Here’s what will happen: he’ll do 10 films, take some time off, write a couple novels, maybe do a stage play and then down the road he will come up with an idea so great that he won’t be able to resist filming and they will market the crap out of it as “the return of Tarantino.” Mark my words.

I say: if he wants to continue making movies, so be it.
His movies hardly ever get boring or dull. Not to mention that with all these shitty remakes, never-ending sequels/reboots, comic book adaptions etcetera, we DO really need some original movies.
So, as long as he continues making movies, i'm gonna definitely be very happy.

I think the overall pattern is correct, but there are some exceptions to "every artist loses it at some point". On musicians/albums, I mean, 2016 began with Bowie's Blackstar and ended with Cohen's You Want It Darker. Both truly great albums. Both right before they each respectively dropped dead. Were they absolute peak? Maybe not, but they were worthy of their legacies. And both had many decades, rise and fall, so many albums, but showed they each had fuel in the tank at the end.

I want him to finish strong. But I also like the ideas and possibilities of what he could do if limitations weren't a factor. Kill Bill 3, a Reservoir Dogs remake, The Vega Bros., there's just lots of potential for Tarantino that stopping after 1 more is just mind boggling.

it's kind of wise but what grade records you know that only have 10 movies you should at least do like 20 or 30 10 is so small I mean you really haven't been able to explore all different types of genres and maybe it'd be fun to do something right is normal like a romantic comedy. But with his spin. Just feel like he's giving up because he's afraid of failure.

I'd like to see him make a film about how he made it, like a coming of age thing. His story is as iconic as his movies. He's the guy who worked in the video store and dreamed of making it like so many of us who did the same. He is like a hero to that generation. Also, even the fact we could have a video store in it, they dont even exist anymore. I seriously think that would be amazing

He compares directing to "sports", but the obvious fallacy is that you biologically peak at sports in your mid 30s or 40s (depending on the sport), whereas a director can make his best film at age 65. Joe Rogan is correct in that the fallen director just seems to be the one that gets complacent and makes fluff garbage for a cash grab. Plenty of directors have made great films at age 65. Nobody was talking about how Kubrick "used to be good" before he turned 50.

you're missing the fact, that sport takes a toll on your mental health as well. Being competitve at any level is not just about being able to physically - the mind is as important as the body in sports. And you're completely missing the fact that Tarantino wasn't talking about the ability to "perform", but about the performance being attractive to people. IE. basketball player is on top for 20 years, stops being something amazing for sports fans, director does great movies, new vibe and all, for 20 years - can still make good shit, but is no longer considered ground breaking. He openly says, he can still do good movies, but he just want's to retire while he's on top of his game, not because he doesn't have it anymore.

Umm I don’t think he’s right when he talks about directors not ageing well. Kurosawa and Kubrick were on top of their game to the very end, hence their master status. And I mean just look at Scorsese, nearly 80 and we’re all anticipating his new projects.

  • @Jared_Wignall

I don’t know if Tarantino will truly stop at 10 films. He may take a break after 10 and write books and do plays, from adapting some of his films to the stage and writing new and original plays, but I’ve got a feeling he would likely return to film whenever he’s writing something and it dawns on him it can’t really be a book or a play, it has to be a movie. A movie first and then perhaps either of those two later. He seems too much of a film lover to really hang it up after 10. And even if he did stop at 10, I would hate if he ended his career with another Kill Bill volume. It’s best to leave things where they are. No reason to continue a story that ended fine years ago. We can all think what happened to The Bride and her daughter later on if we want. We don’t need to actually see it unfold. His 10th film should be a new and original film that is unrelated to his previous films, other than being part of his universe he’s created.
