Yes you should definitely do a full frame build.
Full stainless frame and then do some artwork welding on it would be so sick
Love your welding skills and wish I could make myself a bike.
Dude, definitely build a frame. I'd love that episode. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Then you have a new frame that you can write off as a business expense. Win win, buddy.
Even better. Build a frame, tattoo it with some epic weld art, then stunt on everyone at the competition.
Totally agreed, full frame, covered with a snake/dragon art
I really wouldn't mind to see Your amazing skill having a go with a custom bmx frame. that would be nice;D
You are God with a torch! And just an all-around damn cool and talented human.
Yes! Full bike frame! Do it!!!😄👍
Positive mind Faith an Peace Thank u for helping me always Dusty on this new Journey in my life of th Tig world thank u God Bless u an ur Family 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
surprised you haven't made a frame of you own yet.. would love to see it!
Yeah... maybe will do a little frame exercise soon I think!:) Thanks for watching!
Hell yeah man I would be keen as to see you make a frame. Been riding for over 10 years now trying to get the son in to it
@@PacificArcTigWelding And sell it on Ebay and get a ton of money, I'd put in a bid for sure.
First you should make a frame jig 👍. I love tig and bmx! s&m credence 👊🤙
@@Andrewsiffer yeah a frame jig would help
Should you make a frame: Absolutely! For many of us who watch - we were brought here by images of the beauty of your work - often performed for art projects. However - our desire is to basically take your art and apply it to projects - like welding tubes. Am confident you will expand your base as well as please many of your current followers with more of this - as additional details will inevitably come to light on specs/settings/setup. BTW - great to have your amperage showing. So helpful. Many thanks!
You definitely have to build a frame now!
Absolutely try making a whole frame!
You should make a frame for sure!
Dusty your the man , go for it , build that frame🙏💪🏻
Full frame, yes!
In for full frame build! Love your videos. So clear, and your way of explaining is perfect. I also like seeing the little side view of your welder
I ride bmx, and you definitely should do a whole frame build! I found your channel trying to improve my tig skills so thanks for all the advice you share👍👍
Hell yeah! Was just welding up coped joints last night for a bit of practice. Got a bunch more to do I’ll be taking this lesson back out there with me.
Let’s see that full frame build!!! 🔥👍🏼🔥
I vote for a frame build!!
Stoked for this one I just got into stainless handrail. Thanks for the tips
Full frame build? Yes please!
Would love to see a frame build video.
Keep up the good work!
I would like to see a full frame! Building your own bike would be pretty gratifying i think.
Gotta say the earliest intrigue to tig was bmx bikes was looking at welds on early 80s PK RIPPERZ REDLINE AND the like... always was super impressed by craftsmanship!
Cool, full frame fab would be sweet!
Awesome that you just want someone to do something cool! Cheers bud! Keep up the vids
Yes! Make a frame and ride it!
Sweeet!
Making a frame would be way sick
So psyched I had to leave a second comment. Thought I would list some things your viewers might like to see: START UP. toughest bit. How do you avoid burn back - super frustrating for a lot of us? How much amperage out of the gate? How do you clamp and hold for tacking? How do you tack without causing it to just gap on opposite side of tube. LONG PASS: Tricks to get good long pass. Body and hand position. Work position in relation to hands. Tips to getting nice long passes and torch angle tips. BONUS - do a mild steel in same wall thickness and compare strategy/technique points from above. Love your work. Thanks! *edit - would be interesting to see the non-welding glass screened shots - then a welding glass screen shot of the same shot (two phones!) so that we can see both detail and hand/rod technique - it possible.
Love the colors. Looks better than a paint job.
heck yeah, make a full frame :D
Thank you .Very good on the random acts of kindness.
Awesome job!! The bent filler wire tip was Rad, and for sure I wanna see a frame built!!!!!!!
Great video as always! Thanks for sharing your tips with us. God bless you and have a great day Dusty!
Perfect,precision💯💯💯great job Dusty.
Remarkable work!!
sick flatland!
Thanks! It’s my obsession...!😂🙏
Fantastic video as always Dusty. Thanks for taking the time to share & looking forward to many more vid's
Peace Bro..
Full frame love your vids
I love your positive vibes. Your personality comes across so well and I think that helps you teach because people have total trust and confidence in the advice you offer.
I don't weld but if I had the equipment and was learning, you are the person I'd like for my instructor. I'm approaching 64 and my last weld was in 1975. 😁
full frame will be very nice
You should definitely do a whole frame !
Thanks for helping us to learn these tips for welding. I'm from Brazil thanks again! 🔥🤙
I am about to build my second bike frame and I must say you sir are a master! Definitely going to try and copy your technique because this looks awesome
This definitely helps me as im looking at making my own gokart chassis.
Pretty sweet demo Dusty.
Amazing skills.
Inspiring! Thank you!
Nice video, thanks Dusty.
Great control 👍🏽
Excellent video, Dusty! Your videos have helped me greatly in my quest to learn TIG welding. I am building welding skills now so I can make 1" OD / 0.065" wall 304 stainless steel bow rails for the 25' Tolman Skiff that I built.
Definitely do a frame please sir! 💪🏾
Yes you should absolutely do a full BMX frame. Maybe if you can afford it or find a customer, build it out of Ti. I'd be really interested in how you'd setup a jig to hold everything into place because as the frame and tube gets hot its going to want to twist and warp. I don't build frames but know guys who have and that seems to be the real trick, how to get the tube from warping. Also, how you would fit the collars on the headtube and bottom bracket.
Great video! I would absolutely love to see you build a frame!!! Something I’ve pondered many times myself, just need a little more hood time
Dude, Love the videos. Spent my entire childhood and teens dirt jumping and flatlanding. Makes me want to bust the bike out of the basement, I'm 37 now and haven't rode in 10 + years, not sure if my back can handle it. You should do a full flatland frame build series with a follow up video showing us some of your riding skills. Keep up the awesome work man!
Ain’t no time too late to ride flat! I got back into it at 30- and been riding nonstop since. 38 now and more thankful for it every session. Cant wait for contest season to get back going!🙏
Wouldn't life be a whole lot better if everyone thought like you.
Was super stoked to watch this video, im exited to see what other bmx related videos you come out with next, i use to ride 20" wheel bmx but had to switch to a 24" wheel cuz of a shoulder injury
Let’s see a full frame!
Just found your channel. So far I like.ill have to start watching your older videos. Also a fellow bmx-er. Don’t ride as often as I use to but I’ll always have my bike when I need it.
Would LOVE to see you weld a BMX frame. Gearing up to fabricate one myself, so I have much appreciation for this video and any extra insights you may share in the future on getting around those tight spaces as well as heat management and starts/stops (I haven't worked much with such thin tubing as is common for bicycles, so I'll probably be taking things in somewhat shorter bites for fear of accumulating heat and blowing thru). Thanks again, and as usual your SS welds are gorgeous :)
Excellent job. Ωραια δουλειά .. Greetings from Greece
Do it! I can’t believe you haven’t done one yet?!
I'm an old, old BMXr from back in the '70s. Building my own bikes was where I was first introduced to TIG welding craft. I'm decades too old to ride and I'm beginning to struggle with eyes and hands while welding. I very much appreciate your passion and especially your skill level & ability to run those beautiful beads. You make it look easy. A sign of a true professional.
This video demonstrated welding stainless tubing. A different animal than moly. I haven't searched through all your vids, but I haven't seen one of you welding 4130 tubing yet, such as would normally be used in a bike frame application. Have you done one? I'd like to know what setup you prefer, filler, etc.
The TIG welding craft has changed immensely since I first started. Welding is not my full time profession these days. Keeping up with the changes seems to be more challenging. Being an old geezer, actually making those changes is sometimes the biggest challenge of all. ;-)
thank man i love your videos full frame would be a really cool video
Make a frame!🤩
Very nice....👌👍
Good job, hope it is useful
Bmx and also a fab guy!
autum bikes! I just watched one of your videos and saw a bike...now I can't stop...I have an autum frame katze v2..german company...good frame...loves me some bmx.... old school DMC, osbourne, volker all those guys.
Bad Ass weld thinking of picking up a yeswelder Tig Hf Arc 205ds only was buy it for stick job but your video's got me want to learn Tig thanks...PS changed the car tire for my mail man Lady..!
I ride bmx too and would love to see a full frame build 🤟
29ers! Can't believe you never made a frame before!!!
I raced BMX it was fun when I was younger. I stick weld for 5 year still mig weld a lot on my racecar. I want to learn to tug love you video’s. 👍
Thank you so much for your videos! Mad skills and love your positivity! I just got a TIG welder and I'm learning from scratch, currently struggling with this type of configuration on 0.8mm thick 304 stainless. I've tried no filler and 0.8mm MIG wire after your tip on another video, but for the life of me I can't get a puddle to form that joins both surfaces. Either it's cold or I blow through. Any tips or suggestions?? Thanks again for being awesome! And you should definitely build a frame!
One thing I have found if you ever raced Bmx for the most part you end up a gear head. All but one of the guys at our hobby shop did Bmx and all of us where drawn to the same custom trucks
Nice video LARRY MOORE
Full frame!!
A true art. Can you show us some titanium welding please :)
Thanks for this! I'm just about to start an aluminum ladder project with 1" rungs coped onto 1.25" uprights. Any tips for doing the same on AL?
By all means make your own frame. As good as you are at welding it would come out beautiful. Then you could ride a "Roll your own" bike that fits you perfect.
What dictates the need for purging when you're welding tubing? Thanks for making these videos.
Go for it I make a 20 inch freestyle frame a long time ago still have it I'm also the one how came up with the DYNO precel bars and showed them to GT WHEN I WAS 15 they stoll my design from me but I can still say Gary turner stoll it from me when I was 15
Rode box my whole life bro defiantly do a frame that’d be sick then make a video of you riding on it that’d be sick! Love the videos as always man!
Behind bars for 30 years!
I think you did an outstanding job overall except I didn't care for the lack of joint clearance between head ,top, and down tubes thanks for the overall excellent video.🤗
Lol looks like your building a frame next :p
Do a full frame!
Awesome outcome. What is your setup for coping/notching? Those tubes looked perfect.
when you dip filler rod pull torch back slightly so its a similar motion with both hands.
I would also love to see a full frame. But would it be SS, alum or cromo :hmm:
Looks good I mean old school BMX grew up with a lot of the old guys Eddie fiola Martin app Rio Woody Edson Brian Scara was a good friend of mine Dave volker
Bro! Thank you for this video! I love your channel and humble attitude! I am building an airboat cage from 304 .065 3/4 and 7/8 od tubing and it has tons of cope joints. Before starting I searched high and low for any videos of ss tubing and found very little info. I am welding in absolutely every position imaginable and I've spent the last two weekends contorted in and around hot tubing trying to make nice welds and get practice before welding out the engine stand. I am running an Everlast set up to nearly the exact settings as you're running but only running 20cfh. Also only running a #8 on a ck20. Gonna bump up that gas flow and order edge cups today! Looks like I'm also not adding as much filler as you so I need to focus on that as well. I assume your using 3/32 filler? Again! THANK YOU SO MUCH for the video. I learned o much from such a short video. I do still have a few questions and would like to share some pics of my progress. I will go to your site and try to find a way to contact you there.
3/32 filler rod would be way too thick for .065 wall tubing. Looks to me like Dusty's filler wire is only about half the size of his Tungsten, maybe only .040" ? (which is what I'd be using on something like this).
You are correct sir. I did type 3/32 but I am using 1/16 (which may still be to large) but it does help cool the coped side of the joints.
Great video dude! I love the payback mention at the end... Too often I find myself asking the screen," how much throttle is he giving the foot pedal". I love the corner shot of the machine showing your amperage as you weld... I'm a newbie to Tig so watching guys like yourself killing it is super cool.
I'm interested in your opinion of the clear EDGE cups you showcase on your channel regarding sight of the weld while working. I'm 50, eyes aren't as good as they use to be so any advantage I can give myself I'm open to it.
Thanks for the channel and sharing your skill with the world.
Phil
Thanks Phil! I love the cups, just the ability to see is worth a lot to me. Doesn’t make a huge difference to be honest as far as gas quality goes, as I can get good results with a basic setup as well. But these cups are really nice and the visibility is pretty awesome for sure🤙🤙🤙
I think it would be a fantastic idea if you Incorporated your love for BMX n tig welding and started building frames on top of doing art lol... But as I know, Art is more than enough to keep a single guy busy for years to come. Fabulous job as always D-man, killer episode and different. U r the tig art boss of youtube now man. Its official lol dabs might own Instagram, but ain't nobody doin it like my main man on the Tube, 💪👊😎
I am happy with the awesome work you are doing l would like to learn Aluminium welding with your help l am in South Africa
Hey Dusty. I'm a tool and die maker/machinist on Vancouver Island (Mid Island in Errington).
First! Thank you for the vid! And can you tell me a little on how the SS reacts compared to other materials?? I'm learning on my own with your help and aluminum was a little different for me in the fact that I had to wait a lot longer before I could hit it again compared to regular steel! My 2nd and 3rd passes on my aluminum turned out runny
Love it dude! How do you notch your tubes? The color in that is slayer. .
Can you tell me what welding inspection for the welding defect on the joints of bicycle frame?
Definitely a yeah to 20" fun I was a payed and sponsored park and street tech rider I've got a couple edits floating round youtube now I'm too old and fat but I still jump on every now and then haha usually get hurt now though haha
This is some beautiful work. I'm about to jump on a project to weld up a bunch of small diameter 0.065 stainless for my mid-engine car project. I haven't tig welded in a while, and practice last week was a miserable failure. I'm only running about 60A (everlast 200dv running on 120v), but I'm still popping through a ton just trying to lay a bead on the tube.
I've never been a proficient tig welder, but this is pathetic! I watched your newer "3 welding tips..." video, and I'll keep at it. I'm making a bunch of the mistakes that you bought up.
What size/type tungsten or filler rod are you running?
Also, what's your opinion on back purging? Is it possible to weld a stainless butt joint correctly without it?
Nice work, if you do a frame it has to be aluminum, no scratch that titanium!!!
What size and grade filler ? How did you cope the tubing ? Show real time welding. Yes make a full Frame. Show us how U do it. Give us all the details.
