The cost of slaves varied significantly depending on various factors such as location, time period, skills, and age. In the United States before the Civil War, slave prices generally increased over time due to a rise in demand, particularly in the southern states where slaves were used primarily for agricultural labor.
By the mid-19th century, an average adult male field hand in the southern United States could cost anywhere from $800 to $1,500, equivalent to around $25,000 to $50,000 in today's dollars when adjusted for inflation. Skilled slaves, such as carpenters or blacksmiths, could be even more expensive.

@@aAQEeprov you are crazy. K&P are entertaining but I could watch certain episodes and not laugh once. They have like Maybe 5 really good skits in my opinion. Where the chappele show had at least 1 great skit an episode. There isn't many I didn't like or at least laugh at the first time I saw it. Many skits still make me laugh after countless views on CZcams through the years. The lost episodes did suck besides the Tupac song in the club skit. But, their second season was on fire like nothing else. I felt history being made watching the chappele show. And it was being made for skit comedy. I still remember where I was, what I was doing, what I was talking about with my then girlfriend, and what time it was the first time wayne brady threatened to choke a bit on Chappele Show... Same thing for the black white supremist skit. I remember that as well as I do nine eleven. No other show or movie has ever struck me like that before. In fact the only people I've heard say anything is better than the chappele show are just young. Too young to have watched it when it came out. You must be basing your opinion on a few CZcams skits that you saw. I've seen every episode 3 to over 10 times. Still laughing. Not to say K&P was bad by any standards. It was good. Not great like chappele show. K&P would not have even aired without Chappele. I gaurantee it. Comedy Central seen a skit show that slightly reminded them of Chappele and it got aired. Gaurantee it. Cash cow is what they hoped. And I'm sure K&P got good ratings then. But, it didn't live up to chappele show like comedy central hoped. Still though, they did good and made Comedy Central good money.

The parallel is especially shown near the end of the auction when the shorter guy gets picked over the both of them and they start listing all of their strengths. In the corporate world, when someone gets picked over you sometimes in your mind they don't have the capability to do the job, and a lot of the times they really don't have the same capability to do the job as you do. Which is what they were trying to point out. Also, the part where their both listing their strengths, that's what a lot of people who are interviewed tend to do so they can get the job. That's just my take on it but I could be wrong. And I hope I wrote it in a way that it makes sense, cause I'm not very good at structuring my sentences properly.

It's like how people say they don't want to be exploited by capitalists, but at the end of the day if jobs are limited, overtime they forget about protecting against poor working condition and instead start focusing on competing against each other to get the job. Of course, this is following what John says in his comments. I think this skit's main point is people's strong desire to feel superior to others or to get recognized by others. Even when they are slaves, they want to be "better" slaves.

@@jakestroll6518 First off nothing narcissistic or sociopathic about their achievements. Second if you were a part of their time, you would think just like them. There's a reason people use the term "product of their time". They weren't idiots, they were actually intelligent, clever, and some even near genius noblemen.
Todays politicians do not have the hardships nor drive or fight that these Founding fathers had. Putting their necks out to possibly die for a cause they believed in. No politician today does that. So don't compare men who risked it all, to some cheeto haired billionaire, Thank you.
A revolution always starts off with great intentions and ideas. But once they win and are in power, slowly overtime the country changes into something else. The world was a messed up place, and it is foolish to judge history based on our current world views. And don't mention atrocities, because that's an obvious comeback... Thomas Jefferson was a narcissist that stole ideas. Abraham Lincoln was the every man, but has the hype due to the situation he was in.
You have a juvenile understanding of the founding fathers. You like to see the negative, because of your views. I like to share the facts and correct inaccurate statements, just because it's pushed by some political bias. Also product of their time, ring any bells to you? That's a thing. This was over 200 years ago. The times were very different then, so don't judge by a modern lense. It doesn't work that way. By your logic, no one was good before 1776. My points still stand and you couldn't counter them. Because you understand that standards change over time. And I didn't say I like them, I said your claims are false. Her skill at leading people out of slavery was legendary for sure. She never lost anyone, and was so crafty and intelligence that no on caught on. She even used disguises and the like to avoid notice.
During the civil war she first served as a nurse, including for people with smallpox, but somehow never caught it. After that she became a scout and advisor for the union army and participated in at least one armed raid that rescued hundreds of enslaved people.
In her later life she became an influential activist for women's suffrage as well.
      She was a badass.

The Puckle gun (also known as the Defence gun) was a primitive autocannon invented in 1718 by James Puckle (1667-1724) a British inventor, lawyer and writer. The Puckle gun mechanism was essentially a flintlock revolver; the design concept behind the Puckle gun turned out to be years ahead of what was technologically achievable with 18th century technology. The first practical guns using this design principle, now known as revolver cannons, only appeared in the mid-1940s.
