $1600, what a joke 😃, by the way, international students only work for 24hrs per week, that's the law, remaining hours they study or read and reply the comments on youtube

    I'm a final year undergraduate student in Britain, graduating in a couple of weeks. I spent 1 year at Monash as part of a study exchange programme and decided to apply for a masters which would've started in February 2025. I got accepted for the programme and have been racking my brain, trying to figure out how I'm going to afford it... now that the student visa has more than doubled in cost, I think I'm gonna take my behind to Canada instead 🥴 I'm getting hostile vibes from Australia's immigration dept, they might as well come right out and say "foreigners not welcome here."😪

      The way things are going in this country, I wish I could travel back in time and decline my PhD here in Australia. I would have not come here, had I known how hostile this country will become against migrants in general, and students in particular. But now I'm too far in to my degree and I sacrificed too much to give up at this stage. I can only hope that many prospective international students will choose other countries that are more welcoming for their degrees, as Australia has proven it can no longer be trusted at all.

Apparently, they were supposed to update all the status by 30 June, but few ROI status are still not updated and remains as lodged in the portal. In this case, should applicants withdraw the ROI and reapply when its open or leave it as it is? Since there is no information around this situation, your insights would be highly beneficial for the applicants who are stuck without any update even after the due date.

    Karl, foreign students are not a problem, the real problem is they do not leave Australia even after 10 years been in the country. They had opportunities to study and gain work experience, they still don't leave and the phrase 'visa hopping' made headlines everywhere. Migration agents are to be blamed for encouraging them to stay and test every visa category. Only if students returned back home after gaining work experience, we wouldn't have housing crisis for a start.

    • @julian_online
      @julian_online Před 5 dny +1

      I agree that visa hopping is an issue but to deny the government knew about it is disingenuous. There is a reason why they charge more for a second student visa renewal, they benefited from keeping people in limbo, at least this administration is recognizing it was a bad idea. Why did they allow full time work for students, they know how to leverage the people who just want to stay in times of need.

    • @ailsaustralia
      @ailsaustralia  Před 5 dny +7

      The visa hoping mainly occured bacuse of the pandemic and students were denied opportunities to migrate due to the lack of invitations given out. It was only natural they wanted to stay and wait for the invitations. There are only very limited mumbers staying more than 10 years

      @@Solidude4in the simplest of viewpoints the problems that locals view of foreigners staying long term whether legally or illegally is due to the fact that it is deemed as extra competition, and what I mean by this is that it is seen as competition for housing, competition for jobs, school enrolments, hospital admissions, access to amenities ect
      This is not the fault of foreigners legally coming in, and their pursuit of a better future is completely understandable,
      though you must take into account the social tensions that are created when generations of people who have been born and raised in country start experiencing reductions in their quality of life with with added additions from foreign born nationals
      Australia has not kept up with the pace and the government is solely responsible

    It's astonishing to see the Australian government's level of entitlement towards the International student community, still thinking they can get away with everything they just did, considering Australian universities are not really top 10 consistently in many of the university rankings. Charging $1600 per primary applicant and $2300 for subsequent student visas is just highway robbery. That's nearly half the amount of an 189/190 visa VAC without all the good things PR visas have. Nothing is taken for granted. It's just shocking to see Labor, a party that claimed to love the migrants, treat migrants so harshly in full panic mode that even Liberal's "decades of neglect" pales in comparison.
    With regards to the 485 visa 35-year-old age cutoff, I have heard that Green is filing a motion to disallow the legislative instrument stipulating that age cutoff. If that motion causes the legislative instrument to become invalid, DOHA would need to grant 485 applicants who are over 35 but under 50 again. That process remains to be seen.
