I could listen Quentin talk for hours and hours about movies.
Me tooooooooo!!!!!
Does that mean you haven't?😱
He has a podcast where that’s all he does. So your in luck
He also used to have a show in England where he would introduce his favorite movies and sort of come in around the commercial breaks and talk about certain scenes in stuff. There are some clips on CZcams that I’ve seen, if you’re so inclined.
Funny thing is there's a 3 hour compliation of him talking about his movies on CZcams
For me, it's Pulp Fiction. It was fresh, different and exciting. It's still great after 30 years. It stands the test of time.
The first time I ever saw it was on TV and I turned the TV on and Vincent gets shot... and then it time jumps backwards and I remember just thinking "this is a really cool idea" and I've been a fan of QT ever since.
This was many, many years ago.
Pulp fiction is a masterpiece and that was the obvious answer here. Once upon a time is my least favorite of his films
Pulp fiction 100%.
Pulp Fiction is great, but it has definitely aged.
He was part of a movie called Four Rooms that was great also.
This is the best Tarantino clip ever. “I’m making em for me… everyone else is invited”
One of the reasons I admire Tarantino. You can feel the love he has for his films and cinema as a whole just by watching. You can tell he genuinely enjoys his craft.
"I make my movies for myself, everyone else is invited"
this is why QT's a gigachad
Inglorious Basterds, for me. What an absolute masterpiece.
Inglorious Basterds is the best movie I’ve ever seen. Not just the best Tarantino movie, THE best movie.
That's a Bingo!
Yesss! It’s super underrated! An absolute gem.
True that.
@@50Blox “you just say Bingo”
“How fun!”
Love that everyone has a different favorite. Goes to show how amazing his movies truly are
I agree, my friend ❤️🔥
Facts, you know a movie producer is that good when his fans argue with their favorite movies
That's true, but my favorite QT movie is all of them.
H: "Why do you watch your movies back?" Q: "I love 'em!" - That's awesome!!
Django Unchained would probably be it for me for the sheer brilliance of the characters. And the stark contrast between the comedy / violence and how that’s packaged in a way where you can laugh along yet feel somewhat odd knowing this shit really went on back then. It really was a flawless performance from Christoper Waltz he made that movie for me. Jamie fox and Leo also exceptional. 10/10
I agree one of my favorite movies !
Mine too
Same my 3rd fav movie of all time.
Don't forget about Samuel Jacksons performance, him Leo & Christoph were all battling for a Oscar & they all honestly deserved one for that film but u can only give one per film especially since they're all supporting actors!!!!
After thinking about it, Django Unchained slightly edges over all others for me due to the Freedom scene. Goosebumps every time.
Great interview... Tarantino is such a great guest.
The Hateful 8 was my favorite I don't care what anyone else says. The banter in that movie was amazing.
Hateful 8 is very underrated!
Finally a fellow Hateful eight connoisseur
Probably my least favorite of his, or at least around the bottom. But it's still a great movie. Any Tarantino written flick will at least have entertaining/witty dialogue
Top 5 for me. It’s a masterpiece
It’s my least favorite but I respect it though
The true artist makes it for himself. If an artist has an audience in mind he is creating a product.
William Friedkin would have disagreed with that.
Once upon a time is my favorite. Its such a rewarding experience as a fan of his films and cinema at large.
Read the book to!
I saw three times in the theaters and when it came out on DVD I watched it three or four times the first month I had it! It's fantastic. I own the book but have not read it yet unfortunately
The book is amazing!!
Reservoir Dogs is my favorite. The dialogue is amazing, it’s so quotable, love the scene where Mr. Orange is bleeding out in the white leather car and Mr. White is insisting “You’re gonna be okay!” and forcing him to say it.
I love that entire first scene in the diner, especially when Mr. Pink refuses to tip 😂
@@teamvoldemort2145 yessss “uh uh I don’t tip” 😂
@@teamvoldemort2145This automatically tipping, it's for the birds!
are you gonna keep barking little doggy or are you gonna bite
Such a great answer. His honesty and the absence of, let's say, false modesty, is so refreshing.
Tarantino is a legend. Can't wait for his next project!!
Pulp Fiction imo. That Marsellus Wallace speech with Al Green's Let's Stay Together was a thing of beauty
The reason he doesn't say Pulp is because he was just a co-writer
He’s the sole screenwriter, Roger just has a story by credit
@jeancarlossanchez4481 yea coz Avery gave up his co-writing credit as the producers thought it would be more marketable with Quentin getting sole credit.
It was at that part of the movie when i start to realize i was watching a masterpiece.
The "Tells" scene in True Romance between Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken has some of the best dialogue of any movie ever.
I loved True Romance and I thought Gary Oldham was brilliant in it :)
@@harrietthomas4032 lol “we got Charlie fuckin Bronson over here.” Amazing film
"I haven't killed anybody....since nineteen eighty four"
1000%
@@jayjones9225 "Mr Majestic" :)
Pulp fiction was the best
Respect for giving a straight answer.
As an artist, your last project will usually be your fav. Just because the memory of making it is so fresh...still has the excitement of, "look what we did!". That said. Once upon a time...hmmm may just be my fav as well. Inglorious Basterds being my second pick.
I really think Pulp Fiction is the best.
Same for me and probably pulp fiction 3rd.
Reservoir Dogs is my favorite but they’re are valid choices 👌
Also, usually they're trying to sell their latest project, so it doesn't make sense to pull focus away from that by mentioning something else.
4. Reservoir Dogs
3. Pulp Fiction
2. Django
1. Inglorious Basterds
His best is at his most reserved, imo, and I love Jackie Brown. A good slow-burning caper script. Interesting underworld characters. As real as any of his movies have ever felt. And just a tinge of romance, in a Tarantino way. RIP Robert Forester.
I love Jackie Brown!
second this, Jackie Brown hands down
I love his movies.
Django will always be my favourite! I love Tarantino movie but Django was simply perfect! Loved the soundtrack for it aswell!
Jackie Brown... The pace + screen play
JB often gets overlooked/ignored when talking about his films-I love that one, too. Killer soundtrack, as well.
@@MrDuneedon Exactly!
The Chemistry between Robert Forster & Pam Grier is out of this world
Absolute best. Wish he would have stayed in that crime groove for at least a few more films.
Probably cause QT didn't write it .
This is the most honesty I've ever came across from a top A list director! Love him!
“i’m making it for me,everyone else is just invited” a true artist
I love every Tarantino movie. I always had a great chilling time watching them at home or in cinema.
What a likeable person, the definition of charismatic and interesting.
All of them. Every one of them is so unique and completely different storyline that makes it impossible to put one in front of the other. My absolute favorite director of all time!
Inglorious bastards! Not just my favorite from him but one of my favorite movies period. In my top 10.
I'm personally a big fan of Django. Every character in that movie is perfect.
To me Django Unchained is his best film. I love western films and It has such a satisfying conclusion and great acting involved from everyone especially DiCaprio and Waltz. However Pulp Fiction is a perfect movie.
facts django is goated
Absolutely well said!
Totally agree. Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece but I can watch Django and Inglorious Bastards over Andover
More of an Eastern then a Western.
@@captnawesme Agreed, it technically isn't a western, but the big crime here is that it has TWO conclusions...shit should have ended after the first Candyland shootout. There's zero reason we needed another. Tarantino's ego got in the way here and you really felt Sally Menken's absence.
I also think Once Upon a Time is his best, and my favorite
reservoir dogs -- gritty, insanely original, and the origin story
For me its the Hateful 8, just so fun and exciting.
Also its pretty dope how most people have a different favourite Tarantino film
I've watched Pulp Fiction more times than any of the others combined so that would likely be my pick...but they're all great in their own way.
Even From Dusk Till Dawn which he didn't direct is one of my favorites.
Reservoir dogs is still my favorite of his after all this time.
For me, it’s so hard to choose I love all his movies. He’s a legend
Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds are his two best.
I dig that he’s into his own movies! “I make them for me!” I’ve viewed all of his movies many times and actually had to pay over a hundred bucks for Reservoir Dogs on VHS when it came out (remember Blockbuster late fees?). Saw pulp fiction a dozen times in the theatre and so on…. Django, Inglorious Basterds, and Once upon a time are probably perfect movies, but I don’t think I could ever pick just one favorite.
by that point they should just let you keep it
0:49 Every filmmaker should have that mindset about their films. 👌🏻
Please don’t stop - because they are awesome!
Jackie brown was my favourite. But for his career I think Pulp Fiction
It's Reservoir Dogs for me. It's the most human, what with it being about "honour amongst thieves" - and how ultimately there is none.
Django Unchained, the performances were all incredible.
That "I'm making them for me, everyone else is just invited" is the reason why he's so successful.
"If you can't enjoy your own stuff..." -Jim Carrey
...don't expect anyone else to.
The Hateful Eight is my most fav. It's movie and stage play combined with amazing cast and detailed characters.
I totally agree with you!
I AGREE. I really love that movie, the production design, acting, direction and writing is phenomenal. A underrated film
Such a totally cool honest answer!
jackie brown is the best
There's so much to love in his Filmography, but nobody in the world could ever have given us Basterds but him.
I love that he loves and watches his movies lol it’s because he makes movies for himself that they are so good!!
Reservoir dogs is still my favorite
czcams.com/video/rLx1ABxely0/video.html
Hard to argue with that. It was the first QT movie I ever watched - the intro scene from the diner really struck me as quite unique and obviously excellent.
Pulp Fiction will always be Tarantino's masterpiece. Resevoir Dogs is a classic with Jackie Brown.
Pulp Fiction will go down as his most iconic movie.
For me It's Once upon a time... too. Simply impeccable!
Once upon a time was certainly his best I think, and my personal favorite. It’s just got an energy to it that none of his others could quite capture, one of the best period pieces of all time
crap!
Not a chance
@@vinniepaul182 art is subjective
I can see why HE likes it, but it’s definitely near the bottom of my list
he nailed it. i absolutely love once upon a time. the historical context and the dropping of two big dogs in the middle of it was exquisite.
There is no historical context to the movie lol
@@zafmo9829 look up manson family
I love Tarantinos excitement and passion for his films.
Inglorious Basterds. My first Tarantino movie, and my favourite movie of all time.
Pulp Fiction is his best imo
Inglorious Basterds is his best film.... hands down.
agreed. opening scene alone makes it his best movie.
@@NicoEss probably the best opening of them all
I love Brad Pitt but his ridiculous accent takes me out of the movie
Inglorious Bastards is the one I've rewatched the most! Christopher Waltz and Brad Pitt are so amazing! I think it has one of the best intros ever
One interview way before this one happened he had mentioned that the critics around 20 years from then would say that Inglourious Basterds was his best film.
Tarantino is so honest, he is a total film and music geek, he's one of us...only he's a genius version
you can really tell that Quentin is making movies for himself and he does not give a damn what other people think. that's the difference between an artful director and a commercial director
My favorite Tarantino movie and best theater experience in my life.
I love all of em but Django is my all time favorite what a classic. So much tension and humor and love
Inglorious Basterds my personal favorite forever. Greatest opening scene in film history.
I would say Django Unchained or Resevior Dogs. The Hateful Eight is up there too; the more I watch that film, the more I appreciate how well constructed the film is.
I would say "four rooms". It has funniness, sexiness, and good music and animation at the beginning. A really good possibly overlooked movie. 🎥 🍿
was about to wrote this down as well. His segment of Four Rooms and the whole movie is just brilliant.... with Ted(Tim Roth) replying to Richie Aprile(David Proval) AKA Sigfried lol Its not that big nervously,SHOW IT TO ME hahaha
Cant wait for his next masterpiece.
I believe its a different experience for an actor to watch a film that they act in rather than a director watch a film that they directed. Most of the time, a director doesn't physically see themselves in their films, the whole movie is how they would see the story play out, rather than an actor physically seeing themselves put on a performance.
Jackie Brown for me. And no, not for the sake of being edgy or different Lol His films are all entertaining, but JB is by far the one where I feel the most emotionally invested in the characters. Would've loved to see him tackle another Elmore Leonard novel.
I'm the same, he's praised as a screenwriter-director but he tackled so well that as an adaptation ( basically disguised as an original, a lot of people don't know that) he has a love for comedy, for some reason i've always wanted to see him do a Fletch movie or something in that vein, making it edgier
JB is #1 for me too!!
Agree. JB comes straight to the point. Tarantino movies are sometimes too self indulgent for me. JB tells its story straight.
Me too! That end scene was so cinematic
The "start over" movie theme is what makes it so close to our human condition. It's something anyone can experience. It struck me since the first time I watched it.
No bullshit answers. Love it.
He had a really informative conversation on 2 Bears 1 Cave this week.
Reservoir Dogs is my personal favorite
Jackie Brown for me. The dialog is so good.
For me it's Inglourious Basterds. For a fiction movie it feels kinda real because of the languages spoken in the movie.
Pulp & Inglourious. Nuff said.
I still remember watching Pulp Fiction on a 3 disc DVD and was blown away with all the storylines and how they interconnected with each other. Still the best Tarantino movie.
I just love that Tarantino loves his movies!
Once upon a time my favourite too , a masterpiece
Jackie Brown is so underrated. I recently watched it and loved it.
Once Upon A Time is my favorite as well. It wasn't at first. It's so charming, hilarious, and very tense at times. The scene where Cliff shows up to Spahn Ranch is one of Tarantino's best scenes for me.
Absolutely. Before that came out I would’ve had to say Jackie Brown. Once upon a time was so damn charming and nostalgic it’s the winner in my book
Couldn’t agree more
I love him
I can see why he's very proud of once upon a time in HW. It's a movie that shows him hey you still got it and more
I do believe it's best is either Pulp fiction or Jackie Brown, I personally love Jackie Brown but I have to say the Steven character in Django unchained is also great which makes the movie probably unique and few scenes in Reservoir dogs are unbelievable
Pulp fiction and django. True masterpieces
Yup. Same favorites.
Jackie Brown, and Pulp Fiction
For me Reservoir dogs will always be my favorite film even if it’s not objectively best.
and this is why his movies are so awesome.
I make them for me and everyone else is invited😂🙌🏼 best thing a director/writer could say!
My personal favorite of his is Inglorious Basterds.
Jackie brown is my favorite film 💙💙
we love your movies too, Quentin
Thought he would say Inglorious Bastards. My personal fav.
That's the rule in my house... If a QT movie is on TV. That's what I'm watching.
Once upon a time personal fav. Pulp fiction career defining and hateful eight is another personal favorite
For me it's the Sound of Music. An all time classic that has stood the test of time.
Lol what? Did u even listen to the question?
Didn’t know Tarantino made that
He did try to do a remake of it but couldn't get the green light on it. @@christiancrocetti9940
