- Throughout the years, there have been many yakuza games released. And with each entry brings forth new characters that we can love or hate. Many characters may come and go, with some leaving a big impact on the characters in the game and each getting graceful send offs. However some may just up and disappear without saying a word. Let's look at each character that left without saying a single goodbye to anyone.

The Florist would have made 6's plot even shorter. He's way too overpowered.
They should've killed or retired him

Strange how the florist doesn’t even get a bucket list memory in IW considering how important he was to kiryu in the first 3 games
Purgatory gets a memoir at Kamarocho Hills and the Florist is mentioned in it, but that's all we get
Nor did Kuze or Shibusawa, which I found completely baffling
Kuze and shibusawa I get why Kiryu wouldn't want to think about them. But the florist was a close ally and Kiryu even helped his family. You would think he would at least get a goodbye even if he wasn't an informant anymore.

@@redbaronmars4176 at the start of the game when Ebina and Ichiban are talking by the docks, he talks about the 2nd great dissolution and mentions that they're also trying to involve the Ryudo family, Kitakata family (or whatever the guys who wore red were in Y5) and the Hiroshima Yakuza (either the Yomei alliance or the Hirose family)
@@DatisDHShorts The guys in red tracksuits were the Yamagasa Family, from Kiryu's part of the game. The Kitakata would be the ones from Hokkaido.
It was crazy how a 1/3 of the ryudo family was killed over the course of yakuza 3
Not sure if someone said it, but my headcanon on what happened to The Florist is that he retired and started becoming a dad to Takashi

I like to imagine it , or at least have heard it from the games after 5 , they completely vanished him into the shadow realm
Like it or not, RGG are amazing at creating characters that people love and then vanishing them forever
Another prominent character that disappeared not mentioned is Chief Junichi Sudo. Date's first partner in the series who seemingly disappeared after Yakuza 4.
Probaly got put in The car ticket departament after he helped a civilian journalist date drop some paper with The police helicopter.
@@samfire3067As sad as it is, that would canonically fit perfectly. Seeing as Horinouchi would almost definitely be Commissioner of Tokyo by the time of 5 following Munakata (then Deputy Commissioner) being exposed as a criminal mastermind, he had no reason not to do to Sudo what was done to Adachi. Hopefully Date mentions him or Ichiban gets to meet him. I’d still like to see Date pop in now and then somewhere like New Serena if we get to make a stop in Kamurocho just bartending and having a chat. He’s basically the only adult character from 1 who isn’t Kiryu’d or dead.

I'm kinda annoyed he wasn't there at the return to japan scene instead of a nameless policeman with date, it was the perfect place to have him return, but it didn't happen
3:10 The real reason we probably never saw Joji again is cuz his va (who also voiced Kazama) sadly passed from pneumonia. Won’t be surprised if his illness is what caused him to be replaced in ishin, have only like 3 lines of dialogue in 0, and remaster his audio for the kiwamis.
Except Kazama/Joji's VA passed away in 2020. Eleven years after Y3, five years after Y0. His Ishin counterpart was voiced by someone else who also passed away. So no, that is not the reason why Joji never came back.
@@oscarprudencio1799 Sorry I misspoke. I know he died in 2020. I’m saying that I wouldn’t be surprised that his illness (which was probably made worse to due to his age) is what caused said cast change and short 0 screen time before his passing. Didn’t mean to pass it as fact, although the reason we’re not seeing him from here on out is cuz of his death.

I wish they would have brought back Taichi Suzuki after yakuza 5. He was cool as fuck
But they did! you can actually play as him in infinite wealth, but people are stupid and think it's Kiryu (minor character from dead souls) i hope that one day we will be able to play as joryu again

I think its a shame we never got to see Kido or Arai again. They were two of the most interesting characters from 4 and I feel they have a lot of storytelling potential left in them, especially Kido trying to figure out what being a Yakuza means to him
I can explain to you why they never came back with a simple phrase: They are modeled after their actors.

Yesss! I really wanted to see him alongside Majima. Majima could have a spinoff game where he and Nishida appear as his offices.
I would've loved more focus on the Yakuza families anyway. Like, not only Majimas but also Saejimas which we know nothing about.
Even in a video about forgotten characters, Tanimura still gets forgotten. 💀Little Asia burns to the ground and he just dips forever.
shintaro/joji kazama's voice actor passed away in 2020
Watase was probably still out fishing or wrestling sharks when Kiryu rolled up to the Jima Shed and missed the entire endgame as a result.
the whole time i was watching this i was thinking “there’s no way this dude is gonna mention Hasebe” and then boom Hasebe shows up
Yokoyama randomly deciding Aizawa was going to be the final boss is hilarious, but he's a nice character
What hilarious is his script notes being included as dialogue.

it feels like a lot of stuff in yakuza 3 is just forgotten about by everyone
Feels more like filler than anything. Yeah we establish the Orphanage and Kashiwagi dying, but other than that the plot is so self contained (and terrible) that you could essentially remove the main plot from canon and it wouldn't matter.
@@literaryloser4470 not only that, RGG also takes the things they establish there in the canon and just retcon it by having 3 people that got killed in that game actually survive and come back in Yakuza 7 and 8, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Mine will come back for Yakuza 9 teaming up with Ryuji or something lol
Watase showed up in gaiden being a really important character in there, shortly after followed by infinite wealth where he didnt show up which is a shame but understandable because they probably couldnt bring every single actor for the game. LaD as a whole just has way too much characters lol

I always thought about doing a video on this subject; shout-out to Date’s detective friend Sudo who also disappears randomly despite being in several games.
I'm surprised Katsuya from 5 isn't mentioned here. I feel like he could have had a part to play in either LaD or Gaiden, given how close he was to Watase.
He's modeled after his actor. That should be explanation enough for him, alongside every other character with this feature.

Seeing as the yakuza games are written are written chapter by chapter instead of having a laid out plan from the get-go, I can see how a lot of these characters were just forgotten over time. But also, I feel like starting with y6, they wanted to revamp the series and get rid of the out there characters that just didn't fit their new take anymore. Characters like the florist, Bob, the fortune teller, Mac and komaki. Now, komaki did return, because he had to, but the others just weren't necessary anymore, and were just too ridiculous.
Hayashi was so fucking cool. I don't know why. The series really needed a no nonsense Yakuza.
Just a loyal and competent subordinate who gets sent by the Omi to get shit done.
He could've fought alongside Kiryu at some point or something.
And he had some cool ass themes too.
Unrelated but I hope we’ll have ichiban around for a while, his age worries me seeing as he’s currently 47 years old and RGG are weirdly obsessed with doing time jumps to the year the games are set and seeing as it will take 4-5 years for the next mainline game Ichi will be older than Kiryu was in Gaiden, it worries me because as a long time fan of the series since the PS2 days I hope we will have ichiban around for a long time.
Maybe in Yakuza 12 Ichi will be 62 Years old. 😂 but on the serious note. They could make him slightly younger. Like his brith year could have been 1980
That's a point I hadn't considered, and a very interesting one. RGGS making the games take place when the game released made sense as a practice because it both kept the setting current and also because RGGS used to have a "at least one game every year" policy, so you never really had that much of a timeskip per games.
Now that games take much longer to make, perhaps they should stop trying to set each game in the year they release in, specially with Ichiban's age being a factor. Granted Kiryu was a playable protagonist at age 55, and Ichiban is never leaving the RPG style, so maybe it could work well into his 50s. However I do agree it'd be best not to keep doing the timeskips.
@@DarkkirbyKRPG do you think a Ichiban prequel could work perhaps add Yamai do the mix i’m not sure it could work I mean ask an RGG fan pre 0 of a prequel maybe they say, like how could that work? I don’t know 😆
Finally some Nishida respect. I always found his character intriguing. He's a dependable, soft type that I can see someone like Majima taking a liking to (even if as a victim of his abuse). So many questions. How did someone like him get into the yakuza (and moreso the Majima family)? What's his rank? Since he's often shown as Majima's right-hand man it must be pretty high. Where is he post-7, since I feel like he'd be loyal to Majima to the end? How can such a non-character like him be so captivating?
unrelated but the scene in yakuza 1 when kiryu reveals he's the 4th chairman felt way more impactful when i was replaying it before 8
My headcanon with Hasabe is that he was possibly killed by Mine’s crew or expelled since he not only fought Kiryu but tried taking over Kazama family territory.
the ryudo family and yakuza 3 may be one of my favourites... yakuza 3 gets bashed so much, but i think it still has one of my favourite stories

They don’t really need to be in the plot, aside from fanservice. They’re cool but they’re not always 100% needed
And every time the 'jimas come back, their only role is to be jobbers. First they job to Ichiban and his party, then to Shishido. They deserve better.

Majima and Saejima don't lose to Ichi and crew, they just stop fighting after Arakawa and Dojima arrive.
As for Shishido, Kiryu wanted to deal with him alone so they let him do that.
There's an even better way to bring Aizawa back. So, he's a son that didn't care for his father's dream, right? Let's turn it upside down. A loyal son who carries his father's dream. Boom, not only Aizawa was anti-Kiryu from 0 (look at their suits, Kazama-Kurosawa parallels and final boss fights in 5 and 0) and Ichiban is reverse Kiryu but Aizawa was anti-Ichiban this whole time. Ichiban was planned since early 10s and the series is gonna end with Ichiban and Aizawa fighting for their dreams and the future of the yakuza!
He should've been part of Kiryu's Life Link instead of that nothingburger that was Sayama's
Not even an honorable mention of our boy Tanimura... I guess that's fair, most of the fandom hates him. I got into an argument with someone over Tanimura. They hated him just because he was a cop, and well ACAB applies to fiction characters, I guess

This video mostly focuses on characters that didn't get a sendoff or mention in Infinite Wealth. Tanimura, surprisingly, gets a reminiscence moment from Kiryu, regretting letting him drop off his life but also not wanting to put his career at risk by contacting him.
Same reason why Shinada is not mentioned by the video either. He gets a moment too.

Still hoping we get to see Ukyo Tatsuya again, either in a remake/remaster of the Kurohyou games or in a new game. Would love to see Shinada mentioned as well as Tanimura too

Hana isn't forgotten though. She shows up in 4, talks with Akiyama in 5, and is mentioned in 6 that he sent her home for her safety.
In 7 Akiyama himself doesn’t appear and only appears in 8 in two of Kiryu's life links, so there's no reason for Hana to be there.
Maybe in Yakuza 9 it will be revealed that the Florist is the master of Seonhee and he showed her how information gathering worked.
But then he appears out of nowhere, just to tell Seonhee that she still isn't worthy of the Title "The Florist"

Not sure if it counts, but Akiyama would've been perfect in Nick Ogata's place in 7 if you really think about it. They have pretty similar roles and quirks after all.

the only ones who are worthy of return here are Ryudo family and maybe Aras and Aizawa with a stretch. Everyone else either has a complete arc or is very irrelevant. Or just a one off (which is another term for irrelevant)

To be honest, I feel Kuze served his purpose in Kiryu's story, I think the final words he exchanged with kiryu was a good sendoff before he was arrested in 0.

Its a shame Tanimura and Shinada never show up outside of the games they were introduced in (Y4 & Y5 respectively), well in mainline ones at least.
Their occupations meant that they had very little leeway in maintaining connections to career criminals. Tanimura really only passed in 4 because he helped arrest a national criminal, and Shinada was just a normal guy who happened to train like an anime character because he loves baseball.

His arc was finished in 0, he's an actor based character, and most games were made before 0.
